Bros....there are peak and off peak periods in this business..,20-25k is Wickedness to the car owner Kwanu..... December is the ultimate peak period...buy 2k fuel make 20-25k due to surge

I hope you buy one someday

Lmaoo, I own one Hyundai Elantra 2008, and a baby boy (and they aren’t my first). So your prayers should be I should have more like Oga Gazzuzz. Though I’ll be selling them soon anyway.

And by peak period you are talking about the three weeks from mid December to January for a contract that will last months?! Oga, I was speaking from an owner and driver experience. You won’t fix cars as frequent, if your policy don’t make your driver swim in waters.

And drivers too should learn how where they live affects their earnings.. cos it does!

And I pray for you too, may you someday drive someone else’s car on the platform to have a better understanding of what is right to what is justified..

Amen

For good or bad car? And who handles the repairs

Oga Dru23, you are an elder in this thread sir!

If dashboard shows 70k earnings on Bolt (which is really good right)?

Commission is : 14000

And as owner you collect :30k

As some car mpg calculations done here: at least 10k (on some of the most fuel efficient cars, or depending on the trip to arrive at such).

And we didn’t calculate that most of those rides would have gone through Lekki toll : let’s say just 10 times to Lekki : 10 to and fro equals (4,000)

In total :

30k
14k
10k
5k.

That’s 59k sir . If car is in good condition and no much unforeseen circumstances.

And 11k for driving Lagos bad roads and traffic for a week, dealing with different attitude and keeeping calm still behind that wheel. The physical and psychological requirements for this job is not that price sir, person wey sabi go sabi.

Even if he was eating sand and drinking the wind...does 11k seem fair sir?!! No disrespect sir o!

Just giving my opinion..

And I stand to be corrected, on other facts!

You're a smart Person.
And most of the driver over-work them till dey sleep while driving. Might lead to accident or something else.
Y1nka:

The car owner ideology is :big fish swallow little ones. They try to enslave fellow mainland person into picking a used car and paying high weekly for rental. Imagine a man telling someone I referred to him to pay 32k weekly on the platform. And the worse part is that he also is a driver.

Now On the driver side, most of them are naive and ignorant, they hear the “make 60k weekly on Uber” and fall for it. So after getting into an agreement , they find out how bad they f***d up. And want to f**k up their bosses back... breach of agreement .

Gbas Gbo’s every where.

Like I always say.... the highest rental should be 25k weekly.

If someone still dey give u 100k a month on the platform with your car in good shape. It’s bether than 30-35k, with car written off, and fights after.

Not a bad analysis although there’s more to be made.

If you target 15k daily for 6 days, you should have 90k gross.

Any driver that knows what he/she is doing should have no trouble making 15k daily.

my profound gratitude to nitigriti

after I posted that I was looking for someone willing to do offline from airport to egbeda,he responded

nitigriti:

Very funny.
Saw this as I drove into Ikeja GRA. (My official car). I'm going to Gowon Estate, Egbeda.

I've parked somewhere in the GRA. You can come along with me to Egbeda. I will wait till 8:00pm for a mention.

This ride is on the house. It is absolutely free.

Make I dey sip Orijin.

I quoted him, sent my number to him and asked him to sms me so I cld call him back...he didn't, instead he called me shocked

the deal was to help ferry some ppl from the airport to dopemu, while I meet him up and pick those people.i told him the flight will land by 8:15

he agreed, told me he will do it for free, and at some point, asked me to send the address gangan instead on having to come meet him...ofcos I declined,as I felt he had done too much already

flight didnt land till around 8:30pm,and he couldn't even get to pick then up till around past 9....this man waited, patiently, while my people were delayed, called then with his phone to connect with them, and picked then up

not only that,he came all the way to shasha to drop them off, that was around past 10,and he didnt collect a dime shocked shocked

ahhh......even me,I no fit do am...I am not that nice

I just wanna use this medium to thank him publicly, even tho what he did was in private...I pray that he will see helpers in all spheres of his life...and that he will get countless favours from strangers

I mean,he doesn't know me, we have never said a word to each other on here and he still rendered a selfless service...despite not being an uber driver oh

I say make baba siddon make we do 1-1 for the road,he no gree....he reluctantly asked for "canned something" but they didnt av at the bar....I'm sure he was happy inside cos baba sha didnt want any form of gratitude apart from word of mouth

nitigriti........thank you so so so much

Lol, chairman sir, u don’t calculate base on luck, but rather on what can be achieved averagely by anyone , repeatedly. But thanks for the contribution though.

@oga nitigri , you are a real BOSS sir, Shasha is where my family home is, but sadly haven’t been there in a while. Which we could welcome u when coming next on a red carpet sir!

Well luck plays a factor tho but if you know wetin you dey do, it’s very achievable.

You need to know how to filter rides. No be everything you go jump on.

There’s hardly no way you’d be online for 12 hours and not hit that amount.

You can’t speak for everyone, that’s why I said ‘if you know what you doing’.

12k fuel to make 70k? Bros may be na electric car. The average fuel that could deliver that sort of return can't be less than 20k.

Whoa... I was just being generous. That's why I said minimal. Maybe you get an offline where you have to wait without burning fuel.

I got one since on Wednesday. Offline 4hrs! The guy go just stop for him office and ask me to wait. I go wait (8-12pm). He will ask I take him to his wife office in Marina (Another wait) till we will finally move.

Exactly bro,
I internationally did that maths of what to expect at most, just Incase someone wants to start with the mpg & Tokunbo car explanation.
And I didn’t add other miscellaneous like food, blowing empty fuel on canceled order, customers taking some change, police bribe nonsense, local government touts and all that.

My math was even based on a good week and he still goes home with 11k. Just imagine how a bad one would feel?!

And for those who mention grossing 15k daily, still minus fuel and toll. The difference still won’t be much due to high commission from both Uber/bolt and car owner..

My point is : things have changed, please review and balance rental charge , so your car could be in good shape, and drivers won’t give you stories...... at least till further notice from the platform

Me I stopped expending energy on the argument but you guys need to take a look in the mirror for real. You accuse anyone opposing your view of being narrow minded etc but have You put yourselves in riders shoes too?

I listened to you guys and responded with facts to your side. Facts turned to emotional arguments. Then I shared with you the plight of a rider to which the response was GTFO.

You say you are running a business as a boss. Then maybe you should be receptive to constructive criticism from your customers. I have no dog in the fight as I've told you I don't use Uber in Nigeria. Any contributions here by me were strictly because i thought most of the dialogue was not constructive. After jumping in, it's easy to see why.

If any of you have followed me on NL you will see I regularly ask for constructive criticism and even post when we May not have been at our best. Just a thought.

We are Nigerians na. We have been doing it for twenty years and we know everything. We have no need to self improve.

In the end this is a microcosm if Nigeria. These fellows are no different from the lecturers they will pillory in other threads. Misguided ego, rigid , unwilling to try anything new, content to take any excuse to steal from the system.
