i think its the demand that makes Nigerians go into Nursing or IT or are they paid better than Engineers?? Is there no demand for Engineers??

Engineers are in demand too but not as much as nurse. I can't comment on the level of difficulty of a nursing degree but I know a getting an Engineering degree is not a walk in the park. Very demanding as per work load and maths intensive.

All around the world, nurses are in more demand that Engineers. As per Engineers pay, that will highly depend on employer and industry. An Engineer employed in an oil company would make more than one employed in a small EPC firm.

Coupled with overtime, a nurse can make alot of money just after grad straight out of school. An engineer's salary would usually rise slowly atleast till he/she becomes a professional engineer.

I believe people should just follow their dreams anf heart desires. I would never do be able to fit into a medical line because I dislike anything Biology. I enjoy maths, so I found myself in Engineering. As per occupation, nothing beats earning a good wage from what you love doing.

Correct. Nurses are in demand. And it will even get better, due to the aging population. In general, Engineers are in demand as well. Depending on specific engineering area of course. On salary/rate basis alone, IT software developers/engineers earn higher than nurses. However, nurses can work overtime, which will certainly increase their take home pay.

Thanks a lot, reading you and Bossman comments just put smile on my face, i asked based on your last comment, making good wage from what you love is very important considering the cost of Education in USA... Personally i can never do Nursing, But seems everyone was just saying go into Nursing if you immigrate, it was getting me confused because i want to continue in my Engineering field but people just discourage me that since my First degree is in Nigeria it will affect me even if i get my Masters in the US but i am willing to take that risk now.. I will also start to put small eyes in IT from now on and maybe get 1 or 2 certifications as a second choice here in Nigeria first(Bossman which certifications/software do you suggest, i don't know anything about IT oo, Engineers na AutoCAD, Solidworks, ANSYS, PDMS etc we sabi oo, lol) for when i eventually move

Do not let anyone discourage you. If you have a Nigerian degree coupled with a US masters, you are good to go.
I have lost count of friends doing well in Engineering careers in the states with their first degree from OAU and Unilag plus a master's in the States. Most are now trying to move away from mid level to management roles by undergoing a 2nd masters in MBA or Engineering Management. AutoCad and Solidworks are good foundation. Most firms will have other design software suites adapted to their operations. You would be taught on how to use it when you get on board.

Hey guys,

Planing to move to the US soon and I would like to know how lucrative these courses over there: Medical Physics/Health Physics/biotechnology. Planing to do Master's degree in any of them. What is the job prospect. I have a solid background here in Naija already. Don't want to go into different discipline entirely.

What are your thoughts?

Viability + Feasibility and by extension job prospects as a non-resident should be your first worry, not Lucrativeness...

Someone I schooled with was able to get a job with a Biology Msc, I know she didn't have residency the last time we talked.

Other science fields are paths to the American Dream too, not only the engineering field.

I have tried to attach an old stem list for you to see if the '3 year' opt stay applies to your intended courses..
I couldn't attach the 280kb file.

^for the second part of your question, Nigerian experiences work...

Several people have gotten jobs based on their Nigerian experiences

I. 6years Nigerian experience in 3 manufacturing companies.
No US work experience but was employed as an industrial engineer. Salary between 85-95k.
His experiences were very very similar so the company was hiring a senior engineer.

II. Around 4years (not very sure, could be more) Nigerian supply chain experience.
A US supply chain internship, hired as a Senior Analyst in same field.

All happened this summer after masters graduation, no be old story.

Properly leverage your skills from Nigeria and you'll be fine.

Thanks so much for your prompt reply.
I going there as a legal immigrant. Also, I do not have any industrial experience in Nigeria yet. I have MSC in Health Physics from Nigeria university.

Can you

I will like your guidiance and advice.

Thanks

I'd suggest you continue in Engineering since that's what you were already doing. As already mentioned, you will need to get a Master's here in a similar field. As for Software Dev. certifications, there are tons out there. It depends if you want to focus on any specific programming language. Of course, you have to learn the language thoroughly before taking the certification. I can only speak for Java - https://education.oracle.com/java/java/pFamily_48

Started the day with a 3+hour drive, not much expectations and a 'lemme just see what's there attitude' but my mind was blown away but what I saw.

Too many parts of the park visit in too little time, not much my cameras could capture but my soul was well fed by nature in its finest form.

Our plans to go back tomorrow morning has been suspended, distance from our Lodge to the park is over an hour and on a treacherous stretch of winding road - max speed over 85% of the twist, turns, hills and valleys was 25-35mph... Goes to show how unfriendly the drive is.

The day ended on a high note with pizza wey sweet like say cobnomi deh inside.. cheesy

Nnukwu Oga Macky, I need your advice on something very important.
I somehow met this girl who lives and work in Idaho-hills.And things are already serious between us, at least for me. She has not been lucky with men and almost gave up in finding love. Right now, She can not visit,(works full-time) but rather she wants me to come.

Do I have her file for me, or continue with my F1 application. Which is the best route?

Please I want to ask a very dumb question, I can easily tell if a picture is taken abroad even if it’s taken in a place considered as a village or Ghetto, especially if it’s a selfie and I notice the sky is always clearer and blue-like, for God’s sake aside from the different atmospheric conditions, is there any difference in African, European and American sky? Like I said, it’s a dumb question.
