If you are applying for fall semester, make sure you submit you application before May 1st. If its for Winter, please make sure you submit before September 1st. This allows for enough time and avoid one falling into the rush hour and being a victim of mass refusals for unnecessary and flimsy reasons. On a normal day, most of this applications would scale through. But now we have generic refusal reasons and Copy and paste gcms telling one the study plan is vague and poorly explained. I was once refused before my second app scaled through. I will kindly advise, relax, think it through, dont be in a rush to reapply, seek assistance from friends rather than agents to look at you sop and help make a checklist of documents you require. You might be omitting a key document but when you share with a friend, he will come to rescue. Dont say you can't wait, you don't have time, you dont want this year to waste, if you are so much in a rush, then try another country, CIC are like babes, you don't rush them, its slow and steady. Remember, nothing good comes easy. Plan well and deal with CIC/IRCC. Allow your anger calm down and you will come good. Cheers!!! 2 Likes |

Fair enough Frankrobbn1:
I'm not saying that there won't be approval.... But, the rate of refusals will supersede the approval! From Monday until now, we have over 10 refusals on this thread with few/no news of approval..... It's a normal trend for IRCC when it comes to this peak period during school resumption.
I'm just seeing this now. 1 Like |

@waynee2baba and Frankrobbn1, both of you have very valid points. I just want to add to both views.
While it is always advisable to apply early for study permits due to various reasons one being 'pressure' on the officers to conclude on these applications by applicants as well as meeting their stipulated processing time, it is also not completely detrimental to apply later or close to resumption date especially if one has a very good reason(application) and can convince through with such application. Applications as we all know are processsed all through the year irrespective of the resumption date. Each application are concluded based on it's individual merit and uniqueness.
Also, there are other factors that must be considered too. These applications go through different stages(security, background, eligibility checks etc)and some may completely not be at the discretion or instance of the officer untill maybe the final stage(decision making) considering the numbers of application to be concluded on to meet resumption dates. During these peak periods, the stages may not take or go through a particualr order as it would during the less application period which may lead to an officer not carefully considering all evidenced documentation presented before him/her .
Applications from our part of the world go through rigorous scruitnity to determine essentially 'INTENT'. So rather than considering the academic purposes of these applications alone as it should be, officers largerly would also consider the intent behind these applications hence different factors would be considered. (Age,year of previous study, recent activities, strong home ties etc). All these during the peak periods i would assume may not be well establised by an officer hence you see a very good application refused on a rather ridiculous reason(s).
However, it still isn't enough to say applications during these peak periods stand a high chance to be refused or that the government have reached it's quota for the year. Statistics have shown that Nigeria has about the lowest positive issuance of the study permit all round the year in recent time. This ofcourse are from obvious reasons. We are not even close to our counterparts from Asia and other part of the world who usually would stand better chance.
Having mentioned these, it is highly advisable to apply months before resumption dates. However, this does not guarentee an approval or mean that such application would be delayed or refused. The only thing i feel is that it would give an applicant sufficient time to readdress an issue in a case of a refusal or respond to a correspondence from the processing office.
So yes, both of you have made good points and they are valid. An application is processes and assesed based on it's merit but there is always and 'unknown' extra when Nigerians are involved, more so when there is an influx of applications that sometimes do not even pass the eligibility stage. It becomes difficult to see through the good ones.

