PRESS RELEASE TROOPS NEUTRALIZE NOTORIOUS BANDITS' LEADER AKA EMIR AND 59 OTHERS, Overran Bandits' Camps, Capture Arms & Ammunition, Recover Over 400 cows In continuation of the on-going intensive clearance operations against armed bandits in Zamfara state, troops of Operation HADARIN DAJI (OPHD) have continued to record tremendous successes against the criminal elements/unrepentant bandits. Recall that on 3rd of October 2019, troops deployed at SUNKE in ANKA Local Government Area, troops came under unprovoked attack by armed bandits despite the ongoing peace process in the State. However, the gallant troops successfully repelled the attack, neutralized 19 bandits in the process. Unfortunately, 4 soldiers lost their lives during the encounter. As a result of the encounter, troops further commenced aggressive clearance operations nicknamed OP MUSHARE on the 6th of October 2019, with a view to apprehending the recalcitrant bandits. Consequently, between 6th and 7th of October 2019, within BAWA DAJI general area, 3 heavily fortified camps at GUBARAWA, BAWA DAJI and BAWA DAJI Forest were destroyed when the troops overpowered the bandits, overrun the 3 camps and neutralized 39 bandits, (including the notorious bandits' leader known as “Emir”) and many bandits were obviously wounded. The following items were recovered from the bandits/camps: a.3 x AK 47 rifles b.421 x 7.62mm (special) ammunition c.30 x PKT rifle rounds d.10 x magazines e.5 x Motorcycles f.177 x Cows g.7 x handsets h.2 x handset batteries i.Substance suspected to be Cannabis Sativa j. Charms Four soldiers were wounded during the operation. Similarly, in continuation with the offensive against the bandits, clearance operations were also extended to the general area of KURUWA, KAWARA, KALAHE and ZANGO villages in BAKURA Local Government Area where troops encountered a large number of marauders at their camp in ZANGO village on 8 October 2019. The determined troops overwhelmed the armed bandits with a high volume of fire, neutralized 19 of the criminals and recovered 1 motorcycle. Additionally, troops also arrested a suspected bandit Abubakar Umar along road LAMBA - DAMRI axis with the sum of 400,000 Naira presumably for purchase of bandits logistics supplies. The suspect will be handed over to the civil police for further investigation/necessary action. Additionally, on the 8th of October 2019, troops on fighting patrol in BUKKUYUM general area, intercepted some logistics items enroute to bandits' camps. The items include: a.13 x Jerry cans of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) b.8 x Litres of engine oil c.4 x Motorcycle tyre tubes Furthermore, on the 9th of October 2019, troops deployed in ANKA general area, based on intelligence intercepted and arrested suspected bandits' logistics suppliers named LAWALI UMAR AND JAMILU LIMAN around KUTURU village in ANKA Local Government Area of the State purchasing some logistics items for onward movement to the bandits' camps. Consequently, the troops recovered the under listed items: a.4 x Jerry cans of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) b.1 x Carton of Malt c.3 x Packets of soft drinks d.1 x packet of Nutri milk In a related development, based on intelligence indicating that armed bandits were seen crossing with some rustled cows at DAKI TAKWAS in ANKA Local Government Area, OPHD troops deployed in the general area immediately ambushed the criminals along road ANKA-DAKI TAKWAS. The criminals fled and abandoned the rustled cows in the area. Troops pursued the fleeing criminals and successfully neutralized 20 of them and recovered the following items: a.2 x Motorcycles b.6 x magazines c.160 x rounds of 7.62mm (NATO) ammunition and many links d.60 x rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition e.296 cows Presently, troops have dominated the general area with aggressive patrols, snap checkpoints and ambushes amongst other line of operations to deny the criminals freedom of action. This onslaught against armed banditry and all other criminal activities will continue until banditry is effectively combated. Troops will continue to remain highly committed and professional in carrying out assigned tasks in line with the extant Rules of Engagement and Code of Conduct. Accordingly, the Force Commander OPHD and Acting General Officer Commanding 8 Division, Nigerian Army, Brigadier-General Aminu Bande commended the troops for their commitment and reassured the good people of Zamfara and other neighboring states of the determination of the Army and other security agencies to secure lives and properties. He further solicits for the support of the public to continue to support the on-going campaign against armed banditry by providing timely and credible information to OPHD troops and other security agencies to ensure prompt and decive action. The FC also used the opportunity to warn all recalcitrant bandits and their cohorts to lay down their arms and embrace the on-going peace process of the Zamfara State Government or face full military action. I do not think there is any need for the Nigeria Army to burn cars captured from ISWAP. They should be towed back to the Military barracks for servicing. What do you all think about this? 4 Likes |

