Dis Joseph Ajaero is talking like mumzi. The banks and the industrial sector know too well that they save a whole lot
of money employing contract staff. The moment a union of contract staff wan gbemu, they employment of contract staff
will be on decline as robots may now be employed.
These employers no longer want to pay pensions, health bills etc.

Non payment of gratuity is already being practiced by some brewing companies too. Their package may seem attractive but their new employees are just like contract staff.

Jesus said...."If the days are not cut short no one will be saved'

Let your kingdom come, o Lord.

The god of this world is doing everything possible to make life difficult such that without cheating, lying, killing, stealing and extortion, survival will be difficult.

Many are falling, many are drawing back, many are compromising, many are out of God's plan for them.

Children of God, pls be careful.

Hold the fort for I am coming Jesus signal still...

Enter any bank and see about 30 people.

Inside that 30, not more than 5 would be staff.

Those 5 might be collecting above 300k while the remaining 25 will be collecting 70, 70k.

Which 70k. 40k . Highest paid is 56k

The best thing any fresh employee can do is to register in a contributory pension scheme, preferably those registered under pencom. Ensure you get Pencom number and Pin and start work out a form of auto-payment with your bank from your salary account (if your employer cannot do so)

Sometimes I wonder why we have NLC.
The worst is indomie workers contracted under Choba Chief. Your salary maybe 80k but at the end of the day, you are getting 28k courtesy of the contractor.

Naija who do una this thing?
so true

All offer of employment are contracts. I think the best adjective to qualify the job/staff is temporary or casual job/staff.

GTB, Zenith, top the list of hiring contract workers, simply because they are source of cheap labour, most bank use them in their bulk room, to count money and sometimes in their marketing section.

This is an example of ignominy and wickedness in a lawless country. Unfortunately most of the owners of the banks are those in the leadership position in the God forsaken country. Therefore that any ameliorating laws be passed to correct this anomally is like dredging for water in a sandy desert, so there is no emancipation in sight for the miserable workers.

In the end, whether we like it or not, the country must go through purging by FIRE before Justice and fairness will exist for all.

Contract job is a slavery phenomenon that is well embraced by all banks and other corporate bodies in Nigeria. It is a devilish tool in the hands of these employers for various degree of exploitations.

Some of these contract staff have been on that status for more than 5 years with no clear cut career path ! They are disengaged at will with no benefits attached.

They are cheap labour and this is why some of these banks and others are systematically replacing even their core staff with contract staff.

It is a sad development.

you're right about this.

Nigerian companies are abusing the 'contract staff' employment system.

Other places contract staffs are well paid, even paid better than company staff because they're on a contract and a special assignment which ends after a certain number of years or months. But you're nkt entitled to benefits which staff are entitled to.

But in Nigeria contract staffs are 'employed' indefinitely and with very low salary compared to regular staff
If na indefinitely, e for better, dey go discard them at 35-40yrs by converting about 2% of them and tell the rest to leave as they are now too old and lack industry expertise due to lack of personal development (wey dey no give dem time off for o) for market trends.

That’s a lie. There’re contract staff earning over 150k. It depends on where you work and your years on the job.

I agree with you.

My point is that many companies now vary their remuneration in a way that employee feels like a permanent staff while being paid the package of a contract staff.

I am presently with one the bank as contract staff since 2012, no conversion the remuneration is nothing to write home about.

The most painful aspect of it is, we the outsource staff are the one training the newly employed full staff on the job and after worth they will make them our supervisor.

I have been praying to God fervently to take me out.

Contract staff is an abuse of human existence. Is second way of enslaving our selves.

Just too Bad.

Core or non core staff of bank are swept out of the system with the same broom. Government promote their staffs every 3 years but banks can keep their staff in one position for 10yrs which supposed to be 2years in their own contract. MAYBE NLC IS NOT FOR THEM. If NLC WANT TO GET THEIR DEMAND DONE, LET THEIR INDUSTRIAL ACTION AFFECT THE BANK TOO. I LIKE the bank am banking with because ITS DIFFERENT and will continue to bank with them