@Austinpee4, nice to hear from you again, longest time bro . You have said it all but to add to your point and in my own opinion, this visa approval stuff is just by luck it's not a matter of how perfect your application is and another thing I would advise people to.always take note is do not overload your application, screen and remove all unnecessary documents, the more garbage documents you submit, the more time it takes for the VO to verify all your documents (not to talk of when we now know these VOs are impatient to review documents anymore) and also too much documents can raise a red flag when the VO notice any contradictions in some of the documents you have submitted most people dont know this can also lead to refusal. Austinpee can testify to this, in the past, we have so many people that kept their applications simple and tight with all necessary documents and they still got an approval while we that overloaded our application took forever to be approved/many was refused. Some people will include all the academic credentials of their 5 siblings starting from primary school to the highest level attained and other funny documents (I have seen an app like this). I applied for my study visa in October 2016 against winter 2017 term, when I noticed my app wasn't approved in the last week of December, I contacted my school to defer my admission till summer, I waited till last week of april 2017 still no show from cic, I contacted my school again to defer till fall, around early june 2017, cic requested for a new admission letter in other to proceed with my app, I sent the fall admission letter and after 2 weeks, my app was approved. One of my colleagues who also had same funding package and same supervisor as me got his 1st admission letter 3weeks to resumption for fall term, he applied 2weeks to resumption and his application was approved 4days to the R-day, the guy booked his flight asap. since then, I realized everything is by grace of God. it also depends on the mood of the VO at the point of reviewing your app this is where much prayer comes in. We cant say they have reached their quota for the year, how about people from other countries? The rate at which they approve these people ehn even when their resumption date is close, they will still be approved, most times I doubt if they actually checked their documents. For everyone still waiting for approval, be optimistic, there is nothing impossible under the sky, it has happened before and it will still happen, your case is different and God hasn't forgotten about you. I wish one day, Nigerian application would be treated with priority like all.other countries, this people even trust ghanaians more than us. More approval coming by his grace PS: for those that asked me questions in the previous pages and via my email, am highly sorry I haven't responded, please kindly forgive me, i cant intentionally ignore your questions, it hasn't been easy tho but I.promise to respond asap . 11 Likes |

Estar400: Hello house
Please I would like you to advice me on the best way forward with regards my husband's application.
My husband got a full PhD. scholarship from WLU and he has put forward his online application. Please see the timeline below:
Submission Confirmation - May 6 Confirmation of online application - May 6 Biometrics Collection Letter - May 7 Biometrics Completion - May 9 Medical Report letter - June 19 Medical Result - July 12 Biometrics Correpondence Letter - July 22
He is to resume 1st week of September 2019 and up until now, he hasn't received any mail to submit his passport. Also, he is yet to resign from work since he hasn't gotten the study permit confirmation and he is required to give 1 month notice in lieu of resignation.
He sent a webform last week to make inquiry concerning his application but he is yet to get any response.
Please house what do you consider the best step going forward?
1. Should he wait until the visa comes out and then email the school that he will be coming in late since he got the visa late? (that would mean resuming October)
2. Should he just ask the school to defer his admission to the Winter term (January 2020)? Would that mean getting a new admission letter and sending it to the IRCC?
3. Or should he just wait and do nothing and let the application run its course.
Please your prompt advice will be highly appreciated.
Thank you. Let him email his school to give him more time(most schools give 14 days for students to resume after resumption), hopefully before then he will hear from CIC. Also he should send email to CIC again (to their Lagos, London, Kenya and Accra offices ) reminding them politely how far his application has gone. Most passports will be dispatched in the next 2 weeks(it is a trend). As for the resignation, it is his choice, but it is 99% certain he will get his passport request |

Congratulations on your approval. This isn't something you should worry about.
For those that are currently facing this or in future will encounter this simply send a CSE to Kenya, Nairobi Immigration office and you will receive the introduction letter updated on your MyCIC Account within 24 hours.
I HAVE BEEN APPROVED OF MY VISA, BUT I AM YET TO RECEIVE AN INTRODUCTION LETTER ON MYCIC ACCOUNT
Below is a drafted sample mail by me that you can send to the Kenya Immigration office;
Hello Respected Sir/Ma,
I hope this mail meets you well. My name is XXXXXXXX , I am a successful Canadian study visa applicant. I write to inform you that my application was approved on DD/MM/YYYY and my visa has also been appended on my passport. However, I haven't received an official introduction letter from your office which I am to submit to the immigration officer at the point of entry into Canada and that troubles me a lot as my course intake is drawing near, and my flight has already been booked for DD/MM/YYYY.
Kindly assist me with this issue and expedite the processing of my introduction letter. I do not want to miss classes and the orientation week as that would make it difficult for me to adjust later, putting into account the difficulty of settling down in a new country as an international student.
I am looking to getting your immediate and positive response.

