Humility017: In attempting to throw aspersions on a person or idea it's better to be methodical and objective. State your position from a standpoint of knowledge. I don't know if you are still in secondary school and as a result you lack capacity to present a substantive based approach to your arguments. You seem filled with youthful exuberance but very little intelligence. And certainly over taken by emotive sentiment and prejudice. But let's be constructive state why you think he is a good quality addition to the SE in comparison to other players. Since we are talking defenders compare him to Fikayo, Odubanjo and Dominic. That approach will have you considered to be intelligent as opposed to the opposite. You are still yet to PROVE YOURSELF RIGHT in the last tirade of emotive based allegations you made. You have obviously conceded DEFEAT and gone into EVASION. |

andrew444: Consider the bold and look at yourself in the mirror. Rationality will require logic, objectivity and methodology. First of all you should state the players l have suggested that are MEDIOCRE and why. You have implied Fred Onyedinma. When was the last time l called for his inclusion ❓ Actually two seasons ago. I very graciously gave you a indepth history lesson on the subject and why my position changed. So to talk about him is HIGHLY IRRATIONAL on your part. Finally, I was born in the UK but made in Warri. I don’t know about Warri, "I be area" That's why many moons ago l was trying to get Etebo and before him Mba linked to EPL clubs. So I still operate on ground level. |

Barryseal: I agree there is a good degree of double standard. However, with regards to Omeruo and Ekong it was thier muted exploits in Europe and most definitely youth national team glories that gave them the opportunity for the SE. The question is how do you measure quality in a player. The quality and league you are playing in are clear indicators. However, they are not absolutely conclusive. That's why l stick to my never ending football quality selection proposition. Which is ; It's better to be a Lion in a lower league and club than an anonymous mouse in a top club and league. The question is he outstanding in that league ❓ l also think you cannot compare scoring 10 goals in the EPL to for instance scoring 30 in the NPFL. So let's always keep matters in context. |

