Lol...many of this Nigerians don't know that if this country is to make progress and develop further and even better...
we will surely need the input of Nigerians in diaspora...either born or raised there....

we need folks who are exposed and we'll groomed in cultured settings and as well maximize it with the local product or should I use content or rather home groomed manpower resources.....

only a man with limited thinking will dish one for the other...a wise man will rather maximize both for growth...

so what's wrong in doing same when it comes to football

Daniel Jinadu declared for Nigeria did anybody beg him? Adrian Akande declared for Nigeria did any body beg him?

Those you have been begging how many have you been able to convince

You think being exposed and open minded means licking foreign born asses, this your comment reeks of low self esteem

"When I thought of football when I was younger, it was always Ajax or the Dutch team," Dest said in an interview with U.S. club teammateAlex Mendez, published on the Ajax website.

"Never the U.S. But I haven't been approached by the Dutch team."

Asked whether not being contacted by the Netherlands had been a factor in his decision, he added: "Maybe."

Dest grew up in the Netherlands to a Dutch mother and American father. However, Dutch has always been his first language and Dest said it was only when he visited the U.S. that he began to embrace his American heritage.

"My father is from Brooklyn, but we spoke Dutch at home," Dest said. "Actually, until a few years ago, my English was very poor.

"I wasn't thinking of my American roots at all until I went to play in an American youth team. From that moment, my English improved, and I started to feel more American.

"I realised that: 'Hey, this is my nationality, too.' Now I think it's great to be an American as well. It's an asset and as well. The U.S. passport is one of the best in the world."

i disagree! these players have added distinct value to our team and made us better. how many local based players have broken into the super eagles all these years and made a long lasting impact? mikel basically had no competition throughout his stay in the national team but iwobi, aribo and potentially ebere's addition has our midfield now looking half decent.

like tbaba rightly said if countries that have better structures and talents are not shy to go for foreign born players that will add value to their team why should we feel ashamed to approach nigerian born players?

Italy in 2006 used camonaresi an argentine when they won the world cup. spain used senna a brazilian when they won euro 2008.

hell even cameroon used equitorial guinean lauren when they won their afcon titles in 2000 and 2002

Marcos senna was not good enough for the brazil team so he had to try his luck with spain at the age of 29

The Azzurri first showed interest in Camoranesi so he had not choice than to play for them as they are also a great footballing nation

Jorginho is playing for italy because there was no call up from brazil, if jorginho had been patient enough he should be in the brazil team now

What you and I just said is different from begging a player.

Actually some may miss the hidden message in my post. The USA-Holland scenario can be likened along prestige lines to Nigeria-England scenario.

Holland is a bigger team in football than USA. Fact.
Dutch players command great value in the market today. Fact.
Dutch NT players are very marketable too. Another fact.

USA obviously has value especially with interest and support from their American companies but is not a bigger or better football nation than Holland. Not even close.

Plus Dest could easily be starting for Holland over Dumfries. Or at the very worst be in with a shout of some game time while he battles Dumfries for the right to be #1 RB for the Oranje.

Yet inspite of all these... Dest chose USA. The nation of his Dad who is Surinamese-American.

#Selah

In the end... It is all a choice. In Dest's case, he went for the less fanciful option in USA and he feels good about it and a starting place is an absolute guarantee for him.

I await Ebere Eze's final decision. Go for England, obviously the more attractive option and battle it out with Maddison, Mount, Barkley, Alli and Grealish. Or pick Nigeria, a less attractive option but with guarantee of playing time as only Iwobi is your real natural competition.

In the end... It is all a choice but like Dest, let their choices be genuine and not guided by where they are at the moment in their club careers.
Let them not use the mentality of picking us when they are at Wycombe and picking England when at Chelsea. Irrespective of what their club statuses are, let their choices be their real choices.

Dest is an Ajax starter and that is a ticket to NT football for Holland but the lad was not swayed. He wanted USA all along especially as he grew more fond of his American roots. This is a lesson.

Toylove:

Yeah
I saw your post .
That's to show it's not a Nigeria thingy......It's something general and normal

What does the bolded got to do with football? (The US passport is one of the best in the world)

Because the USA passport is one of the best in the world , does that making their national team one of the best in the world?

