hancock:

Does the GK series mix grid and solar power together? the MK series does this flawlessly.
Simply put, if grid line (PHCN) is present and the solar panels are active during the day, the MK series inverter will draw power from both sources thereby reducing your PHCN bills
For most other inverters, and CC, they cut-off the PV to 0W production when the batteries are fully charged and grid line is present.
Imagine your batteries fully charged at 11am in the morning with grid line present and the sun is still hitting hard , all that goes to waste.

I believe it should do this because the option is there on the settings, but I have not gotten to test that out since we've not had grid supply in my area since I bought the inverter (which is over 6 months now) sad

Thanks a lot Sir. I will opt for the GK.

One more con of GK is that due to its high Voc (which is a Pro) it means you need to wire lots of panel in series and that means that all the panels must clear sight on sunshine. So you may factor that in, because if one of the panels does not Hervest good sunshine it will affect all the strings. All the best as you make your choice

Hello house what is your assessment on a Proton 15kva inverter. Any one using proton ?.

what of solar harvest logs, does it store it?

another question,,, in battery less mode, what happens if you connect it to a a load bigger than the solar harvest?

It does store cumulative for day, month and year. It does not for instance give the Hervest for yesterday.

I have not tried the batteryless feature before since I have battery and since am still using 6 250w panels and have not yet gotten to 230Voc. However I sure expect that it will trip off if it receives more load than it generates, that's pretty straightforward.

ok, guess similar storage style as the itracer epsolar, it can only show you the total harvest for the day...if you check on or before 11.59pm of tat day..once the day has ended...it will overwrite and start logging for the next day.

@battreyless mode, tha means there would be frequent strating and stopping of loads...unless the sizing was done properly, assume i have a 2.5kw array...and i assume 1.5kw avg harvest, and put a 1kw load on it, so the load may likely be tripping on and off, during periods of cloud cover...etc
kind of hoped, they would have some sort of capacitor or some sort to act as a dampener.
.
am thinking of using it to power a borehole pump , and am trying to anticipate issues, i may encounter....surge loads is my problem, mand oversizing the array to cater for the surge load as the sumo starts is my concern........hope u get my drift.

or lemme break it down. i install a 1hp pump with a 2kw array,....if the surge rating issue is factored in..it implies i have to install upto a 6kw/8kw arraw, b4 the pump would be able to start

Yes indeed that's correct, I know the fanguspan does daily logs and I wish my GK does that. I will be doing an external logging with my Pi3

I get your point, I must note that am not a guru in this stuff like folks like you but I read somewhere in the manual where it was indicated that my 3kw could surge up to 6kw. Now I don't know if that also puts the panel wattage Hervest into consideration.

Gurus in da house.

Okay, there is this 12v 1000w MSW 20amp solar hybrid inverter that started acting up. I have had this inverter on intermittent operation for the past two years, cumulative of about 3 months total. It was always used with lead acid batteries For the first time, I plugged it into a DIY 12v Li-ion battery pack and I used it with appliances for about one and a half hours before retiring to bed, at which point I switched off the inverter, the appliances still plugged in.

5 am, I heard beeps coming from the living room and got there to find the fault light of the inverter on and the fan blowing like mad! This inverter is not switched on o!

Okay, I tried to switch it on and off maybe that will correct the anomaly, but it does not even output power anymore. I disconnected the battery and reconnected again, but the moment I reconnect it, the beep starts, the fault light comes on and the fan again starts blowing.

The load I placed on the 1000 continuous power inverter wasn't even up to 60 Watts. The fan does not come on until about 150 Watts load. Please anyone with any idea?

Thanks.

Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by Andreda1st: 8:09pm On Nov 03, 2019
Please I just saw this on jumia and got interested due to the internal mppt charge controller it has. Although I only plan on buying an inverter and two batteries for now so charging the batteries will be through power grid and maybe generator for now but later in the future, I plan on adding solar panels as well.
Just want to confirm before placing my order, if the brand is good and at that price considering the capacity and features of the inverter?

i think the 25amp mppt controller it comes with is too small for a 24V system!

Really!!! Do you know if I can get something similar with a higher mppt charge controller at that price?

Search for Thundervolt on Jumia or Konga. There 24v, 1.5kva comes with a 30amp Fangpusun MPPT charge controller (110k) which is one I am currently using. The 120k version, is also a 24v, 1.5kva that comes with 50amp MPPT charge controller

Thanks. Just checked it out now the specs is actually okay but the shipping fee is actually on the high side and from the few things I've bought on Aliexpress, I still have to pay to collect my package at the post office when it arrives. Is there a way I can get it but at a lower shipping fee?

Yeah, a bit steep, though the cummulative price is about 200k or so..not that badt for the combo and listed specs.
I contacted them, and they offered a 40 or 50 usd discount on shipping, though i gotta pay through paypal.
I didnt folo tru..

2ndly the postoffice issh is small money 500 or 1k....
Unless u r unlucky..and they ship tru dhl, where u may be asked to pay custom duty.
Hv paid 6400 for 2units cc b4, as custom duty.
Grand total was still cheaper than inhouse prices
