I was looking forward to the epistle because it will give me details and insight as usual. Thank you for taking time out to write it.

I'll stop here so that like you pointed out to someone else, "let's not derail the thread."

Money dey 9ja sha! I believe you on that.

Cheers.

It is a long story you are asking me. If you can read the epistle. Lol. Ok, let me summarise it.

Every 2 - 4 years, seed companies bring out new varieties. It is a continuous research. Do you know how much spent on researches? On my thread, I will publish a case study on a pharmaceutical company which sold a drug around $500 during the years its patent was valid. As soon as the patent expired, other companies dived in, and crashed the product to $20. Today, Indians even made it cheaper in the Nigerian market with whatever. It's around $4 -5 here. Lol. Of course, this is a lawless country antibiotics are bought over counter. Very wrong. But that company which held the patent was smart. 2 years before the patent expiration, it brought out another product got its patent and started advertising it like the new one is better. The producer simply changed minor things inside it which was documented in the patent details. And they started making comparison. What kind of comparison? They only optimized this new drug. And by doubling the old one crashed to $20, same result will be achieved. Like the real worth is just $40, and not $600 or so that they sold the new one. It was after many years of profit that some doctors noticed it. And they started screaming. That was how their bubbles were bursted. Lol. My point is that manufacturing companies are smart. Every new cultivar is a little tweek from the old one. And studying it is the way out. Though, innovation is possible too.

30cm is for cucumbers too close for pepper, pepper will be 40 or even 50cm,that 30cm will need to jump 1 or 2 emitters when transplanting
can spacing of 60cm *45cm also be used for rain fed pepper

I came across this online...does that mean a plot measuring 50* 100 will take up to 13000 plants

From the picture above, that's 3000msquare, almost an acre.. but still I doubt that amount can be achieved

Except you want to have a very bushy farm, which may cost you more on management..

only old experienced farmers can achieve 13,000 cucumbers in one acre it is not a small feat to accomplish

My brother, I always tell people that excellent interpretation is the KEY. And the way you showed this picture, hmmm. There are potentials in you.

I know your mathematical skill is not bad, but you made a simple mistake. And that rubbished your work. And this has happened to me too, especially at the beginning of my style.

The document is correct, but you are the one who missed it. 50*100 is what you said. And in Nigeria, it is measured in ft. 50ft*100ft which is less than 1 plot. But, you used 50m*100m which is more than 1 acre. That was your error.

5000 sqft is 464.5 sqm. Use this figure again and you will get the right population for your plot of land. You can even see that 50ft *100ft is not a farm standard plot of land. Standard plot is 667sqm. If you multiple it by 6, you will get close to 4,000sqm which is an acre. Lol. These are fundamentals necessary in crop farming. It is why I always say that mathematical skill is needed. Just imagine how you missed it. And you might start blaming the writer that internet is filled with errors, not knowing that it was a slight error on your part which messed everything, and made you look funny to farmers who do not even understand what you are trying to do. Lol.

Ha ba! Why not? 8,333 on 3,000sqm? It's possible.

But using the diagram, there is an error. It is not really an error, but can be really disastrous. Let me explain.

The writer used 100cm = 1m for walk way. How many people use 1m distance for walk way? Lol. But this is the secret of high yield which many do not know. They think it is high density. Nope. I even use up to 1.5m to 2m for my delicate plant at times. It depends on the situation. My brain is always calculating. It is why I keep shaking head with the default of 30cm emitter spacing farmers want to use. Why? High density....lol. and they even load it on dual rows on beds. Hahahahhaa.

Having said that, the writer wanted the spacing between the two row to be 60cm. What about the borders? He can only have a wider bef wide yo have 60cm between the two rows. He had 1m plus 0.6m which is 1.60m. He is supposed to add at least 10cm or 15cm border which should give 1.8m - 1.9m if added to the walk way. Doing so, population will reduce and will not be 8,333. So, using his diagram, he is wrong. But he can still achieve 8,333 on the same land if walk path is reduced from 1m to 70m to 80cm, so that the bed can be wider. Or, he can reduce use 60cm bed width and reduce the spacing btw rows on beds to 40cm. I am just not sure of good ventilation using tight spacing.

Generally speaking, it is advisable to use 10,000 plants per acre like how someone mentioned above that old school farmers try to use 13,333 plants per acre. I am not saying it is not possible, but really, may not worth it.

So this means 10000 pepper plants could fit into 1 acre?
Because I believe the guy above was referring to pepper plant

Oh...the below comment got me confused and what I did is good for cucumber or may sweet pepper of some kind of cultivars on open field. Well 10,000 habanero plants can fit into an acrea, but I prefer 6,250 - 7,142.

Feed back from people about Avenir F1 pepper is very bad nowadays, the germination rate is very poor. The one did last is just like 30% germination, maybe the seed as stayed long on the shelf,i don't know. I have decided not to help anyone purchase the seed again, the seed can spoil someone integrity. Technisem company should work on the seed germination, its not easy to pay 30k for nothing biko

We can nurse avenir f1 seedling based on request. Germination rate will determine seedling price, range from #30 to #70.

Notion: when buying hybrid seed make sure you buy from dealer that store seed with cool temperature. If you are buying seed directly from Agritropic (techinesm), always revert to them when you have challenges. The company is friendly and have good customer services.

Truly they're friendly but they will only beg you not that they will refund or give another seed...I was at there office near custom today ,they only apologise,i was also told that they have discontinue the sales of Avenir F1 seed for now because of the feedback received from farmers is not encouraging

pepper will always beat tomatoes in revenue generation, check the price difference between almost same quantities of produce and come to think of it tomatoes seems to be more difficult to manage than pepper,I sometimes wonder what makes pepper so costly.