SE HOPEFULS BEST XI (ROUND 3) CENTER-FORWARD Tammy Abraham now joins the legion of SE HOPEFULS as he expressed his openness to the possibility of representing Nigeria in an exclusive interview with ACL Sports recently. Coupled with his brace for Chelsea in the last EPL round, Tammy upstages David Okereke as the top center-forward so far this 19/20 season, considering he plays in the highest rated league (UEFA Coefficient Ranking for 2019 Season). Prior to his goals, Tammy has enjoyed lots of minutes under Chelsea's new handlers, and also has a Super Cup assist to his credit. On the other hand, Okereke has found it hard to put his name on the scoresheet lately, and has not been able to replicate his Jupiler league form in UEFA Champions league qualifiers, failing to score after 4 games. The battle continues for this sole forward spot though. ADVANCE MIDFIELD We have familiar faces here as Ebere Eze returns to the squad after missing out in our previous SE HOPEFULS post, whereas, Samuel Eduok drops off. Eze was named to the Championship Team of the Week by WhoScored with the HIGHEST rating (8.9) for a Championship Player. His immense contribution in QPR's 3-1 home win over Wigan earned him rave reviews in various media outlets. Eze has earned two MOTM mentions so far in this current season. Abdul Ajagun remains unrivaled in the AM role despite failing to make a mark in Kortrijk's weekend loss. Ajagun's spot in the team is not guaranteed in future though, as other rival midfielders can still play as AMs. Sheyi Ojo keeps his spot as an inverted winger although he has caused all sorts of problems to opposing defenders this season whenever he is found operating from his preferred LW/LM role. Seyi has 4 goals and made 3 assists in all competitions this season, but has Club Brugge's Dennis Bonaventure, who scored in UEFA Champions League qualification, following behind closely. CENTER-MIDFIELD Ovie Ejaria failed to get a consecutive spot in WhoScored's Championship Team of the Week, but continued to sparkle scoring for Reading in their 2-0 win at Huddersfield. DEFENSIVE-MIDFIELD Kingsley Michael made his long awaited Serie A bow for Bolgona over the weekend, lasting 77 minutes. Michael also started for Bologna 5 days prior to the Verona tie, as he was featured for 90 mins in their 3-0 away win over Serie B side, AC Pisa in Coppa Italia. These feats by the former Golden Eaglet midfielder ensures that he eclipses Anderson Esiti as the most impressive SE Hopeful Defensive Midfielder so far. Esiti, on his part, failed to inspire his Greek side, PAOK, as they lost away to a Slovakian opposition in Europa League 1st leg play off. Esiti has enjoyed more playing time this season though, playing a part in the back-to-back UEFA qualification bouts with Ajax and also clocking 90 minutes in the just started Greek Super League season. To reclaim a spot in the SE Hopefuls XI, the forgotten Eagle would need to be outstanding in the lowly Greek League and also try to help PAOK overturn the 1-0 deficit as they take on Slovan Bratislava in the Europa League play-off 2nd leg tomorrow. And of course, that is if Michael fails to get more playing time in the Italian top flight. FULL BACKS Felix Agu is still proving untouchable in the backline. I have moved him to the LB position, where he has also played in the Bundesliga II this season, while the less impressive Chima Okoroji takes the back seat this week. And this gives way for Kingsley Ehizibue in Right-Back. The Dutch-Nigerian has made a U-turn as he now fancies his chances with the Nigerian national team. Although Kingsley has suffered two losses in this Bundesliga season, he has enjoyed the maximum possible playing time, and is playing at the highest level compared to his SE hopefuls Full-Back contemporaries. CENTER-BACK Despite failing to feature for Chelsea in their 3-2 win at Norwich on Saturday, and only managing a cameo this season in Chelsea's Super Cup loss to Liverpool, Fikayo Tomori keeps his place by virtue of lack of competition. There isn't any deserving SE Hopeful center-back out there who has enjoyed more playing time than the former England junior international, except Ike Opara who's had a longer season in the MLS. And talking about Opara, he also keeps his spot as the second center-back in this week's XI. GK On August 24th, Austin Ejide returned to action in the Israeli first tier (Ligat Ha'Al). As captain, he helped Hapoel Hadera force a draw against visiting FC Ashdod. Didn't you ask for it? ... I'll be curious to know if there is a more active SE Hopeful GK out there, 6 Likes