SamuelAnyawu:No bad idea... I think one of many reasons military over the world detroy captured equipment is to secure any breach in its security, e.g eqauipment captured could be rigged with undetectable tracking devices, infectious agent, and even in highly technological war, with hidden explosives set to blow by a remote trigger... Also it doesnt speak good of a military that inducts and uses the recovered cache. 4 Likes |

rka2: Nigeria is NOT going to buy SU 57. What are security planners are aiming for is American F16s. They will make a play for Russian jets and wait. They know there is an amateurish transactional guy in the White House who thinks himself 'smart'. He will hear at some briefing that Russians are selling SU 57 to Nigeria and will just blurt out against all complicated strategic considerations why the US are not competing and pow F16Vs are coming Naijas way |

Jimi24: It is a possibility or the Ambassador meant SU-30 or 35. Unless he is ex military, most of these representatives are quite ignorant of military matters. What will most probably happen is, we will keep on hoping and waiting, most likely in vain. |

F16 for where? shoot, na F22 he go even dash us lol. All the US has to do is threaten to ruin our economy, to think we have such influence with the US, shoot, we should, sadly, but we don't. Nigeria won't go against US sanctions on Russia if US get involved, our leaders don't have balls, so to speak, or should i say backbone. Don't wait, and there is nothing strategic in how we procure military hardware, if anything it's embarrassing . Jimi24: 1 Like |

I'm sure the ambassador was talking about either SU30 or he was supposed to say MIG jet.. Cos last year the former defense minister said Nigeria is interested in the MIG jet(though he didn't specify but we all know it may be 29) And YAK 130... So it may be MI29.... But just imagine the SU57 talk it's true Abeeg make una nor attack me o |

kikuyu2: Frankly speaking I always liked the bird especially the F version, no fuss no muss Other than their organic firepower capability One of their main utility lies in their ability to act as forward fire controllers for indirect line of sight weapons like mortar , artillery , rockets etc. Allows to lay down accurate firepower on a massive scale from the first round itself at standoff distances. Enables the rear guard support troops to break up enemy assault through accurate mortar , artillery , rocket barrage etc and relieves the pressure off the forward troops in direct contact with the hostiles. This is a classic example of air ground combined arms synergy for max effect. 7 Likes

WARTHUNDER:Sir, even 50km/h is still too fast to shoot reasonably (swivel arc-arc), I have seen too many boko videos. For APC/LAV in an FOB to be penetrated just shows our FOB set up is poor. Free public show April 2019, it was fun that day in Kaduna, army weapons display. I dont know if same pics are on other pages here. Methinks arguments on Army budget is simple case. Low funds VS Enough funds. Lets agree to disagree like someone said. Thinking with published data from FGovt. Min. Budg & Nat. Pln budget office and Army HQ. NA lost golden chance oil boom 2001 till 2013 when clever armies of OPEC nations masterminded their own full scale army modernization master plans, but Nigerian army wasted its own bonanza, army alone capital procurement budget incd. side grants hit $5 billion total. Next phase 2014 till 2019 another MBNP $2 billion capital budget paid army alone. NA didnt shop righitht with $7 billion 2001 till 2019, Fed. & Legist. will now need real convincing to dish out heavy again, fears wrong shopping. For 2019 Army COAS asked FGovt. for capital procurement budget $250 million but Fed. MBNP gave $120 million. MBNP blames scanty unclear purpose because Army don't fully detail whats needed to fully finally finish job in N.E, it's asking for same things MBNP paid NAF to buy, not so convincing in these scarce dollar days. Please can anybody help them plead their case well? Help NA if you have ideas. 1 Share

