Here in Nigeria, it's an insult and degreding to start competing with Ghana in terms of Infrastructural Dev, in terms of foreign income , standard of living. When you are done competing with Togo, Benin and Sudan you can then call us to begin to access you with one of the states in Nigeria. Thank you

OH Gracious lord jux when I thought l av settled this issue of supremacy by the enough facts n figures I av enumerated, then another "ignorant" nigerian springs up from nowhere to banter.. OK now let's do this analysis; England has a land mass of about 130279 Sq km with a population of about 55million inhabitants n Nigeria, land mass of approximately 923763 Sq km and a population of roughly 200 million inhabitants, yet Nigeria always go to the former cup-in-hand for aid else it will starve to death...So u see ur argument on the basis of land size does not hold water n is therefore declared null n void, in fact invalid... nxt time don't ever argue base on land mass.. Free lesson n advice.
You better get off this forum with your dumb head, you Ghanians are inferior and will forever be, your entire GDP is not up to that of Lagos, monkeys. I remember when your short monkey looking President wanted to pass a law that will enable the prosecution of those caught engaging in homosexual acts, but as soon as your masters in America and UK threaten to stop the aids your poor country get, your government recants, today Ghana is a tourist center for gays, tunneling the ass of poor Ghana boys with small dollars in exchange, but in Nigeria we shunned them, gays here get 14years imprisonment, so we don't ask for aids from any nation, we are self sufficient...I only go to Ghana to relax cos its quiet like my village... without Nigeria's investors, cash inflow and market you guys will suffer, but we can live without you. Parasites.

Ghana is expensive yet Nigerians can afford what Ghanaians can't pay for or buy but that doesn't make apartment in OSU more expensive than brain and hammer estate... Taking about fraudsters, what is the meaning of sakawa in Ghana? Why do they call asante women harlot?
Nigerians can't afford it , most of those who can afford are those that engage in shady buisness. I only ask you a simple question, how much those it cost to stay in brain and hammer for a month? it seems that is the most expensive estate in Lagos right?

Custom officials are using this border closure as an excuse to extort people at the border. They are stilling there as we talk. Those people are heartless. They would ask you of your passport and if you don't provide it they will make you pay.

You are wrong. An average Nigerian in Ghana wants a measure of comfort. The kind we are used to back home in Nigeria and in order to get this comfort we pay heavily for it because an average Ghanaian can afford to live in a room or a chamber and hall as they call it while using a public toilet as convenience. They do not even bother to include a kitchen in most homes and prefer either cooking outside or making it in a way that the person renting creates their own kitchen in a place called a porch which is meant to be the balcony region at the entry of the apartment.

Life is not easy for Ghanaians here but a bit easier for Nigerians because whenever we go to ghana, we go prepared thus enjoy relative more comfort than they do.

Keep your nonsense to yourself. I know Nigerians living condition in Ghana. living like a parked of fish embroiled in sardines or renting up a shop which they also called a home is what you called an average Nigerians.

Telling Ghanaians life is not easy is so stupid , is life easy for Nigerians in Nigeria? At least this ordnairy Ghanaian have. access to free health care, free access to education for their wards. Ghanaians are comfortable, And as for those. you see in Accra living wreched life, they choose to migrate for a better life , it is not that they cant afford to live a decent life in the village. This homeless population you see have large parcels of land for farming and shelter in their hometowns but the condition attached to live in Accra makes them live such a life. In short, the majority of Ghanaians do have the means to live a decent life.

The only Nigerians living a comfortable life in Ghana ( if not diplomat) are either into fraud or prostitution. only few Nigerians can claim is living a decent life in Ghana.

most of Nigerians coming into Ghana are poor, they just want to excape Nigeria and find a decent life elsewhere.

That's why I am laughing louder than a hyena when someone says Ghanaian economy is better managed than Nigeria. Ghana Cedi that was redenominated in 2007 due to hyper inflation . Ghana Cedi had a 20,000 note before the redenomination. To make the cedi look strong, they removed 4 zeros from their currency, so 20,000 GHC became 2cedis.
Even with the redenominations, inflation has continued to devalue the currency.

