nemesis8u:I actually saw the post on Reddit, I didn't post the link because not everyone uses the site. I didn't even read the comments on that Twitter was as I was only interested in understanding why I couldn't see any plume trailing the cruise missile. 2 Likes |

Xbee007: Another thing plume may or may not be visible to human eyes depending on the type of fuel , type of combustion , composition of the environment etc So if somebody closes in to a exhaust thinking since plume is not visible it is not there he or she will get chicken fried since plume ( flame ) visibility also depends on the temperature at the exhaust , eg if the emissions r at high enough temp to be in the infra red regions it won't be visible to eye . Exhaust we seen trailing is mostly if there is byproducts released due to combustion or if there is generation of residues due to combustion ( incomplete combustion ) or both of the two. 1 Like 1 Share |

Textile based metamaterials for radar absorption that can be used as uniforms for personnel and skirtings or coverings for ground vehicles. Transparent metamaterial absorbers have been developed for vehicular windshields or canopy of slow aircrafts. Aside from soldier uniforms and cover for ground vehicles, researchers are now developing a more robust version of the metamaterial for high-speed aircraft and “switchable metamaterials for active camouflage applications.” Stealth fighter aircraft use different concepts and heavy ceramic ferrites for achieving stealth. Metamaterial-based absorbers held the promise of lightweight, ultra-thin and flexible materials that could be applied literally on any surface to give the required properties at radar frequencies, infra-red frequencies or even optical frequencies. Researchers at IIT-Kanpur have been working on this material since 2010. The material has been lab-tested, now they will proceed towards field testing it.

SuperSixSeven: TayserMahri: That is the exhaust port for engine And the fans r most probably for cooling and diffusing the exhaust to minimise ir signature ECU is always internal otherwise no point in having it since it is tied to NBC system which needs to be failsafe in any conditions. 1 Like |

MEMS based INS is used for guidance of the glide bombs Pilot feeds in the coordinates via cockpit interface and the bomb is released which guides itself inertially using MEMS based INS which also includes IRNSS (NavIC)-GPS-GLONASS-GAGAN Receiver. Basically like a fire and forget system. Some of the drdo developed INS 1 Like
