Unbiased1: Obi is not the standard rather a stepping stone. Face the topic ,hommie. Stop being emotional over a sincere observation...how can you grow if you don't take constructive criticism? Bottom line, Obiano can do better with those ugly fences and poor paint job...its not that expensive to put up a befitting fence there. Anything worth doing..... 1 Like |

Irish woman who had read Chinua Achebe’s book translates novel to Irish language Author: Sola Bodunrin UPDATED: 5 HOURS AGO VIEWS: 566 Category: Local news, Latest World News - An Irish woman Irene Duffy Lynch who had read Chinua Achebe's book, Things Fall Apart, many times wants to translate the novel to her language - Achebe derives title of his world-famous novel from a poem written by Irish poet WB Yeats' The Second Coming - The theme of Things Fall Apart is quite similar to that of Yeat's The Second Coming When late African literary giant, Nigerian novelist Chinua Achebe wrote his world-famous book, Things Fall Apart, he claimed was inspired by the poem of late Irish poet, WB Yeats, The Second Coming. Achebe derived the title of Things Fall Apart from the third line of William Butler Yeats’ poem, The Second Coming. “Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold; Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world ...” While Achebe is writing about the arrival of British colonialism and accompanying Christian missions causing chaos in Africa as they come into conflict with traditional Igbo culture and religion, Yeats writes against the cultural as well as political imperialism of the English. Yeats poem and Achebe’s novel both draw attention to the parallels between the English oppression of Ireland and its oppression of Igbos in Nigeria. According to veteran Nollywood actor who is now based in Dublin, Deji Adenuga, via his Facebook page noted that Irish woman, Irene Duffy Lynch, who has been to Nigerian fell in love with Achebe’s Things Fall Apart so much that she was said to have read it over and over and again. Lynch was so impressed with Achebe’s book that she fell in love with it and got inspired to translate Things Fall Apart to Irish language. The Irish woman hopes to bring Achebe’s Things Fall Apart into schools in Ireland for the enjoyment of the people of Ireland and the Irish people all over the world. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.legit.ng/amp/1264633-things-fall-apart-irene-duffy-lynch-translate-chinua-achebes-irish-language.html 3 Likes

ACTDA SEALED OFF DISTRESSED STRUCTURE AT UNZIK JUNCTION, AWKA With Anambra State Government proactiveness in identifying distressed structures, marking them and making the owners to either take them down or perform needed repairs, the Awka Capital Territory Development Authority, ACTDA, a regulatory body, has been keeping up with its functions and responsibilities. Yesterday, the very active MD/CEO of the agency, Ven. Barr. Amaechi Okwuosa, led his team for an on-the-spot assessment of a distressed building at UNIZIK Junction, facing potential collapse and posing as a threat to life. Speaking to journalists after assessing the building and meeting with some of the occupants, Ven. Barr Okwuosa said, “so many structure here in Awka are quite in a precarious situation”. “It is very unfortunate people are still going into the building and still renting. There are so many cracks inside the building. Part of the staircase are already giving up and it is quite necessary that we seal off this structure immediately because it is an accident waiting to happen”. Okwuosa continued, “As we entered the building we noticed it was overcrowded and there were so many illegal partitions with brick walls that added weight to the foundation.” Affirming that the building will be sealed, the MD/CEO advised the rest of House Owners and Landlords to get building approvals because ACTDA won’t compromise its standard. ” I want to use this opportunity to tell all other house owners, they must look after their buildings. And if they don’t have building approval, it is not late, they can still come to us to help them make good any bad situation” he enthused. “And if they do the needful, many lives will be saved. We have a high spate of building collapse and now we’ve gone further into the society, especially within the Awka Capital Territory, to make sure the lives of people are safe”. When asked about the fate of the occupants, Barr Okwuosa said, “once we seal it off, nobody will go in and if they do, they will be prosecuted”. Ven Barr. Amaechi Okwuosa promised that the agency, with other sister agencies will keep working towards reducing such occurrences to the barest minimum. Emmanuel Aniagoh ACTDA, Awka 5 Likes