After the redenomination GHC0.92 exchanged for one $1, today GHC5.48 exchange for $1, a 700% increase. In comparison, N120 exchanged for $1 in 2007, today it's at N360, that's a 400% increase.

Another ignorance here, anyway let me enlight you a little ...

The depreciation of cedi is structural and not necessarily due to any form of mismanagement of the economy by the government in power. Ghana inflation is going down 7.9 percent, producer price index is going down, economy is growing at 8 percent(one of the highest in the world) Therefore cedi depreciation can never be attributed to weak economy fundamentals because all economy index proves Ghana economy is healthy, so it's structural.

in a nut shell, the main depreciation or appreciation of the Cedi is fundamentally determined by the supply and demand for US dollars. in Ghana. The supply of USD is mainly from foreign reserves which is dependent on the amount of foreign exchange Ghana receive from exports and foreign aid. With Ghana now classified as a lower middle-income country, the foreign aid component would continuously dwindle. unlike Nigeria(lower income country) that still received a larger chunk of foreing aid to support her expenditure.

in millennial , the only time naira has perform better without the support of CBN is 2000 and 2001. since then, naira have been overvalued according to IMf by 20 percent and with constant injection of dollars to back up naira.

naira is not in free flow like cedis. naira is strongly backed by CBN constant dollar injection. cedis is free flowing based on supply and demand. the recent Nigeria recession exposed the weak fundamental of Nigeria economy and the stabilization of naira . when. a dollar is been exchanged for almost 600 naira. Assuming oil price remain at 48 dollar per barrel, naira will have crumble further. check cedi value within 2016 and 2017 and let's talk agian...

And to your suggestion about hyper inflation

cedi was not redominated because of hyper inflation, infact at the time of redomination in 2007, Ghana inflation was 12 percent. it was simply redominated as part of the government’s efforts to convince citizens and markets that hyper-inflation is a thing of the past. Inflation was as high as 116% in 1977, 117% in 1981 and 123% in 1983.

They should go a head. Nigeria is the largest population in African. We can survive without selling our product to them. Many company relocate to Ghana and the target buyer is Nigerian. Closure of borders is the best things for Nigeria. If PMB will do like China, he will close borders for all goods not only rice and vehicle. China did it and it work for them. We can Start producing everything in Nigeria by ourselves. If we close borders all the company that is producing what we are consumed in Nigeria will come and establish their company in Nigeria and people will get job.

If China had closed their borders they wouldn't have the highest level of export in the world. Why will a country allow your products if you won't allow theirs ? They rapidly industrialized and began to produce value added goods that the rest of the world can't do without. While the rest of the world was selling China rife and stone, China was selling them television sets, clothes, high tech machines and shoes. China became capable of producing everything and thus, while it's borders are open, China is able to export way more than it imports because there is nothing another country can produce and sell to China that it can't itself produce at a much cheaper price.

I have been to villages in Ghana and the story is same.

They do not have free health care what they have is subsidized health care through health insurance. They pay for tests and treatment but at a cheaper rate so its not free. Those who enjoy free health care are those employed with multinational companies and enjoy private health care which is same as in Nigeria.

I am sure you meant Ghanaians and not Nigerians because last time i checked the most rented apartment for a typical Ghanaian is a room with a porch where they manage with their wife, children and grandchildren since their children end up getting pregnant as teenagers and deliver while in the same room with the parents.

False equivalence. Nigeria is very different from Ghana. Our borders are way longer than Ghana's and so more difficult to man, besides most of the smuggling don't happen at the borders, there are hundreds if not thousands of bush paths and water ways smugglers use to smuggle into the country.

We have tried those policies you mentioned to no avail. I remember during IBB's time, a ban was placed on locating fuel stations close to the border.
Placing trackers on all petrol tankers sound ridiculous. Do you know how many petrol tankers are on our roads. Fuel tankers line the whole Oshodi express way from tin can ports to cele (a distance of more than 10km) queuing load fuel. Same on the other end from tin can to Carter bridge blocking the whole of Apapa. There are thousands of petrol tankers coming and leaving Apapa everyday.
Fuel consumption in Ghana is not up to 10% of what we consume in Nigeria.

