I am having a serious overheating issue in my 2014 Kia Rio. My mechanic said it was top casket, he changed it and still giving me same issue. Now the car isn't even starting. It just start once and won't come on again.

He is now saying my AC compressor is overpowering my engine. But outside that it still overheat in a little distance of about 30minutes without the AC but will overheat in less than 10mins when AC is ON.

Please help a brother. I just tire.

Take it to Kia specialists.
Your mechanic is doing trial and error work.

Don't take any more Chances

First and foremost, complete the entire story - when and how did it start to overheat? What did you or your mechanic do afterwards? Scan, the vehicle and post the codes here. When you do, I'll call in the calvary.

Once the factory fitted top gasket gets burnt, you will need an OEM replacement to avoid overheating. Alternatively replace the engine. Anything you do outside the listed options is like pouring water into a basket. You will keep spending money with no positive result.

I am also hearing this kind of knocking sound from the engine and the engine just goes off when the AC is ON. The engine will just keep vibrating.

1st thing change your mechanic
AC will never overpower the engine, AC gets power from the engine via the AC clutch

if changig the headgasket due to overheating, you need the head to be skimed then put all back together and then do the right timing

i suggest you do a compression test on all cylinders

Time for a new engine then. And change your mechanic. If he can't change gasket and overhaul a small Kia Rio engine, he should be restricted to changing just engine oil and filter.

blah blah blah

if u like,overhaul till eternity

change ur mechanic to Henry ford

that car needs an engine replacement.....simple!

oem gaskets oh,aftermarket oh.....it wont work

if it overhears mildly more than once, replace engine

if it overhears severely once, replace engine

that car will humble a very good mechanic that doesnt have experience with it

engine cost die.....600k and above

op.....it is well sir

Your car just became a victim of wrong diagnosis ,even if it rightly proven that your headgasket got broken due to overheating ,there is still a root cause responsible that broke the gasket( gasket will never break for any reason ) which has not been identified and removed and even after gasket has been replaced , thr overheating will still be waiting for you .
However ,the painfully part with the gasket change is that the engine cannot be the same again cos compression ratio has been altered due to the gasket change ,and what about if there is nothing wrong with the headgasket initially ,then the engine has been wrongly opened up for literally no reason and unnecessary altered due to ignorance on part of kazeem and owner inability to patronize professionals. It quite unfortunate that in our country ,most mechanics hands are faster than their brain ,they don't give time to perform thorough root cause analyse session before repair ,cos no reason for engine to be opened up unless the mechanic is 100% sure ,this is the reason I always empathize on 100% diagnosis cos engine opened up can never be stock again .
I will not only advice you to change mechanic also to learn from experience to only patronize recommended professional mechanics cos it will be cheaper in the long run and give u rest of mind .
Average Nigeria car owner dont take diagnosis serious but will only call for it when the car issue has gone overboard and at that level ," things might have fallen apart " grin
In my workshop ,any car owner that is not interested in our intensive diagnosis session before fix can never be our customer .
On my last shot ,even if the op change engine eventually and doesn't remove the root cause of the overheating ,the car will unfortunately overheat again . Reasons? Overheating is not a problem itself but just a symptoms of existing problem.

Don't waste your money or time change engine that's the solution. Those Engine were not build with quality in mind, once they over heat even small that's the beginning of the end

or do what was recommended in that thread though not for the faint hearted

car radiator fan fails.....it has three speeds, and the third and highest speed doesn't come on when the ac is on

car cluster doesn't have temperature gauge....only blue and red lights to denote temperature

the red won't come on except its severe, and sometimes wont come on at all

the combination of these two factors is why theres a high rate of overheating on these cars

after overheating......you already know wosgoinon
