I swear sometimes S.E brothers on the front page couldn't even use it wisely.
While AFONJAS are using every little opportunity they see on front page to damage our image, our brothers are there slacking.. Some of my S. E brothers no wise and are blind.
It's sad
I tell you bro... I know those fools very well, nothing less than 10 igbo damaging comments will be on the front page if it were an igbo victim and the mods will do nothing. I just commented on the frontpage of the afonja child abuse news and the mod was so swift to remove the comments.

the problem with my people is that they have been deceived by fruadlent one nigeria in their minds.
We are too casual and don't take things serious until it gets out of hand.

I remember early this year or late last year I told them here to be wise that afonjas are using every opportunity to tarnish us.
Do u know what one of ur foolish brothers replied me that I'm talking rubbish , that can never happen.
But now it has started happening ,
did u see that topic of that boy who was trying to go Pakistan? He was denied oh despite having all the requirements.
We need to wake up oh.
In the next too years it's going to be worst because these afonja people are bent on destroyig our image

They are bent on destroying our image cause they know if we compete with them on a fair ground they would loose woefully. They know what we capable of, hence the jealousy and hatred.
Nairaland is not a fair ground, comment against them on the front page and watch how swift their mods will remove the comments but will hardly do the same if it were against igbos

If you ban ownership of firearms guess what? Criminals don't obey laws, meaning the only people with firearms are criminals and the government. Which brings us to a situation like Nigeria where you can be robbed at your home or in your car and there's no defense. Banning firearms will never work but tougher laws and more monitoring is the key. Everyone that owns a firearm should undergo yearly renewal where there mental and physical health is tested, every firearm sold should be equipped with a remote disarm mechanism that the FBI can shut down at any time using the serial number or the chip ID. Any child that obtains a firearm left around by a parent or another adult and commits a crime with it should be jailed for 10 years and above. There are more measures that can be put in place but banning guns outright is a suicidial decision in America right now.

You made some valid points here, espe ually tjat smart gun point, but let me ask you very simple questions:
- What is RIGHT for any society, citizen owning guns or not?
- how can they arrive at some sort of peace, unless every individual is restricted from.having guns?
- yes there will always be criminal elements with guns if/when owning guns is outlawed, do you think the situation (like in Europe or Australia) would be worst than what's happening in the US today?
Don't you even see the link between mass shooting and the gun laws? I mean where else in the world do you even hear almost monthly of mass shooting?
- Why would anyone in the US need a gun?
- if for protection then why do they need a police force then (whose job is it to protect and serve)?!
- most importantly, why would anyone in the US need any ASSAULT RIFLE (AR15/M16 type) ?
- are you saying that the best way for people to protect themselves (against criminals who may have guns) is to let common deluded crazy deranged people possibly have guns too.....? Then how do you solve the issue at hand?

I believe the solution to criminals having guns in the US is MORE policing, MORE security on the streets, Armed guards in specific places to ensure that these criminal elements are brought to book. It won't be an easy job but in a few decades, the benefits will be evident... you can't possibly reduce gun deaths in the US unless owning guns is banned completely.

You can't leave a confused nation like Nigeria where every kind of nuisance is allowed and go to the US and constitute nuisance to a sane society.

The thing you have to realize about Americans is that they value they privacy, freedom and control more than anything. You are talking about more policing, military intervention and so on...lol. These are the types of things that makes most of them act crazy and paranoid. Most of them already despise the government and police, most of them already belief that the government is out to kill them, so when you now add all the crazy stuff you mentioned, what you'll get is a full war. See the difference between Americans and Nigerians is that many Americans are willing to DIE for little things. The more you make something a taboo to them, the more they want it....Drugs, weed, etc. Let's also give you an example to debunk your theory, do you know the state with the highest amount of gun laws and policing in the USA? California, New York, Illinois. Do you know the states with the highest gun related deaths? California, Illinois, Texas. This shows that laws and taking away people's guns would only encourage more criminals to be bold and the average citizen to be defenseless. You talk about police as if they can respond to home invasions immediately, it still takes them 15 minutes or more to arrive and by then what's done is done.....the only thing I can agree with is a ban on assault weapons but ordinary handguns, that is just the American way!

America’s obsession with guns is basically the same issue with religion, people locked into a document that was written over a hundred years ago and is not applicable today. The second amendment has absolutely no purpose or point in today’s America, but they keep referencing it like it is some holy grail and not an irrelevant codil

The thing you have to realize about Americans is that they value they privacy, freedom and control more than anything. You are talking about more policing, military intervention and so on...lol.

A person's freedom and liberty shouldn't infringe on the freedom and liberty of others. Sadly, today it is very common to have deluded deranged people thinking that any of their sick thought process is right, and they have the right to kill to attain it.
So you won't be able to dismiss a child from school any longer, if not he will come back to kill every other students out of anger OR you can't fire anyone at work because that insane bastard will come back and shoot everyone working there. I won't think of the racist individual who thinks it's ok to shoot any colored person in the back, just because his racist self feels like it.

These are the types of things that makes most of them act crazy and paranoid. Most of them already despise the government and police, most of them already belief that the government is out to kill them, so when you now add all the crazy stuff you mentioned, what you'll get is a full war.

I am under the impression that the war is already on bro.... People do indeed die by the boatload DAILY, from gun violence.

See the difference between Americans and Nigerians is that many Americans are willing to DIE for little things.

Maybe the above is the reason why so many are killing innocent people at the drop of a hat.
You Burger takes too long to be serve, you attack the cashier, your neighbors plays too loud music, you shoot him etc...
Something needs to be done, that ain't right!

The more you make something a taboo to them, the more they want it....Drugs, weed, etc.

Weed us indeed legal in countless states and the abuse is on the rise...it doesn't stop people from getting high...it simply makes it better policed.... but I am certain that weed smoking never hurt a yoke but the dumbaass smoking.

This is not such a simple black and white issue... but the fact that remains that unless guns andres outlawed, you cant possibly think of eradicating gun violence. So long as common deranged mad people can own a gun, the problem.will persist.

Now let me give you an example:
In the US, neo nazi acists can gladly parade in the streets while insulting and abusing colored people. That's their constitutional right.
In the US, any sect who believes that doomsday is approaching can suddenly decide it is time to protect their communities against foreigners This same set of people can buy guns and assault rifle by the boatload. Why would both above case need the police if they think they can just go home and pick up their guns to make THEIR own sick deranged laws?

You talk about police as if they can respond to home invasions immediately, it still takes them 15 minutes or more to arrive and by then what's done is done.....the only thing I can agree with is a ban on assault weapons but ordinary handguns, that is just the American way!
Any firearm is a weapon of mass destruction... and only investing money in more police can solve the issue while civilians are disarmed and protected by their police force. That's what needed now until all guns are removed from the hand of common people. By then you would not need that much police any longer