How much fertiliser is smuggled from Ghana, I am sure it cannot be more than a few tens or at worst hundreds of tons, you want to compare it to the Millions of litres of petrol smuggled from Nigeria daily? How much subsidy do the government pay for fertiliser? Can it be compared to the N3 trillion Jonathan paid during his time, or the nearly N500 billion budgeted for next year?

Nigerians smuggling textiles into Ghana? That's news to me. Where are they getting the textiles from, as our textile mills are not working. Are you insinuating they import the textiles through our ports and then smuggle it all the way to Ghana through Benin republic and Togo?
yep that is exactly what they do

import textiles from India and China and smuggle it to Ghana.
Togo and Benin cant dont anything about it because the goods is a transit goods.
All they do is put a tracker on the truck to make sure it exit their country.

If you keep giving excuses for your problems, you will never solve anyone of them.
Do you know how many trucks enter and exit it southern border?

Yet they track every single one of them

Very apt, their currency is so useless and continues to depreciate .
Virtually everything is so expensive and not as if their disposable income is higher than that of Nigeria.
Naira from 120 to 360(about 3times depreciation) to a dollar and cedis from 0.92 to 5.48(about 6times depreciation) to a dollar and they feel they are making progress better than Nigeria.
Nigeria could decide to remove 2 zeros from the naira and an American dollar becomes 3 naira 60 kobo today.
The South Korean won is over 1,200 to a dollar and the Japanese yen over 120, I guess Ghanaians in the house can explain how their economy is better than than those of Japan and South Korea

Free floating and you're not ashamed, the Japanese yen and South Korean won are free floating too but are not depreciating.
The cedis has been depreciating from when it was redenominated since over the last 15 years. Even if we agree that it only depreciated in the last two months, why from 0.92 to over 5 cedis, just under two months.

this is exactly what is happening. Besides most of these imports are textiles and leather products like bags shoes etc which end up being smuggled into the Nigerian Market. Case in point, their kantamanto market where this is done brazenly.

What a nonsense. free health insurance is a guaranteed for every Ghanaian ( something that don't exist in Nigeria) free education and free feeding is also guaranteed for every Ghanaian( A luxury in Nigerians) . health care is basically free in Ghana, once you are insured, you are cover. you only pay a peanut for the insurance cover which is even less than two thousand naira.(20 cedis and that last for a year)

It is common sense that human thrive to have a better life whatever the kind of life they are living, Even dangote still hope for the best. it is stupid you don't understand the Ghanaian moving to the city is basically becuse of better life and not because they are poor in the village( this people you see in Accra are not homeless in the village, they own a landed and farming property) How can you called such people poor?

majority of Nigerians living in Ghana are highly poor, they can't even afford a decent accommodation in the village talkless of the town . someone like you must be living an improvised life. what is your work in the village? there is something that is taking you there and that is simply poverty, you want a new heaven.

Nigerians case is even worst, Nigeria is reported to own the highest poor individual in the world . over 90 million Nigerians are poor, that immediately crush India, Nigerians village is even another headache. try plying lagos to Abuja road. check owo, akoko, ibilo, okene and co and see how youth are wasting up thier life . no work, no education , even the one engaging in okada are more less on instalment .very wretched community.

In Abuja particular, most Nigerians can't even afford a decent life , so they move to kubuwa, yanya and other suburbs of the area. Nigerians are more like slaves in their own capital state.

it seems you don't know there is poverty in your land..... I will tell you more later.....

Imagine $36.5 billion for a population of 201 million people and compare to $13 billion for 28 million people. Lazy people who are always ready to leech on Nigeria.
see Nigerians are the problem of themselves.... Nigerians are the one importing used cloth, they are the importing rice , they are also the one importing old cars. benin buisness men are not into it . they only facilitate the buisness, it is Nigerians who helps the goods down to Nigerians. so blame Nigerians in this as well.

And again, what is taking the larger chunk is the import of Nigeria refined oil. Nigeria lacks the capacity to refined its own fuel hence importation. Ghana once import refined fuel into Nigeria once or twice.

