That is the wrong oil my brother. Correct oil 5w20 , I have 03 civic and recommended oil is 5w20... hopefully the damage of that engine is still ok ..Hondas have great engines ...but it can only take abuse for so long... below is my civic

Helllo Dru,

Got my car in July and I started realy using it september, serviced it when it go to Naij. It recently came up with oil level 15% with a wrench light on the dashboard, does this mean i need to change the oil already? If yes, can i do it myself or I'd need a mechanic?

Alternatively, could it be that the oil indicator on the dashboard was not reset when the car was serviced, because that is another thing I learnt could cause it .

Lastly, how often do you recommend oil change?

Mechanic claimed he did in August when he serviced it

The % means how far your oil is suppose to go before changing it. For most newer cars with the proper synthetic blend it is set from factory about 5000 miles so when you change your oil you reset and it will read 100% after driving 1000 miles it will read 80% at 2500 miles 50% 4000 miles 20% 5000 miles 0% and your car will start beeping every time you start saying maintenance required.

But if you are sure that the mechanic has changed the oil, just rest the light. And please make sure you use the recommended engine oil.

One of 04 civic did similar thing... maintenance light came up.... We did oil an oil change and the maintenance still came on .. My mechanic reset the maintenance light and it went off .. Take yours to a civic expert and have them take look at it..maybe the maintenance light needs to be reset. Have them look at the level too..
Since I use my civic for uber work .. I do oil change with Mobil 1 Extended Performance good for 15k miles oil change interval... but I change my oil every 10k to 12k with Fram oil filter.... I never had any issues so far and the car has been on uber platform for 8months plus .And I bought the car tokunbo with about 91k miles ....The correct oil for those civics is 5w20..

Now there is YouTube video that tells you how to reset it.. But better take it to a good mechanic and have them check it out through to be safe. ... civics are known to have good engine and tough too. The last civic I had to sell had tough engine. It was Nigerian Mobil xhp wrong oil at the time.. It lasted me about 2 years on uber platform.. And my mechanic advice to sell it before the engine starts to smoke due to the use of Mobil xhp 20w50... The engine was tough as nail and transmission was good too .. If I can recall I bought the car with 169k miles and I sold it with 269k miles ....

Most urban roads in Nigeria is flooded this rainy season, try and do the following -

Don't rev your engine on flooded roads, may suck water into your engine, allow your car roll as it steams

Get good wiper blades to improve visibility in the rainfall.

Avoid asbestos brake pads, loses grip in flooded terrains

Make sure drain channels in open roof vehicles are thrown open to avoid flooded cabins

Replace worn out weatherstrips (door chromes), the rubber lines on them prevents water from sipping into your door compartments and cause damage to your central locks.

Having same issue with my honda civic 08 but my story is different.

My car was working perfect except that the power steering pump makes my steering hard when slowing diwn to make a turn. So i decide to purchase a new power steering pump.

When the mechanic wanted to remove the PSP, he saw that the pSP was still good but the 2 bolts holding it were broken into the engine.

And the only option that i was given was for they to remove my engine to get the broken bolts out, which they did.

After fitting my car engine together,

...... my check engine light came up.
...... car wont rev when idle
...... car jerk heavily when shifting from P
..... serious body vibration and noise
..... sucking fuel 4x normal consumption
..... D never stops blinking even after shifting from D to others

I took the car back and all bolts were tighten and the mechanic called a rewire. To make it rev.

still nothing chanced only that the car could rev. And more problem surfaced. Eg
......battery not charging
...... AC fan comes on when AC is off and AC fan goes off when AC is put on, cause overheating.
..... car stiil jerking whenever i shift to R or D
..... rev now between 1500 to 2000 on idle
...... lagging when moving with sound like handbrakes not down.
...... forceful movement and late changing in gear when on motion.
...... D shift still blinks on dash board

Visited 2 other rewires in oyingbo. Same problems resurface after leaving there and driving some distance.

So i took it for a scan and the result was

=P0141
=P1658
=P0369
=P16BB

And the scanner man worked on it and everything seem pretty perfect but the check engine came back not long same day .

All problem gone, just the check engine light on and Ac fan permanently rolling as soon as i put on the engine. While D still blinks on dash board

Not until last night, while i was trying to turn around the car within a street. My gear shifter, just got slippery from P to D1 back and forth without changing. And i got stucked on R ...

I put off my engine and then it refuse to start cos the gear is on R but i move the shifter to P and N ... it still show gear on R on the dash board.

Im now very confused. My car just go worst. Need help

I dont know why i allow my engine to be removed sef.

Pls where you able to fix it because am facing same now my car don’t drive or R they check the gearbox he said is okay and we jack the car and start it the Tyre was rolling same goes to the second one but it doesn’t roll on R but driver

Gurus in the house, pls help me with my 2008 Honda pilot. I bought the car last 2 months toks.
1. Check engine light is on the dash board and is constant. It was scanned and I was told that bank 1 & bank 2 sensors 02 are not functioning.and need to be replaced. What should I do? Do I have to change them or is there any other solution?

2. Again, the security alarm system goes off sometimes without anybody tampering with the car. When it goes off and I open the door manually, it'll stop. But after sometimes it goes off again. I then removed the battery head and it stopped. But today i went off again after one week that it have stopped. What could be the problem? And what should I do?

Thanks for your help.
