it is a protest n nothing more, at least let them contradict what a peaceful protest entails before putting them in handcuffs, my opinion we are practicing a dictatorial gvt nothing close to democracy anymore, you site an example of 2 face protest at first I knew he was well paid to call it off same way challie boy sold out the people for money, there is always an ulterior motive, the only reason why they arrested sawore is probably he has refused to take bribes or danced to their tune

but i thought your pay masters said they arrested him to save him from setting himself on fire.

So how do u think he would achieve 'bundle Buhari out of that place'? by mobilzing people to aso rock and drag him out? definitely No.What if Sowore wants to re-enact the Arab spring style? u remember how it started?..Although I doubt Sowore would have set himself ablazed..he has enough fortune to still enjoy on earth..however he is very ambitious.

Sowore shouldn't have used the word 'revolution' a protest will do. Revolution is vast.

Simple protest will turn to a revolution by just keeping the motive in mind. Nigeria is too sensitive with alot of intelligent people.

Buharis Govt has alot of think tank that will do anything to secure the govt. Even if he has said just protest they would still arrest him. But that would have been more civil word to use.

For a revolution to take place in Nigeria the motive must be kept secrete by the organisers. Then turn it to whatever they preplanned n the process. Or it could also come by force. Well Sowore knew they would arrest him. His plans are working.

I'm not Igbo. I supported Buhari in 2015 and realized that he's incompetent and I supported Sowore in 2019 cos the big two lack ideas to move the country forward.
Just because many of us wants a kakistocrat to leave the seat of power doesn't mean we hate him. It means that we love the country better than him

Revolution definition from 2 different dictionaries;

1. rev·o·lu·tion

a forcible overthrow of a government or social order, in favor of a new system.

synonyms: rebellion, revolt, insurrection, mutiny, uprising, riot, rioting, rising, insurgence, insurgency, coup, overthrow, seizure of power, regime change;

2. : a sudden, radical, or complete change
a fundamental change in political organization

especially : the overthrow or renunciation of one government or ruler and the substitution of another by the governed

While I am strongly in support of freedom of speech and association, I really don't think any government in the world wouldn't act on organizers of a protest which have been widely publicised as a "REVOLUTION" protest.

In my PERSONAL opinion, a better adjective or word should have been used for the so called protest.

Occupy Nigeria is a good example
The 2 face 1 million march which he later called off is another.

Whats your take?

This is coming on the heels of the purported arrest of Sowere.

they should tagged it occupy Nigeria season 2 or revised edition?? The problem is, the hypocritical nature of nigerians and their self styled Democrats who in real sense are kleptocrats..

That's like saying that all young boys should be shot because an armed robber first starts off as young boy, grows into a man, takes up arms and starts robbing people.

Should we kill all young boys because of the possibility that some of them could be armed robbers in the future? No, that would be very stupid. That's how stupid your argument is

Freedom of expression and protest is enshrined in section 39 of the Nigerian constitution. The authorities are bound by law to allow people to freely protest. If the protest turns violent, then the authorities can move in and arrest the violent protesters. That is how civilised countries act

I hope when you see war, you don't run with your tail in between your legs. No country is perfect, face front, these leaders are there because of the moral decadence in the society that glorifies wealth as opposed to lasting moral values. Revolution should start from families, start inculcating good moral upbringing in kids and in 20 years time, we will start seeing the result. Sowore can't change anything for us, he's not the solution to our problems so what is he protesting for

My take is if d govt is doing d right thing d right way, it won't b scared of protest or revolution. D Shiite guys protested 4d release of their leader based on a court order given in 2016 which d govt has continued to disobey. They weren't asking 4 revolution. Am sure u no d outcome of that

Myopic!!

So if a group of people write the CBN they are coming to rob, you expect the government to sit and watch when they know the identity of these people just because we are in a democratic setting?