Nigeria Has Received 6 Russian Mi-35M Helicopters, Expects 6 Remaining - Ambassador Nigeria seeks ensuring mutually beneficial defense cooperation, the official emphasized. "We try to work within the framework of the system, so that Russia does not lose anything, but so that Nigeria also does not lose. Deliveries schedule will be discussed. Our wish list is quite long. We continue to discuss these issues with Russia. But I want to emphasize that without Russian help, without Russian technology, the fight against terrorists in my country will face very big challenges. We are interested in the fact that this equipment was purchased and delivered on time," Ugbah explained. Nigeria discusses with Russia the possibility to purchase its Su-57 fighters and is also interested in Russian helicopters, tanks and intelligence equipment, Steve Davies Ugbah said........................ Ugbah expects Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Nigerian counterpart, Muhammadu Buhari, who will head his country's delegation, to hold a meeting on the sidelines of the event, which Russia's resort city of Sochi will host from 23-24 October. WARTHUNDER:The military arms should have dedicated secretaries that will liaise with MBNP and the legislature on such matters. Infact, the army should be ready to go in front of the National Assembly to paint a dire picture of the war, subtly hint at the rise of external threats and outline a feasible comprehensive wishlist, that is how militaries get funding in democratic settings. A situation where we have Generals clamoring for helicopters to be parked beside trenches(trenches!,we are still digging trenches at this stage), it clearly shows that someone somewhere is clueless. 4 Likes 1 Share |

https://news.yahoo.com/pakistans-next-war-india-involve-100000786.html The 2019 India-Pakistan border skirmish resulted in major shake-ups within the Indian Air Force (IAF). The most accepted narrative, that of a loss of an IAF MiG-21 Bison to no losses of the Pakistan Air Force bodes poorly for the IAF. But interestingly, according to a July interview, the skirmish marked one of the first “hot” use of Pakistan’s new Chinese JF-17 “Thunder” fighters. The JF-17 is a relatively new single-engine fighter, meant to compete against other light fighters like the F-16, Gripen, and MiG-29 for export contracts. As the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) is the only large user, most solid information about the aircraft is from Chinese marketing documents. But the July interview gives one pilot’s opinion on how the JF-17 stacks up against most common adversaries, from Sukhois to F-16s. The extent of the JF-17’s “hot” usage following the border skirmish was in patrols near the border. In some incidents, the pilot said that during these patrols, he was getting radar lock-on Su-30MKIs at ranges in excess of 100 kilometers. However, this doesn’t mean that a JF-17 could kill with a missile at that range. The JF-17’s primary beyond-visual-range (BVR) armament is the PL-12 missile, which is still undergoing integration (as of February 2019). During the actual border air skirmish, PAF F-16s lobbed AIM-120C-5 AMRAAM missiles at similar ranges, which forced IAF aircraft to go defensive to dodge the missiles, but no kills were scored. As the PL-12 is said to have a similar range to the AMRAAM, it’s likely that its kinematic performance at range is similar, and it too wouldn’t be able to score a kill. But if the JF-17 allows the pilot to “lob” a missile at planes at such ranges, it still might be a step ahead of the IAF’s Su-30MKIs. According to an NDTV report, the Russian R-77 missiles cannot engage targets past 80 km |

SamuelAnyawu: So sad, however, it won’t be long before Amaq release evidence, they’ve been unusually quiet, I’ve been monitoring their tactics lately, seems like they are up to something big, I wouldn’t just say, but whenever ISWAP goes quiet this long, they are up to something. With Syaa having our full undivided attention, I think those B*stards are up to something. |

[b] Revealed: Troops uncover France-based NGO linked to Boko Haram, kill terrorists with ID card A France-based non-governmental organisation, Première Urgence Internationale, working alongside Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists has been uncovered by Nigerian troops. With headquarters in Asnieres-sur-Seine on the suburbs of Paris, Première prides itself as an “international NGO which helps civilians who are marginalised or excluded as a result of natural disasters, war and economic collapse.” The self-acclaimed humanitarian group first gained access to Nigeria in 2016, setting up activities in various complementary domains in order to respond to the vulnerable populations’ needs in the north-east. However, a recent revelation by the gallant troops has suggested otherwise as the group has only succeeded in fuelling insurgency in the region. Like many other foreign NGOs, instead of providing aid to the returning inhabitants following massive clearout by the resilient troops on the frontline, Première acted as a rehab centre for the utterly wounded and defeated fighters. A Boko Haram terrorist, with an identification card belonging to Première, was on Sunday night killed by the troops in Gubio, Borno State. Adam Idris Kubo, as displayed on his ID, works with the French NGO as a Pharmacist. This has somewhat vindicated the Nigerian Army’s decision to shut down two foreign groups – Action Against Hunger and Mercy Corps and justified the call by some local civil society organisations to ban these international NGOs.