The guy father is american so he is also american, but i can bet that he cant make the dutch team at the moment thats why he decided to play for the US

Not so fast. Dest will only have Dumfries to compete with had he chosen Holland and several reports out of holland affirm he is a much better RB than Dumfries. Inspite of this... Dest chose the lesser option in USA. His fatherland.

In all, it is a choice. Not everyone will choose like Dest.

can you mention a particular player who turned us down by saying he doesnt want to play for us but his country of birth and afterwards the nff and rohr kept pushing to convince him?

tammy abraham never shut the door to play for nigeria and left his options open but it was obvious he was leaning towards the 3 lions. tomori had an agreement to change allegiance to us after the euro u21s and securing his club future because he never thought that he will be a starter in the london based club. everything changed immediately he started playing for chelsea after luiz departure coupled with rudiger's injury.

billing was contacted even when he was huddlesfield town then in the epl and he made it known he have the ambition to turn out for denmark and was never contacted again. iwobi's discussion with his few weeks ago was personal and not engineered by the nff or rohr.

torunarigha at first contact with rohr made it known to the german that he wants to play for the german national team and since then rohr have not reached out to him ever since, also was the same issue with akpoguma.

the likes of uduokhai and eze still left their options open so i see no reason why the football house and rohr should shut the door on them when they are yet to decide. lookman and ehizibue once turned us down but of late have contacted the nff that they re willing to change allegiance to 9ja, the same with ojo and uduokhai but if you were to be rohr or the nff boss you will shun them just because they didnt decide on time

for Dest to make mention of it...it means he considers it too while thinking on both nations.

you think this players only considers football when making this final choice.... didn't you read the huddersfied guy reason why he won't have opt for Nigeria...because he doesn't feel it, he don't even know how the country look like unlike the Anglo Nigerians... this dudes are already feeling and living Nigeria while I'm the UK since birth hood....

they have learnt and come to know some certain rich and proud assets of the country, that possible will also influence their decision.

just because they werent good enough for the english youth teams. even the likes of iwobi, moses, ameobi, aluko, aina, ebuehi at first approach turned us down. only a few like anichebe, george abbey, ekong and balogun jumped to the offer at the first contact with the nff.

this decisions are not easy to make because majority of these kids have never visited nigeria and the only nation they know is their country of birth, from a young age harbor the ambition and desire to achieve greatness with these european countries. the unfortunate ones rescind their decisions on time when it became obvious to them that breaking into the snr team of this countries will be difficult while the more talented and fortunate ones fight on to actualize thier dreams with their country of birth.

the likes of lookman, uduokhai, ejaria, ojo, ehizibue and akpoguma fall into the category of those who have woken up from their slumber to accept reality while the likes of tammy, tomori, torunarigha, billing and danjuma are the fortunate ones who are still fighting to actualize their dreams.

According to celebrated Spanish sports daily AS, European giants Real Madrid are tracking Nigeria U17 international Samson Tijani at the ongoing FIFA U17 World Cup ahead of a potential transfer.

The deep-lying playmaker is one of seven wonderkids Los Blancos will monitor during the tournament in Brazil, the others being Matías Palacios (Argentina, San Lorenzo), Talles Magno (Brazil, Vasco da Gama), Naci ünüvar (Netherlands, Ajax), Adil Aouchiche (France, PSG), Johan Mina (Ecuador, Emelec) and Fernando Ovelar (Paraguay, Cerro Porteño).

Two other Spanish La Liga clubs in the shape of Barcelona and Atlético Madrid have sent their representatives to run the rule over the Golden Eaglets stars, the newspaper reported.

If Tijani continues to deliver impressive performances in Brazil, Real Madrid believe he is a player they can afford so long as other top European teams do not express interest in his signature.

Having said that, allnigeriasoccer.com can confirm that the Golden Eaglets number 4 is on the radar of Manchester City as well as unnamed clubs in Russia and Belgium.

Tijani was the star of the show as Nigeria came from behind to beat Hungary 4-2 in their World Cup opener on Saturday.
