If you ban ownership of firearms guess what? Criminals don't obey laws, meaning the only people with firearms are criminals and the government. The thing you have to realize about Americans is that they value they privacy, freedom and control more than anything. You are talking about more policing, military intervention and so on...lol. These are the types of things that makes most of them act crazy and paranoid. Most of them already despise the government and police, most of them already belief that the government is out to kill them, so when you now add all the crazy stuff you mentioned, what you'll get is a full war.