And when they come to rob and the incidence claim lives and properties, it is you and your people that will blame the government for being too "slow"

Bokoharam started with the ideology of Western Education is a sin..it started like they were preaching the gospel...see where we are today!
If the government had done the needful when the movement was a baby, only God knows if we would be having any boko nightmare now...

Some of these systems were never designed for the black man.
at this point I conclude you don't have a single atom of sense at all, all effort made to convince you that freedom of speech shouldn't be limited based on talk and no concrete evidence of revolt in a democratic government proved abortive, nothing on earth can convince you, I believed you were paid well their money is working wonders if na me sef I go do worse but you can't convince us buhari is on track because he is not

The clear definition of Revolution is clearly written up there...

Trying to water it down or use ur own narative to suit yiur personal opinions wouldnt change the facts or meaning of a revolution. Again no sane government will watch someone mobilize for a revolution against her government

Which citizens will sit and watch her common wealth to be mismanaged and looted?

Everything isn't about which govt will allow this or that..... You should rather ask which people will sit and watch their leaders loot without questioning.

You still dont get it. We are in a democracy. People should be allowed to say whatever they like. What matters is what people do. You cannot charge a person to court for 'talking'. If Sowore likes, he can protest that he wants Buhari to step down. If Sowore likes , he can protest that he wants Snow to fall in Lagos. The constitution has given him the right to protest for whatever reason. The constitution has also given him the right of free speech as long as what he says is not being used to commit crime. If the authorities have any evidence that Sowore wants to use the protest to fo something unlawful, then they should arrest and charge him to court

But if the authorities arrested him because he mentioned the word 'revolution' or that he said he wants 'bundle Buhari out of office' then this arresting a man for merely talking.

If governments start going after people for what they said, as opposed to what they do, then it is no longer democracy, it is dictatorship.

If you cannot understand all this and still insist that the government is right to go after Sowore because of the words he used then it means you dont understand democracy and how it works

A question for you at this point:
that a BAD neighbour of yours in a very low voice to your ears, says 'tonight, me and my gangs are coming to deal with you'.
what will be your lines of action? kindly enumerate step by step in a very sincere way.
Note: This is somebody that has seen you with his girlfriend earlier but didnt know that you were only advising her against her waywardness you noticed recently. This has been a guy that beefs you because you go to work minding your business and try to be responsible as much as you can. This is also a guy you know that he fraternizes with a couple of deadly guys in your neighbourhood full of envy, particularly to your little success.
I wish you respond to this and thanks as you do so...

Seems we are deviating away from the honest truth. Who will ever revolt against a good government, I mean the government that put citizens first as well as put in place policies that favors the citizen?

If you can answer this question then you will explain the sanity in arresting Sowore.
Re: Will Any Government In The World Sit And Watch A "Revolution" Protest? by taiyeayodeji: 9:00am On Aug 04, 2019
i dont think there is anything wrong in freedom of speech.everybody has a right to express himself but all over the world, unorganized protest are illegal.there are procedures for staging a protest.Approval are obtained from the police .this is necessary because the person or group organizing it must take responsibility for any damages in the course of protest.what happens if some people destroys someone else car or somebody is killed.who will be responsible, so the police and law enforcement agency must be on ground. this requires planning by the law enforcement agency , man power must be allocated and resources. the fire agency must be on ground incase of fire. somebody can't just wake to alter people program .i assume some people have invested so much on a particular thing or maybe a project is to be executed on that said day and it's disrupted because of the protest. so this is why people have to be noted earlier on time .there is no how, you won't find miscreant among the protesters .so things have to be done according to the law , this is how it is done all over the world and when its done contrary to the law, its the duty of the law enforcement agency to ensure things are done according to the law

This made the FG to proscribe them as a terorist Group.

Exhibit C!

Sowore go suffer for prison. Planning to overthrow a legitimate government
Buhari is not the major problem of Nigeria.... People easily attack Buhari for everything when they don't even know the people representing them in federal and State level....

I'm not saying that Buhari is a saint... But lets first question our representatives who are closer to us.

Protest to them...
