It is a long story you are asking me. If you can read the epistle. Lol. Ok, let me summarise it.

Every 2 - 4 years, seed companies bring out new varieties. It is a continuous research. Do you know how much spent on researches? On my thread, I will publish a case study on a pharmaceutical company which sold a drug around $500 during the years its patent was valid. As soon as the patent expired, other companies dived in, and crashed the product to $20. Today, Indians even made it cheaper in the Nigerian market with whatever. It's around $4 -5 here. Lol. Of course, this is a lawless country antibiotics are bought over counter. Very wrong. But that company which held the patent was smart. 2 years before the patent expiration, it brought out another product got its patent and started advertising it like the new one is better. The producer simply changed minor things inside it which was documented in the patent details. And they started making comparison. What kind of comparison? They only optimized this new drug. And by doubling the old one crashed to $20, same result will be achieved. Like the real worth is just $40, and not $600 or so that they sold the new one. It was after many years of profit that some doctors noticed it. And they started screaming. That was how their bubbles were bursted. Lol. My point is that manufacturing companies are smart. Every new cultivar is a little tweek from the old one. And studying it is the way out. Though, innovation is possible too.

To answer your question, Africa is poor. We cannot pay for the research of these new seeds. Old seeds that are out of the market in their region because of competition are brought to W. Africa and they even make good profit with it here. They dont bother to educate W. Africans about innovations. They know Nigerian farmers are extremely poor in their thinking ability. But good money is in Nigeria.

Of course Hazera has two common varieties in Nigeria which are Galileo and Shanty. Do you know the many tweaks Hazera has done to these seeds in W Africa just to confuse farmers? Lol. Maybe not to, but just to adapt them to different climatic system. These two seeds have made them huge profit. So, they just move them to Africa to make more good profit. And set up trial centres with affiliates. The guy who is in charge of the seeds in Nigeria is Israeli. The funny issue is that these seeds are problems in SW because they have no tolerance to bacteria wilt. Lol.

So, I contacted the main guy who us in charge of Africa, but the guy was extremely rude. We exchanged some unfriendly messages. Why? He rubbished me cos I wrote from Nigeria. Told me straight that the new varieties are not for Nigeria. I felt insulted, and I gave it back to him because he was extremely rude. Meanwhile we were both copying others the messages. When the main guy in Nigeria saw the messages he phoned me immediately and started pleading with me to try to understand the situation. We had almost 45 mins phone discussion.

Summary of our discussion:
1. Kenya is even trying to do greater in Veggie farming than Nigeria.
2. Farmers are not ready to accept innovation in Nigeria.
3. How many has greenhouses in Nigeria?
Please, I dont want to go into it. I was ashamed myself. And the man still pleaded that I should take the ones for my region and we work together. But what are we working together on when I know about these varieties very well. I have tried them, and I know how they are. So I decided not to persuade them further. And I left them alone. I simply got in touch with someone to buy the new ones for me. And I imported them. Of course they are extremely expensive. But that is the price I have to take.

I am sorry bro. I cannot reveal the names of these varieties here. They might be reading my posts too. They have different varieties for different climatic conditions. I simply went for the one which I know is similar to my climatic condition. When I am done with my pilot, I will "fire" back that man who insulted me. Lol!

But let us be serious. Are we really trying to improve in Nigeria? If we show more interests in these new breeds, and they see we are more into farming, they will set up research centers here so that seeds produced can be cheap. Go and read how these farmers always attack me for trying to let them know that we are our own enemy. No, they dont want to hear about it. They must want to use the seeds Mongo Park's great grand father used. Lol. They want to use cutlass to clear 10,000 ha for Babajide Sanwo-Olu. Hehhehe. They want Osinbajo to give them more and more subsidy on fertilzer. They even want Buhari to approach BHN and Hazera to pay subsidy for seeds. Lol.

If you understand what I face daily just because I am Nigerian...hmmmm. I dont have the habit of hiding my IP address, but as soon as they know it is coming from W.Africa, they avoid my messages like my mail is a virus. Like it is a scam. Guy, I am tired of Nigeria. Let me just put it this way: Naija is in trouble. But I love this country with everything in me. The love that made me return here is still there, but it is getting to the stage that I am really getting tired.

I have an answer to something special in my heart I am waiting for on Monday. I dont know what the outcome is going to be, but it is just because I am Nigerian there is trust issue.

If you are not frustrated with Nigeria, it means you haven't tried enough to relate with the outside world. I hate to say it, Nigeria is sinking seriously. Go to front page, they are always calling my Nigeria a sh..thole. My own Nigeria oooo. In the 70s, $1 is around 0.7naira. Why? British pounds associated with ours then. As soon as British pulled away from us....hmmmm. Just look at the exchange rate now. Dishonesty is a virus. It kills. It has injured Nigeria seriously.

Sir, I read this your post and I can relate to what you're getting at here.. I'm still in my early twenties and since I obtained my ND, I've never worked with any Nigerian company.. infact all my works to date has always been online related.. even in my compound where I live they think I'm a Yahoo boy.. only those that are closer to me knows how I truly get my money.. and everytime I'm searching for a job online I'm being forced to deny myself as Nigerians.. even in the platform where I work I still see nigerians trying to scam our company.. it's just a big shame.. then how do you expect me to open up to them that I am Nigerian.. most of the time I am forced to expose most Nigerian scammers to my boss ... telling him this client you're chatting with thinking hes an American or British is a Nigerian..

