What ever that ego is, it should not be centred around a female. Such 1diotic egos are borne in the minds of p*$$1 slaves.

"Never hurt a man's ego."

"The male ego is the most fragile thing ... ."

"Never belittle a man, insult him, or make him feel less of a man . . ."

"Be submissive, not seek to be domineering and flaunting your achievements, wealth . . . ."

"Never raise your voice/hand back at/on him."

" 'Cover him up, and don't expose his weaknesses, to men, people.' "

"Learn to understand his mood, what ticks him off and try to avoid doing them."

"Men are like babies, wants to be pampered and learning to tend to their ego, nurturing it is key to unlocking their best selves."

"A man wants to be in the lead, be first, provide, and do all for a woman."

"Something in him seeks to do, to be needed, and not be led . . ."

So many things has been said it, described and told to women to heed, take note of. An undefined, complex, and obscure thing that everybody refers to and pass comment about.

What is it exactly?

Is it (something) in a man? And how does it affect his behavior, in every area of his life? Or It's just a general thing, common to males and females, but the male's has been misrepresented? Changed into what it is not?

Is it psychological, an entirely different 'make' of ego compared to a female's, or it is exclusive to men alone?

If there's something like that, could it be because of culture (societal expectations and gender roles), resulting in a particular mentality: one of taking up responsibilities, desiring to lead, being compelled to sacrifice, etc, for a woman?

What do you think of it?
What do you understand about it?
What's the male ego?

Stop making a fool of yourself. You know your own underlying motives here

Literally, it's very ambiguous when you try to explain male ego but one word for it is POWER and one sentence for it, Full confidence to dominate amongst his peers to seem desired female folks. Think of ego as power struggle between man vs himself, Man vs societal expectations, Man vs peers, Man Vs sex urges, Man vs will power/self control, Man vs resources, Man vs women.

Not all men are cut out for all these as it gets overwhelming, Some just deaden the ego to remain submissive to other men or women. While those with excessive ego ends up fulfilling Abraham Maslow herachy of needs. See my sig down to see that car that is selling.

Your response there ,was totally off point.
The writer neither supported nor criticized the male folks.

A man without an ego is either dead or lost his male organ , if any woman says she can't marry a man with ego she should get a lesbian partner

Pascopele:
In my opinion, "the male ego" determines the degree of power a man perceives and believes himself to possess. If he has a strong ego--he sees himself as strong and powerful. Conversely, if he has a weak ego, he sees himself as weak and powerless.

I have learned that there are Five Basic Needs all males must have continuously "reinforced" in order to feel powerful:

1) the need to be recognized as a special person.
2) the need to "travel light" without feeling a loss of personal freedom.
3) the need for loyalty from others.
4) the need to be close emotionally with satisfying sexual unions.
5) the need to work successfully-- since the male's personal identity is directly tied to the occupation he chooses for himself.

I learned about these basic needs through long years of reading, observation, education, experience, trial and error. And I've noticed many examples of widely spread social problems resulting from weak male egos.

I was enlightened by a very astute and honest male friend who told me during an internet chat one evening that all men measure themselves through the eyes, smiles, and words of the women they know and/or love. He said, "We are what you believe us to be. Men are made by women."

And, interestingly, after learning these simple truths about the male ego's basic needs, it occurred to me that I had these same needs, too. I discovered that "the ego" is gender neutral and directly attributed to one's self-image as a strong or weak person. Males and females are different in many ways biologically--but the same in mind and soul. That old cliché, "What's good for the gander is good for the goose" is very true, in my 66 years of human experience.

@bold...I was just about to say this. A world with 'egoless men' is not better socially. Take out the identity and ego from most men and you would have really passive men who have no sense of purpose in life, are weak and dependent on women for most of their needs. South African men would be an example. Also, America where I live has many of them. America is one of the least gendered nations in the whole world but then the irony here is that it has more successful and industrious young women than men and many young, educated and successful women are single because they can't find an equal or higher male partner for themselves, forcing some to really settle and manage what's available (female CEO dating a mechanic or truck driver for example - at least he has a job and he ain't lazying around in his mom's house, umm I can manage that). Far fewer American men are getting married nowadays compared to the 60s and 70s when America was more gendered and the average male marriage age has gone up from about 25 in the 60s and 70s to mid 30s nowadays. There is an acute shortage of men in general within this age group (due to deaths, some are serving time in prison, etc. and some men see no purpose in pursuing success when it is no longer a societal expectation of men to be successful but is expected of American women instead) and for every eligible successful male in this age group, there are probably 10 or more eligible women/options. These same ladies are now asking, 'where have all the good men gone to?' By 'good men' they refer to alpha, educated and ambition-driven men who they need to take the lead in their lives, forgetting that the male ego/identity is tied to these qualities and if you kill or suppress the male ego, you lose some, if not most, of the basic things that drive men to succeed, further increasing the population of successful but unmarried females.

In other words, the male ego itself isn't bad per se but a healthy male ego, instead, is necessary for a functional society.

Truth be told, men don't really exhibit this much ego around fellow men like themselves, but the moment a woman comes around, the atmosphere and ambience generally changes. That I've noticed. grin

The “ male ego “ derives simply from d fact that men can beat women - basically might is right - every other power men have over women derives from the basic fact that they are physically stronger - so the rules have been written to soothe and empower the male ego while women are forced to subdue and suppress their own ego .

As emotions are to women, what territorial behavior is to wolves, what protective behavior is to a German Shepherd dog, as herding behavior is to a border collie, such is ego to a man.

It can be used for good, or for evil. It can drive achievement, it can also drive envy and wickedness.

It can inspire commitment and responsibility, it can also inspire controlling behavior and abuse.

So it all comes down to how they've been raised and taught?

Absolutely not. The male ego is God's given and unmodifiable. That's the reason why one is advised not to break it or insult it. Someone said that it's a drive to be competitors for female attention, but that's a false assertion (no pun intended whatsoever). Men actually strive to beat and surpass other men, and that's why when they're compared to each other, some tend to burst in flames. Almost all historical wars were fought with the intention of seeing who was stronger. They merely had time for women.

And the quote of men don't cry is actually not part of the male ego. It's just bleeped up to see a guy crying (I guess it's part of it though cheesy).

I done day lose organization for this plenty typing, make I cut am into two.

The male ego is pride, end of story. There is nothing magical about it. Women are told to stay cautious and protect their man’s ego because in a serious relationship a man is actually the chooser not the woman. As such do not get on his bad side because he can easily reject you. Every action you take registers in his mind as a reward vs cost balance. If the costs of keeping you outweigh the rewards he’ll cut you off without a second thought.

From experience even the most rude of females enters into a relationship being humble. They instinctively know keeping a man happy/content keeps her around longer. A female uninterested in a man or inexperienced in relationships crushes a man’s ego without a care. However on meeting a man she desires adjusts her character to suit him.

for humanity to survive in a naturally hostile earth, every society needed to be ready to sacrifice the lives of its men to protect and provide for
women and children. There is necessarily no reason for a man to want to do that so men were bribed and deceived with things like statue, glory, heroes(by dying in a war), status and bravery. Men started measuring their worth with these bribes which served as a source of self esteem derived from making yourself disposable and believing it's for the good of humanity. Without the male ego we'll all still be living in jungles

men are naturally viewed as expendable, the highest thing you can at least do for a man as a woman is to make him feel his sacrifices are appreciated.
