I don't know why I usually get angry when I hear people talk about the word "job," or "tribe."

I only give one type of advice and that is: acquire a lucrative digital skill that'll fetch you money while you sleep.

Anything that doesn't fetch you money while you sleep is slavery.

be more explicit pls. you can give us an example of your assertion.

If you can survive without the job pending when you get another one then you can quit but if survival will be too difficult if you quit now then my advice will be to stay in the job while still searching.

You only quit a job when you have an immediate replacement though there are exceptions to this rule though.

did you read a thread where a graduate was complaining about earning 15k a month as a teacher in secondary school? The economy is far from friendly with graduates.

I am in the same boat.To think it's Lagos.
I got fed up and it was even affecting my health. As young as I am,I was having bp issues. I had to resign sharp sharp to get myself back. Before I die on the job.

YOU ARE A GOOD MAN MY SON!

THIS IS WHERE I GET ANGRY WITH TODAY'S GRADUATES. WHY DID YOU GO TO SCHOOL IN THE FIRST PLACE IF YOU CANT APPLY THE KNOWLEDGE YOU BOUGHT (THAT IS IF THEY HAVE ANY) WITH YOUR MONEY FROM THE TERTIARY INSTITUTION TO SOLVE LIFE'S PROBLEMS?

YOU GO TO SCHOOL JUST TO GET JOBS?

I ONCE TOLD A GRADUATE TO GO AND ORGANISE THE COMMUNITY YOUTHS AND REFORM THE REVENUE COLLECTION UNIT. BEFORE NOW, THAT UNIT WAS BASICALLY FOR THUGS AND THEY HARASS AND INTIMIDATE PEOPLE JUST TO EXTORT FROM THEM. THOUGH THEY REMIT THE ALLOCATED AMOUNT TO THE LGA BUT THEIR MODUS OPERANDI WAS NOTHING COMPARED TO WHAT IS HAPPENING IN OTHER PART OF THE WORLD. THIS GRADUATE DECLINED AND CONTINUED HIS JOB HUNTING. I GAVE THAT SAME IDEA TO SOMEONE (ANOTHER GRADUATE) AND TODAY HE IS MARRIED, HAVE KIDS AND WAS BUILDING HIS OWN HOME WHEN I SAW HIM LAST. THE OTHER ONE IS STILL JOB HUNTING.

DO YOU KNOW THAT IN THAT COMMUNITY THEY OFFER ELECTRONIC RECEIPTS FOR DEVELOPMENT LEVIES AND REVENUE?

THEY CAN PAY FROM THE COMFORT OF THEIR HOMES?

ALL THESE FROM AN INNOVATIVE MIND WHO DIDN'T LOOK DOWN ON MY IDEA.

THIS ALSO CREATED INDIRECT JOBS AS NEW CYBER CAFES SPRUNG UP IN THE COMMUNITY.

SOMETIMES THE LGA'S ALLOCATE JUST 500,000 NAIRA TO A CERTAIN COMMUNITY. BUT THIS GUYS MAKE X10 OF THAT AMOUNT IN A MONTH. IF NOT FOR THEIR THUGGERY AND ILLITERACY, THEY WOULD BE MILLIONAIRES. SAME THING APPLIES TO COMMERCIAL DRIVERS TOO.

BACK TO YOU MY 11K SALARY SON.

ITS TIME TO QUIT THAT JOB OR ELSE I RECALL YOU. angry angry angry

IF YOU HAVE NO IDEA, THEN RELOCATE TO ABUJA AND GET A CAR FOR UBER/TAXIFY.

AT LEAST I HAVE SEEN PEOPLE WHO MADE GOOD MONEY DOING THAT BUSINESS.

The truth is this, most graduates, undergraduates and those aspiring to get into various tertiary institutions have a wrong mindset along with unrealistic expectations before getting into higher institutions and after graduation.

Majority believes that the whole essence of seeking a higher knowledge is simply to get a high paying job but university certificates only states that "YOU HAVE BEEN FOUND WORTHY IN LEARNING AND IN CHARACTER" it didn't state that you are now eligible for a high paying job.

There should be a conscious mental reengineering especially in all the higher institutions of learning to inculcate it / drill it inside the heads of people to start seeing their education as an empowerment to become problem solvers and wealth creator's and not job hunters.

11k is less than 50 dollars a month.

People spend that amount on pizza and wings alone for just lunch.

God help his children. How can you openness and pay someone 11k as monthly salary. People are damn wicked.

Honestly most graduates do not get honour in this country. Just imagine! But man must survive.
Anyways I help children struggling to know how to write overcome their challenges. Do you stay in Festac and environs. A holiday home tutor will be a great idea.

Don't quit yet and go back to zero a month. You will just become a beggar immediately. Start applying for job openings, try microfinance banks once you're from commercial bank, they will take you and u can earn more. Do not make the mistake of quitting that job to remain at home idle hunger go render u nuts. Start sending out your applications and resume to different openings and be ready to leave your current city or state.

