Seniors,
So I just took bus transport from ikeja to the airport to see things myself.

I got there, i saw the dreaded towing van guys trying to throw an iron rod into the car wheels of a chap, n d towing van racing towards him. I didn't wait to see d end.

I met another set challenging a man parked where the airport taxis are, dey almost towed him. Reason: only registered airport taxis are allowed to park where he parked.

I approached one of them n told him I was going to start uber n how does d airport thing work.

He told me uber n taxify are banned from working in the airport bla bla bla n dey are d only ones authorised to do biz carry riders n that anyone DT picks a rider will b towed

I took whatever he said with a pinch of salt.

So seniors,
How do you drop a rider @ d airport without infringement of rules or play to the towing guys hand.

Are you to drop the rider in the car park or what?

Basically, I need a walk- through of the process like the Dos n Don't @ d airport.

Thanks.

At the airport, no one will tow you for dropping a rider at departure, just make sure you don't exceed the allowed time (3 mins). You'll also make all your mirrors your best friends, any suspicious movement by someone holding a clamp zoom off with rider lol

For pick ups, to be 100% safe you'll have to wait for rider at the car park. Most riders will beg you to drive out it's up to you if you wanna take the risk. Those airport guys too can request you and set you up so your alankan will have to fi oju so ori (you'll have to always stay alert, if your instincts tell you to move don't ask why. Good luck

All sympathy and all...
No one wishes for these things but we must also be cautious..
From his explanation I'd hold him responsible as well, he was driving too fast and too close... Imagine the kind of impact that her face made with a well padded chair for that kind of damage, you can guess what it'll take.
Yesterday I picked a lady at VI to the mainland, immediately I turned to face akin adesola to link Alfred rewane she screamed "where are you going, I'm not taking 3rd mainland bridge". I was startled, then calmly explained to her that that way would serve us best... She reluctantly agreed after impressing it on me that I won't speed on tge bridge. Earlier in the month she was in an uber that nearly went over the bridge, it was raining, driver was speeding... Said she told him 3 times to slow down but bros no gree. He was trying to overtake and he lost control, hit the embankment...babe was traumatized, say she now has anxiety issues, adviced her to go for counselling
That's an exceptional rider. I always get terrible riders. Makes me wonder if it's a societal curse, like seriously, Nigerians are this way? Doing 100 on third mainland bridge and a rider was yelling that "you are not speeding, look at other cars passing" I marveled and was speechless. This had happened not once or twice. I have also been in situations in traffic jams where these riders will be screaming for you not to allow another car come in front of you. I always wonder and fear for this country where majority have a really crude and obscure mentality. What example are these supposed parents setting for their kids? I always wonder. Doing Uber has been the first time I'm serving the public to a large extent outside of my 9-5 job and it has been a shocker, the mentality out there.

Quite right sir... I picked a rider sometime ago. The lady was just practically driving with me especially on the third mainland.

Lady: Bros you're speeding
Me: Sorry ma, its just 80
Lady: Will 40 not take us to my destination?
Me: Yes of course. But on the 3MB, 40 isn't really advisable but no wahala ma.
Lady: I'm advising you to drive with 40. Because if you meet traffic here, you will not remember 40 wasn't advisable right?

I just laugh and we had good conversation till she change destination to her husband's office. Man was a top personnel with DSS. She told me to wait till she's thru and even asked me to use the Office restaurant on her husband's name.

Since that day I don't go above 70. No matter how a rider urges me! Most riders dread the 3MB especially at night. Some actually close their eyes while some will bury their heads not to look at the water. The day my tyre burst untop that bridge na I draw closer to God physically. cheesy

Let's just be careful and observant. Small small we'll get it right.

40 ke grin it is well

What a September to remember, 18600 naira bonus. Last trip was kind of bitter-sweet... I was about to set destination on Awolowo rd, when a request beep, called rider and her destination is Lekki, while I'm looking for Ogba, had to cancel, while she called d hell off my phone (Guess I did her wrong). Not up to 5 mins, request entered and rider is going to opebi, 4 buildings to pick up point, I realize one of my tyre is completely fleet (In my mind, dis girl wicked o). I got to rider and tell em, I don't think I can make this trip for dis reason, he ask if I can change it? Sharply, I changed the tyre and we proceed. The guy complained about Nigeria all through the trip and its obvious, he have seen the other side of life. Las las rider tip extra 5h. October please b nice.

nothing spectacular about the increase, the real increase is around 3.5% of ur earnings after deductions.

So for every #1,000 , you get around #30-35 on top

Bolt and policy flip flops are like 5n6.
Why not start first with the 10% price increase and study the market trend for 3 months, if you get the expected result you can now decide whether or not to implement the 5% commission increase.
All i see is muddled water!

I have read some expert opinion and they have adjudge you as guilty based on their analysis of the nature of damage to your car.
As an e-hailing driver you have only one paramount goal "getting riders safely to their destination", any activity that encourages towards the accomplishment of that goal should be pursued.
Defensive driving is expected to be one of the strongest point of e-hailing drivers.
In short have a post it note on your dashboard with the words "SAFETY, SAFETY SAFETY".
We thank God that no life was lost, as we are now in the ember month, let us all be more extra vigilant.

NEVER EVER park on those two zebra crossings at MM2, even if there's traffic and that's the only free slot, it's free for a reason... if they see you they'll come for you...
NEVER EVER stop anywhere along airport road. MMIA, MM2 or GAT, NEVER.
NEVER EVER wait for your rider at the pick up point, if rider isn't out when you get there, rollout and keep rolling till you confirm the rider is out and ready to go, MMIA, MM2 or GAT.
At MMIA Only pick up at arrival pickup point, do not pick up at departure o... You'll be fine.

Only pick up riders at the designated arrival pickup points and make it fast, you'll be fine.
OR
Rider meets you at the car car park, quite unnecessary though, I've never picked up at the car park.

Sometime last year, I got a request one night from MMIA, was surprised cos I wasn't within the airport premises I was driving along airport near Beesam.
Called rider in my very English speaking font...
Nice sounding chic says meet me at departure, I say departure, not arrival?
She says yes
I say could you please come to arrival pickup, we are not allowed to pick riders at departure.
She says come, you can pick me at departure
I say nahh, I can't do that
She says I said you can, you don't have a problem
I said are you sure
Babe said, do I sound like I'm not sure?
This bit scattered my head, I thought oh Ogun protect me but I must see this babe... Anything wey wan happen make e happen...I'm a sucker for a confident woman wink
Na so I blow reach there, my eyes are darting about like a bush rat's...
Called here again, she says drive up, you'll see me standing with a policeman
I said ok, but I no end call o, left it on so I can hear any background chatter, nothing.
Rolled up and picked her... Cool chic, turns out she be uber staff, we chatted all the way to ogudu, that day I learned that uber was in talks with Edo state. Tipped 1k at the end of the ride, card trip.

Basically follow the rules and you'll be fine, 98% of riders won't want to meet you at the car park, but it's not a problem. Follow the rules

Bolt charges a minimum of 500 once you start the trip, uber's is 400. Do not start a trip so that you can cancel, it's deemed as fraudulent practice. Apart from that if its a card trip, riders may report you or if its uber, you may be flagged for fraud.
If its a cash trip you will be charged commission on that fare even though you didn't get paid.
Next time, if its bolt, swipe arrived, wait 5 mins and then cancel with client did not show.
Do the same for uber if the 5 minute countdown has expired, you may charge a cancellation fee if you like.

Don't park on the road while waiting for rider, dia is always a car park space in almost every company, if the place is filled up, just use ur discretion, it's not a must to pick all rider.
