Then come back

He can't, probably because

1. He's probably paying back the loan he obtained to finance his travelling.

Or,

2. His passport is withheld by his employer, and would not be handed over to him, until the completion of his contract which is mostly 2years.

You need to weigh yourself and know what your chances are before coming here. As someone said you need to have something to fall back on wherever you are coming from because you will most likely not get a job when you come here. We are in the minority in terms of numbers and expertise. What is good about UAE is that it is relatively easy to come here and search for a job but your chances are slim as a Nigerian. So you can come and search but have backup plan. If your visa expires and you never get job, just leave, don't fall into the trap many have fallen into.

If you have a good paying job or business, don't leave that and come here looking for job. Your pay might be higher here but what of living conditions say for example you are being paid 2000 dirhams which is 200000 naira. Interms of UAE standard this is very low and you may end up living in a labour camp, paid by your company, it all depends on where you are working and if accomodation is not covered you will have to secure a bed space. Can you stay in small room with so many people, some can't do it.

UAE I think favours the young. I will not advise anyone with kids to come here except you've got a very good paying job. Reason is the school fees is quite high. And how will cater for that if you have 2 or more kids. The only alternative is to leave your family back home and visit regularly which I will advise against if I were asked to give my opinion on it.

And if you decide to come here you need to stand out from the rest. Your CV should have something a prospective employer would like. There is no harm in employing the services of CV writing company to make your CV better. There are many available.

UAE is a very good country but like any other country it has good and bad sides, the good ones outweighs the bad ones I must say. You need to seriously analyse your situation in Nigeria, compare it what you think you will gain by coming here and ask yourself if it's really worth it.

UAE is not for everyone in my opinion.

Bless you brother, don't mind him nor waste your precious time on him. You see, that's one thing I despise in most Nigerian youths, they don't learn from anything. They as well, attack any advice that counters their opinion, instead of picking out one or two sense from it and apply it to their next move. Most of them don't even carry-out their research before visiting any country, they just join the bandwagon of where it's happening now. Some don't even know that it's illegal to drink alcohol here in any form and that's why it's not sold. Yet when they arrive, they indulge in the services of the street urchins who give them the impression that "nothing dey happen", even CID dey come here drink, and at the end of the day, they get arrested and town into jail! Like NONNYG said sometime, nobody is holding anyone back from coming to UAE, cause some people will always twist your advice to their own negative perspective! Yes, most of us are living good, and doing well. But can you pay the price?? You're still asking if 600k will be enough to cover ticket, visa, accommodation, and job placement (I see your failure already), yet you're talking about luck, prayer, and grace(who did this to our youths?). It's like waiting for a plane in a bus station. You have your God, they have theirs, they don't believe in yours same way you don't believe in theirs, so how do you expect your own God to overcome theirs and grant you their luck and grace? It's common sense. Be prepared, if you have 2-3million, you can move here, get you EID, get an apartment and start a life! Not decivng yourself of succeeding where others didn't cause you believe in God with 600k!!! Una don see us wey no Sabi God. Some will be chanting the only thing they know, "come back na". Mumu people, how can someone who has investment over here come back? Some that are even begging you not to come yet you're tell them to come back, can't even pay their overstay penalties cause it's amounting to millions already and you can never ever exit the country without paying, while some don't even have return ticket.... In fact jare I rest my case. Who no go, no go know.

Like I said. U sound pained. U can always drop ur point without the insults,.that's a childish behavior, if you can't help with the essence of this thread pls you can stop replying.. You can NEVER tell the story of another man, stop discouraging people. .... Full stop

His opinion doesn't have to be balance. He's entitled to what you term "negative opinion" This is a public forum Biko!

However, he needn't use abusive or offensive words to do that.

This group is "...VISA ENQUIRIES" It is not primarily for MOTIVATION, I guess. You don't ask questions just to get ONLY positive answers Sir.

