EngrSaks: If its the naija issued international driving license, yes you can. Check all the insurance quote website and put in your details and see what comes up. Will be quite expensive though. |

Yes you can, you don't need the international driving licence, your regular Nigerian licence is adequate. You can use it for up to a year from your first arrival date to the UK. This is what I did when I initially moved here. Then I switched to full UK licence after about 6 months. Funny enough, my insurance was cheaper using my Nigerian licence, it increased by £100 after I switched to full UK. Admiral said it was because I have now become 'a new driver' mshewww thieves. I switched to Aviva shortly afterwards and paid about 40% less. EngrSaks: 1 Like 3 Shares |

That's strange. Did this happen recently? And was it over the phone or online? I'd suggest trying again when your insurance is due. I did mine online a while ago (over 2 yrs) with no issues, and I'm still with them. fatima04: 1 Like |

Experienced people, pls I have a question about Leave to Remain. My friends BRP has leave to remain on it. She has been in the country since 2016, then in 2018, she and her fiancé did spousal visa (common law I think). The BRP they gave her says “Leave to Remain” only. Does this mean that she can apply for her British passport before it expires? Also, Which LR is that? Further or Indefinite? (P.S: she’s Canadian) Thanks for your answers. |

Aphrodite007: Leave to remain is very different from indefinite leave to remain. LR is not settlement , has conditions and has a time frame but ILR is settlement(aka permanently residency) Also dont know exactly what she applied for but spouse " leave to remain" is 5years before it can be changed to ILR , and after ILR then passport 2 Likes |

LagosismyHome: If someone applies for a Tier2 Visa using a Permanent Job letter/offer is it LR they will be given please? I’ve always wondered since the job is not time bound. |
Re: Living In The Uk/life As A UK Immigrant by spacyzuma(m): 1:23pm On Nov 04, 2019 |
Mamatukwas: The job may not be time-bound, but the Tier 2 work visa is time-bound. The first Tier 2 visa is 3 years, and renewing it can be for 5 years or another 3 years. Tier 2 work visa is a LR 2 Likes 1 Share |
Re: Living In The Uk/life As A UK Immigrant by LagosismyHome(f): 1:28pm On Nov 04, 2019 |
Mamatukwas: I personally used HSMP path and not tier 2 so i cannot comment for sure , but i guess it will be similar. hsmp was first 2 years then 3 years then ILR . however the visa in tier 2 is tied to job so if someone loses it at anytime during the 5 years then comes trouble . There was a couple i knew in from a distance , 2 months left to 5 years was when he was made redundant and it came with so much trouble |

LagosismyHome: Ok.. now I understand. It’s the same with mine that is also 5 years but my BRP has spousal Leave To Enter.. not Leave to Remain. Thanks so much for explaining. She will wait 5 years till she gets her ILR then. 1 Like |
