The renting issue is just a case of demand and supply. Due to massive economic progress and high taxation thus leading to higher cost of living, the two cities of both Accra metropolis and Tema Metropolis with about 6 million population all in the Greater Accra Region has now virtually become a city for the super rich thus the middle income have been pushed to live in mostly the outskirts of these cities and business districts. Real estate is an economy on its own here.People build large apartments for mostly rich, expatriates, tourists and students and workers hostels. If you're a middle income, better rent outside Accra and Tema and even with that, foreigners especially Nigerians have populated these outskirt towns such as Kasoa,Pokuasi,Amasaman upwards,Dodowa,Madina,Adenta,Afienna, etc. These places have now been hugely developing into another massive real estate and business towns thus pushing the middle income outside of Greater Accra. Now according to the Rent Control Authority and our government,Ghana's economy has been strongly capitalized with little to no interference from Government agencies. They simply allow the forces of demand and supply to lead in getting accommodation and other private stuffs. So foreign investors see here as a safe haven thus Ghana attracting more foreign direct investments than even Nigeria. They build everything here they can dream of in their numbers with chains of hotels, apartments, restaurants, clubs, international schools including several universities, malls, factories, office complex, etc everywhere in the country and they're allowed to pay whatever they want to their workers with a set minimum wage by the state, charge whatever amount they feel like and still enjoy massive patronage. So it's a capitalist jungle here with basically no rules. So whenever you hear that Ghana is booming, know that it's these factors including multiplying of tourist numbers, businesses and more foreigners relocating to Ghana. It makes the the country and cities very expensive. Accra alone has over 10 shopping malls with several 5 star hotels and 5 star luxurious massive estate towns and mini cities. 2 Likes |

TayserMahri:This might be the case as some landlord suggest. my own distance uncle ( now octogenarian) do collect monthly payment , he prefer it to yearly payment becuse he doesn't work and consider it as salary. |

TayserMahri: The Alterans were an extraterrestrial species from the planet of Celestis in the Alteran Home Galaxy that evolved millions of years ago. Because of a philosophical disagreement, they would eventually split into two factions: the Alterans, known as the Ancients/Lanteans, who sought scientific advancement, and the fervently religious Ori. The Ancients fled to the Milky Way galaxy, which they called Avalon, while the Ori remained in their home galaxy. Both groups ultimately ascended to energy form, leaving behind the traces of their respective empires. I know ya gonna call me an Ori but am not |

vaxx2: Kadogo economy is an economy that allows even the poorest to afford to purchase what they need by dividing sellable items to the smallest quantity. An example is selling someone a spoonful of sugar if thats only what he can afford. 1 Like 1 Share |

vaxx2: The truth vaxx...its a matter of cartels squeezing the little money common folks got...even in rich countries stuff like ths don't happen... A good example would be New york City.. "Most landlords in New York City require your gross annual income (before taxes) be 40 times your monthly rent. So, for example, if you want to rent a studio for $1,500 a month, you must prove that you make at least $60,000 a year. Using this equation, you can afford to pay $1,125 in rent every month.