Well, my candid advice to u is to tell ur self the truth that u ain't working, u r suffering..... From 2018 to date u r assumed by family and friends to be a working class, with no single savings to treat ur self assuming u fell sick and get admitted.

For Christ sake where will the savings even come from... 11k per month as a PA to a bank manager?? Jesus, what's slavery again....

See eehh, leave all these talks of small job being better than no job plusaall the motivational speaker's yarns am reading here. Sincerely speaking eehh, a jobless fella who's all known to be jobless is better than u, in the sense that such have time to think, meet people, look for something, doesn't spend more than he gets and have his sanity at least...

Hw can u be leaving ur house every day, with the risk of lagos road, u'll wash ur clothes per week, u'll eat and transport u'll be pressured at work etc for just 11k. Please what does it solve? Replace the transport u use? Or buy groceries? Or laundry materials? Or change ur foot wears u treck with??... Meanwhile what pays for the effects of stress on ur body system/health? Cos u can't eat a balanced diet with it.

Why run a generator for 24 hrs when it's not giving light??

Please I beg you in the name of God, resign that job and sleep for a full day in ur house and allow your brain boot well on the way forward.
That job is distracting ur brain..... And u r gradually wearing out over nothing.

Resign immediately and engage ur brain on other ways u can make money than a white collarjob, which has dealt with our thought process in this country...
Ego of being a graduate...

Puff and other fried food sellers at most junctions in lagos are looked down on... But those guys r landlords or r on the way to be... Yet we iron cloths stuck in shirts and buy egg roll, puff etc from them every morning on our way to work we earn 11k monthly. Oh Jesus...

OGA PLEASE RESIGN IMMIDIATELY...please do... I won't talk about it being easy or not cos for me, u r coming out from suffering so need no encouragement. So please the only encouragement I have for u is to resign. If u think it all through and find nothing doing please open a puff/egg roll stand around any junction. Then see ur life get the needed funds to start up another thing bigger....

God's grace

Thank you. I share your views.

What is the essence of sending my child to a university and will now come home after graduation with 11,000 as monthly salary.A salary not befiting a primary school common entrance holder.
It is the failure of equipping themselves with knowledge and setting standard for wages while in school that will make many a graduate go for 11,000 naira job.
I know it is not easy out there, but many graduates look down on jobs which could have have been their start up in life, and chose to do low paying salary work.
I always tell my kids their is no space in our home for them to stay long after graduation. Deny them the comfort of free food and shelter after graduation, they will get sense and struggle to succeed.
My mother kept on hammering in us before our school cert. "No food, no shelter when 18" I owe you no obligations and government will not object if I send you out my home since you have become an adult.
After school cert we put aside shame and started doing any available jobs and it worked for us today.

11k per month. Is it in naira abi dollars. Local Ashawo in Ajengunle earns more than that per nite on a bad day fvck.

I will advise you stay on and earn their trust. Get an international passport. Get a South African visa. Then rob the bank of all the money in the vault and kidnap the your boss and collect ransom. Gather all the money and run to South Africa.

You can thank me later. You welcome.

Sorry bro.... Let me ask u a question based on this ur advice to this sufferingyyoung man Aby woman.

Do u think this 11k is feeding and transporting him in a month? If am not wrong, There are 30/31days in a month and this is an adult here. So assuming he suffers to live on 1k per day, hw about the remaining 19/20 days of the month ..

Again, at what time will he/she apply to the microfinance bank? In the night? Or weekends?

Did u hear the part that he said from 2018 to date he has no savings?? Don't u think he is begging already even as an assumed working class?? What makes u think he won't be a better begger with very high chance of getting support when he begs as a known unemployed person than having to beg as a working class, u will u dash him money as a working class?, because am sure that whatever way he is running the remaining days of the month is not far from begging even as a working class...

Please brother, don't give anyone this type of advice...

That suffer of a job is the hindrance to his progress bro. Quote me.

It's a very horrible situation to be in, especially when there is that societal pressure hanging on one's shoulder. Horrible is an understatement infact lol. I am the shy type and hate to bother people for anything but I have amazed myself by some of the people I've spoken to,called, emailed, begged stylishly( so humiliating! lol), some of them are complete strangers. Again lesson learnt/being learned.

When you have no 'connection' in Nigeria, you are an orphan of a kind.

You will soon start thinking of starting a family either you like it or not.
What kind of family do you envision for yourself. Fear of unknown have ruined so many dreams. Don't drag your wife and kids to your hustling by starving them and urge them to pray.
Starve yourself now to get there.
Save just 20k and quit.
Even NPower is more paying than your so called job.
Quit and pick your pieces together.
Go and learn a lucrative trade by pretending to be an IT student/SIWES.