I see so many people in the comfort of their home in Nigeria quoting almost everyone and has the best idea of how things were in UAE than those staying there, but find it very difficult to make a decision because the number of negative comments coming is not encouraging. If you have your money, time and plan, and you are so convinced about how it works why waiting and hoping for juicy comments? All I know is Everyone is Architect of his destiny, if you have your money come xperience it and you can have a story to tell, but have it at the back of your mind that the chance of getting work is 30% and probably visa change or go back home 70% if anybody is telling you 50:50 run for your dear life cos its not anymore, so if you have strong believe and requirement to fit into 30% and excel dont be discouraged, enter flight come get the experience. YOUR MONEY, YOUR VISA, YOUR LUCK.so nobody is discouraging anyone all saying what to expect but if you are waiting for juicy stories, OYO

Bro, since you've refused to understand what most of the people over there are trying to say and you're insisting they're only discouraging people from hitting from the goldmine, i'd suggested you save you breathe and move over to uae, only then can you tell us here if truly they meant well for us or otherwise. If you're not ready to go, I suggest you hold ur peace, bcoz even those who moved recently are sounding same warning and you're bent to listen to those who've been there for over 8yrs. Just know one thing, it's only a stubborn fly that follows the corpse to grave, continue arguing and don't learn from their stories.

Anybody that still finds this thread worthwhile with all these bickering going on is 100% up to no good.
Brothers and sisters nothing new can be said here for both sides of the divide..... the whole lengthy argumentative posts is getting nauseating......
A word is enough for the wise but a million has been said already. Please let's get more objective discussions or we maintain the peace of the house.
Thanks all (no more e-fighting please)

I have been reading this thread for awhile and feel so sad how our youths go through so much pain and suffering to make a living! Our leaders are the cause of all this! There is something I can do to help, although it's metaphysical in nature(just 3 mins of ur time). When it's done there is no kind of job u won't get. It's a secret of mine and it has been working for me. The only problem I have with Nigerians is that they don't like helping one another!!

It’s true that job is now relatively scarce, unlike before, even for other nationalities but it’s wrong to discourage people from coming to search for jobs in UAE. As someone rightly wrote, the thread was not meant to discourage people from coming here.
There are many reasons why most Nigerians are not getting jobs. Mostly, these days, it’s what we have to offer in terms of experience and expertise and how we position ourselves for the little opportunities that gets us the job. Nobody is interested in what you went through or how much you’ve spent to make yourself available in UAE.
We do help ourselves beyond what many are insinuating here but you can’t take over people’s life or force them to take some steps to better their chances just because you want to help them. The fact that most people that were assisted don’t give comments to appreciate our kind gesture on pages of nairaland or elsewhere for people to read doesn’t mean that Nigerians are not helping one another.
As per whether Nigerians are suffering here, fingers are not equal and you don’t expect things to automatically turn rosy for you once you move out of Nigeria.
Finally, I don’t think it’s necessary for us to litter the thread with how much we are enjoying life or suffering in uae but I can assure you that there are many Nigerians who are doing great financially and in their careers here in UAE and Alhamdulillah, I am one of them.
I will come here to testify the grace of God like you InshaAllah

Everything here are only Job, Job & Job grin. Some people like myself are very industrious kind of people and are better off in the field than in front of a desk with am employer to report to.

How about running a business in Dubai. Let's say exportation of tech gadgets, clothing and jewelries, automobiles etc. And I mean freelance one man business that does not necessarily requires a physical office/structure

Isn't that possible over there?

Possible, but you need to plan on what visa? How much to export? Who will monitor? How much is gain? Etc.

Well we just need to think out of the box. Nigeria is a consumption ground and we live mostly based on imports.
If there are items over there that can be sold here, I think Dubai export business is feasible. I have read on some Dubai freelance VISA that gives a year residence permit for around 7500AED.

But anyways, I'm just trying to view Dubai from another angle.

More inputs from people who are there and have been there could help.