Joe Aribo is twisting heads at Glasgow Rangers - barely three months after joining from Charlton Athletic. His superb performances and willingness to improve earned him a maiden call-up to the Nigeria national team. Despite his fast-rising stock, Aribo is relatively unknown in his homeland. What exactly is so special about the 23-year-old? As with other major tournaments, the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) brought down the curtain on careers of some respected African stars. For the Super Eagles, it was former Chelsea midfielder, John Obi Mikel. The 32-year-old was humbled to a mere spectator in Egypt - following proceedings from the bench. With the veteran of nearly two decades having stepped aside, there was a need for a competent successor, if not superior. Enter Aribo. The Camberwell-born-central-player joins a long list of talented Nigerian midfielders, with Leicester City's Wilfred Ndidi and Peter Etebo of Stoke City leading the way. While the Fox is renowned for his ball-winning ability to shield the defence, Etebo operates slightly advanced, utilising his energy in an orthodox box-to-box role. Neither, however, possess offensive verve. A complete midfielder, Aribo is blessed with multi-faceted skillset. He uses the ball exceptionally well, tackles ruthlessly and presses with intensity. He is tall and powerful, with explosiveness to go on marauding runs from midfield. At the last AFCON, the Super Eagles lacked a player who could occasionally make those deadly bursts. Aribo's athleticism and left foot make him adept to the flanks. He was occasionally deployed there by Lee Bowyer at Charlton. Whether through the middle or out wide, he has exhibited predatory eyes for goal. Last season, the 23-year-old buried 10 strikes in 39 appearances. More impressive, though, this came off just 30 shots. Aaron__1872 Rangers paid £300,000 to get Joe Aribo on a 4 year contract... Daylight robbery https:///Gp6mfzKv1A Follow 00:40 AM - 19th Aug 19 0 40 For Steven Gerrard's team this term, he's been a weapon from midfield. Aribo has already registered four goals in just nine starts, including three in the Europa League. His offensive talents are not confined to shooting, however. Aribo is creative and can deliver the killer ball although this trait is yet to surface at Ibrox. The Super Eagles hopeful played a huge part in Charlton build up throughout the season. After developing a good understanding with the likes of Taylor and Grant, he laid on three assists. Aribo is thriving alongside Ryan Jack and Steven Davis in central midfield. The summer recruit has enjoyed the lion share of game time with the others splitting theirs with Andy King, Glen Kamara or Scott Arfield. This may not change any time soon, considering the Nigerian's cutting edge in the final third. Aribo may experience such seamless sail in the Super Eagles. At least on his debut. Alex Iwobi, the team's supposed most-creative playmaker is yet to hit the ground running at Everton and may be asked to start from the bench in September's international friendly against Ukraine. Ndidi, too, could miss the encounter due to an injury. In the long-term, Aribo would become a vital cog in an extremely talented Nigerian side. He is young, gifted and eager to horn his craft. With unattached John Ogu unlikely to be recalled soon, he would be the only left-footed midfielder in Gernot Rohr's team. Aribo's attacking prowess would be crucial, especially with ex-Watford striker Odion Ighalo now retired. Ighalo came to the rescue of his country on numerous occasions, finishing top of the scorer's chart at the last AFCON and even the qualifiers. Just before Rohr finalises the 'Ighalo successor' experiment, Aribo can take advantage. A solid outing against Ukraine is the perfect way to start... 2 Likes |

LOSC: How Victor Osimhen became the new star of Ligue 1 In just three weeks, he has already made a name for himself. Three games, four goals and an honorary status as top scorer in the league, for his discovery of Ligue 1, Victor Osimhen, did not do things by half. Landed early August in Loscafter only seven days of vacation, the Nigerian international will not take long to put the public stadium Pierre Mauroy in the pocket. A double in the season opener against Nantes (2-1), another Wednesday night against Saint-Etienne (3-0) and that's how in just a few weeks, we become the new star of the French championship and we already recole the praises of his teammates. "I did not know him before. But he is a very good person and a very good professional. He's young. but he always wants to improve. I am very happy for him. He has already scored four goals, that's fine. It must continue with this mentality, "advises Jose Fonte, the Lille captain. Nineteen goals last year with Charleroi Spotted in Belgium where he has planted nineteen goals last season under Charleroi, the 20-year-old already validates the recruitment strategy of Luis Campos and his team of scouts. No time to cry the departure of Pepe (Arsenal) and Leao (AC Milan) as the transfer boss took out his hat a new crack. Enthusiastic Christophe Galtier who had however preferred Loïc Rémy at the kickoff against Saint-Etienne. But the Lille striker's early injury allowed Osimhen to come into play after just fifteen minutes. "He came back without asking any questions, he did not make the appearance of being a substitute. He was decisive in goals but also in the game, in terms of intensity. He is only 20 years old but he has a significant margin of progress, "rejoices Lille coach. Bought twelve million euros Purchased twelve million euros Carolos, the player was not a stranger in the world of football. Revelation of the World U17 in 2015 won by Nigeria and where he had finished top scorer of the competition, Osimhen had caught the eye of many European clubs. It was finally in the German club Wolfsburg that he had set his bags in January 2017. But barred in attack, he plays little and ends up being lent last year in Belgium. This is where he really explodes and seduces the Losc. In one month, Osimhen has all the good find of the transfer window. His only problem: staying too long at doping control. Controlled after the match, he did not come to speak. Fortunately, Victor Osimhen is not yet perfect at 20 years old. --20minutes.fr (Translated with Google) 7 Likes |