Ghana cant leech on Nigeria, it is expensive to do that.....it is rather the other way round...

author=vaxx2 post=83327656] What a nonsense. free health insurance is a guaranteed for every Ghanaian ( something that don't exist in Nigeria) free education and free feeding is also guaranteed for every Ghanaian( A luxury in Nigerians) . health care is basically free in Ghana, once you are insured, you are cover. you only pay a peanut for the insurance cover which is even less than two thousand naira.(20 cedis and that last for a year)

I repeat you are confused and so deeply ignorant. Health care here in Ghana is not free. You pay for medical insurance and still pay for treatment and drugs at a subsidized rate. Speak on the things you know and not from your place of ignorance. Health care is not guaranteed for every Ghanaian because they die daily like fish over easily treatable conditions. Even their so called health care workers are ignorant of basic drugs for treatment. Every saturday here is a burial day for Ghanaians and you need to witness how many go on every saturday.

Herbal medicine is king here and not proper medical care.

Young man when they still live in mud houses with pit latrines in the village then i can say they are poor. Even their young men live in such mud houses and refuse to farm due to laziness. Moving to the city does not make it easier because they end up mass renting a room and go to public bath houses to bath daily. Some of them even prefer living in the village and travel to accra to work from monday to friday and return to their village on weekends.

majority of Nigerians living in Ghana are highly poor, they can't even afford a decent accommodation in the village talkless of the town . someone like you must be living an improvised life. what is your work in the village? there is something that is taking you there and that is simply poverty, you want a new heaven.

Nigerians do not live in the villages of Ghana. The conditions there are too appalling for a Nigerian to cope. I do not live in a village. If you check my posts i Live in the central region and i am sure that for even you CENTRAL does not mean suburbs. You can read up the rest about me in my previous posts here and then cure yourself of this foolishness in your head.

Nigerians case is even worst, Nigeria is reported to own the highest poor individual in the world . over 90 million Nigerians are poor, that immediately crush India, Nigerians village is even another headache. try plying lagos to Abuja road. check owo, akoko, ibilo, Jolene and co and see how youth are wasting up thier life . no work, no education , even the one engaging in okada are more less on instalment .very wretched community.

Nigeria owns that much number of poor due to our large population which is the largest in the black community in the world. If we as a population of 200m have 90m who are below poverty line then we are richer and better off than Ghana who with 28m still struggle with poverty to the extent their ladies are sleeping with men in exchange for fish. 110m Nigerians are not poor and live above the poverty line.

In Abuja particular, most Nigerians can't even afford a decent life , so they move to kubuwa, yanya and other suburbs of the area. Nigerians are more like slaves in their own capital state.

it seems you don't know there is poverty in your land..... I will tell you more later.....

What you see happening in Abuja is what is happening in the ENTIRE Ghana just so you get my point. Abuja is just a location in Nigeria while Ghana is a country. It seems you don't know there is poverty in Ghana. You are so blind.

Parasites.

When Ghana locked just 400 Nigerian shops in a town in Kumasi alone, your government and trade unions were organizing protest at the ECOWAS office crying xenophobia and free trade buh you're here shouting Giant of Africa because you have unilaterally closed your borders to starve yourselves to death. GUTA had always hated you since Kwame Nkrumah and you have foolishly gave them a chance to eliminate you from Ghana. For your information millions of Nigerians live in Ghana and do trade of imports and exports. GUTA was the one who locked all your shops in Kumasi. Now tell me,Ghana exports goods worth just 80 million dollars to Nigeria for a country who exports 17 billion dollars worth of goods outside, less than 0.5% goes to Nigeria buh Nigeria exports goods worth 303 million dollars to Ghana in a year.If Ghana bans your goods, tell me who loses more. The minister is just a diplomat who knows how ugly it will be if Ghana retaliates so she's going diplomatic first to tell you to comply ECOWAS protocols .Warning to your country if you refuse her diplomatic settlement. Ghana never needs Nigeria.
go and check what constitutes larger percentage of our exports to Ghana and find out why banning our products will hurt Ghana more and why your minister is begging.

Your people act sometimes as if they don't depend on others too. Busia did that with his alien proclamation in the 50s, when Nigeria retaliated, it was our own you people remember, not his. We have more than 500k Ghanaians in Nigeria, when you want to attack our people, think of Ghanaians here.

You people are not far away like south Africa, so watch how you act out of hate.

I never knew border closure is a good development until I discovered Ghana is feeling the heat.