It's just a shame ....

And even our parents, leaders and ladies are not making thing easy as they're endorsing these scammers.... nobody wants to work, but they all want to drive Benz ..

I've lost job opportunities online more than once for just exposing the fact that I'm Nigerian.. to me the name of this country is more like a curse on me and it is painful

A British taught me online trading. This man wanted a Benz SUV, and decided not to come to office until 2pm for over a month, we usually closed at 5pm. Lol. He was by boss. Within 45 days, the guy drove a brand new Benz SUV to office in 2005. I was shocked. Well, do you know that if you are Nigerian you cannot trade on some platforms? Hehhehe. I am not sure if SaxoBank is still accepting Nigerians. I stopped taking my laptop in private cars when police started harassing anyone with laptop. I had to dump my Jeans pant with Blazer (My style of dressing) for native attires too. No more usage of waves patterned hair cream. Lol. Infact, no more usage of special fragrance because it makes these police to just delay one unnecessarily hoping one gives them bribe. Anyway, I am used to it. Just dash them, and let them leave you in peace. They are always the one praising and hailing one. Very funny environment. Lol. Or dress like a real big man they will be scared to say anything to. Lol. But I understand that it may be hard for anyone in his 20s to achieve.

I cant imagine myself doing 8am - 4pm job. Trading is a part of me. But I have stopped trading because I need to move from one location to another often when I was into field farming. So, this one reason, I want to relocate. I cannot be stressing myself with security issues.

While I was in the university, while I would start struggling to apply for Visas for paid conferences awarded to outstanding students (by the way, I missed so many opportunities) my caucasian Norwegian friend simply picked his baggage, and zoomed. It is why many prefer to become citizen of another nation.

But these people that have destroyed us, the bad leaders enjoyed the respect of the old classic reputation Nigeria had. In the 70s, no Nigerian student was denied student Visa to the US. Britain was a free pass.

Everyone I know, I always tell them to just take the Nigerian Visa and fly to Nigeria with Visa instead of using the Nigeria Passport. The worst treatment you get is when you arrive. The expats' line at our points of entry are smooth and free. But join the Nigerian line ....hahaha. when you are returning, it is same ooo. Use an American passport and they start saluting you, but bring out your Nigerian passport, and they start demanding you must pay like it is their right to collect bribe from you. Lol. Even pack overload with your American, British, or Canadian Passport, they will even want to assist you reduce the price you will pay for excess luggage. Lol. But carry Nigerian passport....you will hear many nasty comments. It is just unfortunate.

Let me shock you. The US is not even saying Nigerians should apply for visas esp if it's not immigrant Visa. They dont even want us to apply. All they are asking is: let us have access to a database where we can check your people coming. This is why most European countries do not need Visa to enter the US. Just pick your bag and fly. When you get to the point of entry, you will be asked questions and you are free to enter. But a Naija man commits credit card crime, runs to Nigeria and as soon as he enters Lagos, he is gone. He cannot be be traced. Whenever they ASK Nigeria to produce him...lol..for where? Can you nab air? The guy has turned to oxygen as soon as he lands in Nigeria. And they will be shocked that this same person is already in the US again after some months with another document. Ha! Naija. U na dey try oooooo. This was the reason the US started finger print check to address this dubious act.

We are not even ashamed. Promoting cutlasses and hoes in 2019. Look at out low standard poultry pens. Yet, it is so expensive for us to construct. Honestly, the person who cursed Nigeria did a very good job.

But my brother, this is where money is. I am here to make money. Leave Naija? I always feel like leaving, but brossss na lie. A no dey go anywhere. In this Naija, there is real gold. I will continue hunting for treasures here. I am not ready to do any yeye work in the cold again. The way Aliko Dangote struggled it out, we will too. I have just learned that to be a leader, a price must be paid. Of course, I can be like Femi Otedola whose base in the UK but his businesses are in Naija. But before he reached that level, he worked his as.s in Nigeria. And by God's grace I am in the stage of building something I do not need to be around to manage. This is the way to do it well.

Keep working hard. Victory is sure. Let us not derail this thread.

An acre for a start?

Why not try small and scale up.

Don't be deceived nor carried away by paper projections on profitability of pepper littered here and there.

Try it first. Know your market and other unforseen circumstances like disease outbreak.

Make you no go lose your capital.

My candid advice

That's a thorough advice but if he does it well and the market favors him next year.
From the little experience i had this year (April to July harvest season), I met few illiterate farmers in my area who cashed out big when a flour bag was sold for 16k every market day. There's a man, my father's friend who harvested between 3-4 bags of pepper every 8 days and he did that for 2 straight months at 16k p/bag. Do the maths.
Even me that my father cultivated small piece of farmland for, i plucked 1 flour bag for a month.
O'boy, money dey inside pepper farming if you harvest when Hausa pepper don finish for market .

For the mainline hose.. I cant give details of the thickness.. but I was assured of purchasing a grade that can last me 5 to 6 years of active use

You can substitute mainline hose for pvc

50 pieces of connectors and endplug

Spacing btw drip hole.. 30cm

And each hole can supply 4liters of water to the plant in 1 hour

30cm is for cucumbers too close for pepper, pepper will be 40 or even 50cm,that 30cm will need to jump 1 or 2 emitters when transplanting