As in those people’s own they fear me...I’m June 14, still waiting. I can’t defer yet until 17th Sept. Indians usually apply via a newly launched programme called SDS (Student Direct Stream) They need to meet three rules: 1. The students are required to obtain 6 bands in each module in IELTS test to apply visa under SDS program. 2. The students are required to deposit entire tuition fee of the first year at the Canadian institution instead of semester fee. The institution either college or university should possess valid Designated Learning Institution (DLI) number. 3. The student should obtain GIC (Guaranteed Investment Certificate) of $10,000. It generally speeds up the processing time for them. Other nationals that are eligible include China, Philippines and Vietnam. Others that do not meet the aforementioned rules apply via Non-SDS. The average processing time for Non-SDS is usually lengthy. This SDS scheme will ensure they have good English skills, no stress of earning and paying first year fees (GIC) It generally brings better prepared students to Canada and eliminates the pool of low-skilled workers. If this kind of programme is introduced in Nigeria, not everyone can meet the strict rules. Now you see why some of their applications are processed faster 5 Likes 1 Share |

Ayoola03: @Austinpee4, nice to hear from you again, longest time bro .
More approval coming by his grace
PS: for those that asked me questions in the previous pages and via my email, am highly sorry I haven't responded, please kindly forgive me, i cant intentionally ignore your questions, it hasn't been easy tho but I.promise to respond asap .
Thanks for your insightful information. I am delighted to see you as well the pioneer members of this great forum. 3 Likes |

Thank you so much Mr Frank, I already shared my details last night sir. Frankrobbn1:
Hello ebby29,
I can really understand how disheartened and depressed you're at this point after been rejected for the third time.
However, I would like you know that few people have achieved success by trying once and most people who have achieved success in their various applications is because they have tried multiple times. The more you try, the more chances you give yourself of succeeding. Even Rome itself, wasn’t built in a day. Giving up signifies that you no longer believe in your capabilities and strengths. Giving up means that you are not ready to learn from your mistakes. Giving up means that you have accepted defeat. Instead, carry on with the struggle, put more effort, avoid the wrong turns that you made before and appreciate the fact that no Application, absolutely no Application, is perfect!
Always remember, that for you to be successful, you must believe in yourself even when things are not working out as planned!
Share me your profile here. Let's see how it goes in your next Application! My sincere apologies to those that were recently refused of their Visas.
It shall end in praises for everyone.

waynee2baba: How does Writer, Graphics Artist, Website Designer relate to Psychology? Purpose of visit and your SOP has grammatical issues Sorry Wayne, i think i might have posted this under your name and not under the intended person who posted his letter. Hello House, Quite a very long time. I have observed that most rejection letters now come with ties in Canada and in home country and this gives me a bit of concern because i have not been able to establish what they could mean by ties in Canada and it seems we also do overlook that in our contributions. Two different people i saw their rejection reason as tie in Canada, one had a sibling studying in Canada and the other does not have anyone in Canada but what i noticed they have in common was employment situation....(not currently employed at the time or just had internships as experience. What do we think about this ties in Canada house? any contribution to help others would be great. The last time i visited this thread was sometime in 2017 when i got my study visa and moved to Canada. I will also encourage others who received their visas to share detailed information on what they applied in their application, how they tackled their letters of explanation, their previous courses and courses they went for. If it is a one year or two year program etc. It makes more sense for people to connect with that than just coming to share your time line and receive congrats. It would be helpful if you can present them the same way people who are rejected present their cases. -----with respect to your Letter of explanation....It could have contributed to your rejection. I like the way you were detailed or documented things you used for anyone to see at a glance as well as detailing equivalent value in dollars. Still retain that on your next application. I think you probably missed it trying to tie graphic writing, web designing etc with psychology. It is not very convincing. It doesn't make a lot of sense how a knowledge in psychology will help boost your business in graphic design or the likes you have mentioned. It would make more sense if you were using knowledge of psychology for organization management. In essence, your aim would rather be to obtain that knowledge to help you improve staff relations, customer relation, team building, your entire organization to boost growth and get it to an international standard you may be seeking. To help your business or organization stand out among its competitors. Viewing this from the angle you have tackled it, I would probably have chosen a different course that is not psychology.Perhaps, something like business analytics, business analysis, even strategic management would be more suitable in this case. So consider re-writing your letter to fit into the previous suggestion or choose a different course that aligns more with your intentions. Goodluck 5 Likes |
