First of all, why do you want to venture into the business?
For daily bread or just for fun?
If for daily bread, then sell it and get a car suitable for the hustle, if for fun, then go ahead with the es330.

Good Afternoon guys.

I’m new to this Uber Business. I would be glad if someone puts me through.

I want to know if it would be profitable to use my Lexus Es330 2004 model for uber. I plan to drive it myself.

If yes, how much should I expect to make weekly.

Thanks in anticipation of your responses.

Are there drivers who feel inferior if a rider sat at the back seat? Picked up this girl and she was trying to explain to me that she needed to sit at the back in order to change her dress, needs space to arrange her stuffs... Had to interrupt and jokingly told her that the fare remains the same no matter where a rider sits and as a matter of fact, I prefer make dem sidon for back so that everyone go answer him or her papa name.

I think for most people it is a conscious act, though a bit awkward. In case of a crash, and as a last minute decision to stop the car, which side do you think the driver will ram into an obstacle, his side or the passenger side?

You must have read through the early pages for you to know about ogunvic and you must have read through the latest ones to know he's no longer active here. It's highly unlikely that you will skip just the few pages containing the last days of ogunvic on this thread so come out clean. Are you a CID? SARS? EFCC? By the way, the business is still profitable.. depends on your definition of "profitable"

franksam2009:
5w-30 is designed for winter(weather below -1°c) , in winter time Texas go below -20°c(snow) which will freeze most engine oil, stress engine and cause poor emissions, while here in Lagos the lower hv seen is 20°c, even 50w-70 will flow freely at 20°c grin( the lower it gets the chiller it becomes nd when it gets to -0°c it starts to snow)
The 5w means at freezing point it will get to all engine parts in 5seconds, while the 20w will take 20seconds, but we dont hv such freezing weather here in Nigeria so they all flow fast anytime. So i think 5w should not be used on a taxi/Uber car cause the car is always on a motion and hardly sits for long
The only problem with 20w is that if not changed on time it will cause slug buildup, but for the 5w if it's to be used it Should be an original synthetic(mobile,Castro e.t.c),
Next is oil shortage, this is cause by either bad piston rings(delay in oil change or overheated) or worn out seals(which will eventually occur on all engine as they age), this doesn't necessary mean d engine is dead, as long as it's not smoking, oil stop leak can solve this problem (it swells all seals bck to normal shape).

Den oil filter issue, oil filters are not transparent so even the manufacturers cannot tell what's going on in there, those 10-15k oil filters are marketing strategies, they never last that long, most oil filters hv this inbuilt bypass technology built in them that once they gets clogged up, d oil bypasses and flow directly into d engine which might eventually cause premature wear to the metal bearings,
Even the almighty shining Fram filter was cut open and compared to other high quality filters on YouTube grin, Fram was so bad that its paper breaks when touched lol.
Do ur research be4 u argue bro, most of the cars made in Asia and south America do not hv this 5w written on them, some Don't even write anything on their oil covers, hv seen an Asian made BMW with 10w-30 written on its oil cap.
What have you been reading?
Where did you get this information from?
You people should stop confusing the “W” there for winter. It is “WEIGHT”. The 5w20 simply means the oil's viscosity at cold start is put at 5 for free flow of oil around the engine and the viscosity increases to 20 when engine reaches optimum temperature for added protection. What Dru23 is saying is right (dude has been acting normal for a while now). Some states in the US are hotter than Lagos is or even hotter than the northern part of Nigeria and most likely don't see snow falls.
Car and oil manufacturers put all this things into consideration and put those cars through all manner of test (simulating all kinds of weather and driving conditions) before giving out recommendations.
Have you considered the damage done on those cars with 20W50 oils when you start it in the morning? Or why do you think some cars have tapping sounds that goes away on cold starts? Most engine wears and tears happen in the morning and not necessarily from rigorous driving.
I'm guilty of using 20W50 for my car (cos it's too late to switch back). I drive like a maniac and love using up all the horses in the engine, but on cold start, I don't rev the engine above 2,500 RPM until the engine reaches normal operating temperature.
So bro, if you have a car that is sludge free and not abused, go with your manufacturers specified oil and coolant specs.
Personally if I am on ehailing, I would use 10W40 for older high milage cars and not 20w50. It gives peace of mind on cold start, and perfect soundness when under stress.
Caveat: You are only permitted to use 20W50 for rally cars with wider oil passage. The thicker oil viscosity (50) when hot is perfect for good protection (only for cars with wider oil passage channels).

American foreign spec cars are built differently from European and Asian counterpart... cars that come into the USA market are built according to the USA terrain, whether hot or cold o .. U can't compare Toyota built in South African or European to USA spec. The USA spec will more than likely to have better option and built better. The same goes for Benz ,I would rather Buy Benz Germany than the USA.. Germany Benz are built in Germany, while the USA there are assembled.. Since the are assembled they are prone to a lot if recalls, due to the fact that the parts are imported from different parts of the country... Dana Motors Elantra are not as strong as the USA.brand.. Japanese built Corolla will have a better engine than the American ones..

