LOL. Uhm where are these guys getting the notion that DC is a bigger brand than Marvel? The MCU has raked in more revenue than the DCEU that its not even a joke (pun intended); Joker is yet to surpass any of the Avengers films when it comes to Box Office ROI math. Not to mention Marvel has had a more steady success than DC. Also Dark Phoenix is not even the biggest Marvel flop. Fant4stic is. And a couple of DC movies have tanked worse than Fant4stic including Green Lantern and Steel.

Blackspider I never said anything about Box Office Gross. I was talking of Box Office Profit. Joker is not the highest in any of them and even at the end of its run, it won't be. Vic2Ree brought up an interesting point when he mentioned box office ROI and profit. Matter of fact, I've seen the math somewhere online. I'm going to see if I can find it. Joker isn't even the top 12 yet when it comes to profit.

The ROI you are talking about, is it on movies generally or specifically to the superhero genre? Because if it was the latter, Forbes already said it would be the most profitable.

The user reviews on imdb and audience score on Rotten Tomatoes is nothing to write home about.

Apparently people don't like its themes of white supremacy and racism.
Perhaps they prefer the nuclear war tension in the graphic novel.
But then we are not in the 80s anymore and the show ain't set in the 80s.

I don't really understand the backlash.

The backlash is as a result of the opening scene which showed the Telsa 1920 massacre incident by white people on successful black people.

Many of them didn't know (myself inclusive) that it was a true scenario until that day.

A lot felt bad as one of the reviewers in the audience section said that "this series is just a reminder of how racist we are?" Another one said, he will never watch the watchmen series because of that scene. A lot of guilty conscience after that scene.

To be honest, after that day, I had to do a research on telsa 1920 massacre aka black wall street massacre and I was shocked with what white people did to successful black people.

Any white fellow watching it will cringe no matter what.

To make the matter worse, the incidence is so bad, that the American government hide this story from most history books and in schools until this series came out
