What are you talking about? We have not lost to Togo senior team since 1983.

The only blip was an under 23 team loss in 1996.

At senior level, we either beat them or it ends a draw.

But Ndidi is a defensive or holding midfielder. Nwakali is a Deep lying midfielder while Azubuike okechuckwu plays mostly as a central midfielder & sometimes box-to-box. Different role on the pitch.

Yea but many refuse to understand that. Ndidi is a DM who's job is to shield the back four where focus, pace, agility, agrresiveness, tackles and interceptions comes to play and he does all these very well.

Etebo was never poor as a cm. The role of a cm is divided roughly equally between attack and defence and to dominate the play around the centre of the pitch. He is to pass the ball to the team's attacking midfielders and forwards and may also help attack by making runs into the opposition's penalty area and attempting shots on goal.

I think u should cut him some slack, there will always be residues of that inadequate upbringing technical-wise, your observation are not inaccurate though, he sometimes suffers from a lapse in judgement, perhaps he gets overconfident, if u are pointing to those momentary lapses, I think we can both agree world-class players suffer from it, as far as they dont get lost consistently, but if u are referring to an inadequacy in technically, then I am afraid you will always catch glimpses, if u look close enough, we only hope he can learn to phase out that inadequacy over time, at least to the possible minimum.

I refer to a moment in the game he was almost caught in possession. He got away by being fouled. Truth is if he had looked up much earlier, he could have avoided such. It is not the first time Ndidi have shown such glitch. Don't sound like Ndidi is perfect. He is not.

I am a critic myself but first I am our Players' biggest praise singer and Super fan...

Now I hope you saw Ndidi as a Lone DM today again. Wait.. relax.. I know you will say he is different for Leicester than he is for Nigeria. But just listen first...


Ndidi as a Lone DM in the Super Eagles 3-man midfield of Ndidi-Aribo-Iwobi will get the job done and keep things super simple. No ball hugging, no overelaborate plays... Just mark, intercept, win balls, win duels (ground or aerial), and pick a simple pass to your advanced teammates.

Aribo will concentrate on transiting plays and ball carrying while Iwobi roams as the creative spark of the team centrally.

I have said this before... One of Ndidi or Etebo must be sacrificed and my pick is Etebo to be benched despite his energy levels and super balling skills because as a DM Ndidi is more disciplined and keeps it simple. Ndidi also rivals Etebo's workrate. So Etebo loses out in the DM role.

In the CM role, Aribo transits plays much better than Etebo. This only means that Etebo will have to make do with a place on the bench in the evolution of this Super Eagles team going forward.




Final Note: You will see the best of Ndidi if you play him as a Lone DM having a defined CM and True AM in front of him and not as a DM in a double pivot. This is why the Ndidi we saw at Egypt 2019 was either above average or basically decent/average.

The difference btw Ighalo and Osimhen is like day and night. Ighalo practically waits in the box for ball to come to his feet, while Osimhen make runs thereby create spaces for someone like Iwobi to pass the ball into for him, he also drops to the middle to help build up play, which is one of the hallmarks of the strikers of this era of football. Naah... It's okay man. Ndidi is possibly our most consistent player in Europe. I just wanna see him get better and better. He is already our highest valued player on the market today. He is not far from world class at all, in fact defensively speaking alone... He is already a world class DM for me. I just need to ensure the lad keeps the fire on. We had long sought a successor to Oliseh's throne and in came Ndidi and I long to see him realise the best of his very bright potentials. So don't worry. I know how I balance criticism and praise for our boys (more like men).