Your oil augment: most cars in Nigerian are USA spec cars. Some states in the USA are much hotter than Nigeria. If you buy good quality oil whether nay cold start or hot weather start .. The additives in the oil will still protect the engine either way. No matter what bra people should always follow the owners manual when it comes to oil grade.. The manufacturer knows better than us and they are more liable to get sue for any major defects.. The 20w50 oil u mention I have never seen that type of oil in my life .. And I have been selling engine oil for three years. How u nigerians came up with the 20w50 surprises me.. Maybe its European grade oil ,but one thing for sure I have never seen 20w50 in the USA .....

Oil filters...... I mention early about how some filters are design for fleet company and cabs.. Some are tested to last 10k miles and some are tested for 15k miles. Mobil 1 oil filter are good for 15k miles oil change. Fram has their and Stp has their own .. It will say on the filter that they are good for 15k miles .. These filters are spefics and it will say on it .. You just don't buy any fram or Stp and automatically assume they are good for 15k miles without reading it first ..... Going by review online some fram filter and sTP filters don't perform like others .. So I stick to their high end fram and stp .... ........

At bolded is not true. What do they use for some bikes, lawnmowers and 2 strokes engine?
20W50 is everywhere and not just Nigeria. I've even seen someone (can't remember the moniker)advertised a synthetic one here on Nairaland sef.

They usually hang around Hughes Avenue and d mainroads around there usually wearing dirty orange t shirt. But now they have started patrolling in towing vans so u have to b vigilant.

As per blufffing, never follow them to their office no matter the lie they tell u...NEVER follow them. The last one i encountered jumped into d car before i locked it....i drove to d next street, parked and started shouting at him to come down before i call ppl say na thief. The dude got scared as u was about to drive off, came down....na me even give an 200 naira to take bike.

Last last if u get cash...just dash am 500 but never ever follow dem to their office. They will tell u u will just sign...na lie o.

I encountered them on that yaba axis last week Friday. My map lost GPS signal, started misbehaving and I ended up on a one way road. They intercepted me immediately and opened my car door before I had chance to lock it. The guy was talking to me like an angel. He asked if I ve being warned before for taking this one way and I told him no. He said then I don't have anything to be afraid of. I will just have to drive to their office with one of them to check if my no is in there system. If they don't find my no there, then I can go and I happily agreed. My riders( an old man and woman with their teenage daughter in front) begged them from now till eternity to let us go cos they are already very late for their engagement but they might as well be singing, so I agreed and drove off to their office like a good citizen to prove that my no is not in their system, but then an angel in the form of one guy around there who saw the whole thing happen frantically called my attention as i was about to drive off and told me in my native tongue(Igbo). He said "nwokem, isoro ndia ruo office ha, nwanne ha 'rie gi". Meaning "guy if you follow this ppl reach there office them go chop you die" immediately I heard that a tiny gunshot went off inside my head and my brain had to rest to Lagos Factory Settings.

When we got to clinic road the guy asked me to divert to another road that probably leads to their office, I pretended to be deaf and continued on clinic road, he then reached for my car keys, turned off the engine and took my keys. He took out his phone immediately and started calling his ppl. Luckily for me, this happened in the middle of the road and my car was already causing a little traffic. Two police men around the corner rushed down to my car to know what was going on, I explained everything to them but it seemed that I might as well be talking to a barn door. They simply told me to take that car out of the center of the road, park it one side and settle with them(him), that was when I understood that I was strictly on my own. The guy gave me back my key to park my car properly. I then started my car and speed off immediately towards 3MB, the guy saw what was happening and went for my car keys again, this time I was ready for him, I gave him a heavy blow on wrist and it went limp fast, we started struggling for my car key till it broke with the ignition still on and one part of the key still inside the ignition. The guy saw what was happening and started looking for a way to jump out of the fast moving car, I had little mercy for him cause if he jumps at the speed am in, he may die so I slowed down a little and he jumped out immediately. Am sure he must have sustained some minor injuries. My riders who watched the whole thing go down started clapping for me as well other as road users who watched the whole show. I continued to VI, dropped off my riders and drove straight to my mechanic to remove the stuck key. Thankfully I have a spare which I always carry around with me in case of emergencies such as this. The End****

One immediately jump in front of my car with that their chuku chuku I moved faster and he ran away because he thought I was gonna hit him, I now did zig zag from one lane to the other and they gave up. For my mind chaii, na so I for enter am. Wetin person eye dey see no be small

^^^^Funny story

As an uber driver, never joke with your central lock. NEVER

If you approach a gathering of law enforcement thieves, wind up and use your lock, even if your AC isnt on

If you park on the road for whatever reason, use your side mirror, wind up and use the DAMN BUTTON angry
