Lol was the environment not there before buhari came in

Before 2016 there was a 5% duty on aircraft, another 5% on spare parts, together with infrastructure and landing costs plus a surcharge. With the removal of these taxes airlines have more headroom for financial planning. On the contrary the Government levied a luxury tax on private jets and restored landing charge fees to many PJ owned by private and religious interests.

Let's give credit where credit is due.

Can we just chill and for once, have clear thought that is devoid of palpable hatred. Let give credit to whom it is due and when it's deserved. A lot of comments here reeks of insidious and unrepentant hatred. Many hate talkers/marketers would have gnashed their iron teeth on this thread had the news been " air peace closed down due to unfavourable business policies".

You mixed it up the government of Buhari removed the 5% VAT charged for each passenger an airline ferries. In addition the government of Buhari also waved off customs duty on all aircrafts and aircraft spares which has made it possible for the airlines to do more. The airlines are now asking for better airport infrastructure and renegotiation of the BASA agreements Nigeria has signed with other countries , availability of jet fuel and reciprocal airport charges amongst countries . They never got any of these under the PDP government

Is this the same Boeing 737 max that was grounded by a lot of countries due to it MCAS system that causes the plane to nose dive leading to crash?
That plane has caused major plane crashes this year alone. The LionAir and Ethiopian air plane crashes .

If it's the same B737max that these guys are bringing to Nigeria then I'm afraid this could be a disaster waiting to happen.

Seems there's some worrying news about this plane

The plane is bad news! They should return the plane and demand for a refund immediately!!!
How can you be into aviation and not know the B737 max and it's many problems!!??

planes that have been flying since 1994, they are calling the "new" generation....bwaaaaaaah!
btw these planes (Boeing 737-800) were called the "next" generation since the mid 90s , thus there is nothing "new" about them today in 2019. the 737-900 ER and the 737 Max (RIP) are the upgraded version of the above plane.... duh!

Thanks for this clarification. So what they ordered for wasn't the max but the earlier generation of the Max.

Anambralstson:
Nigeria's leading carrier, Air Peace, has brought in a B737-800NG to help sustain its expansion, domestic and regional operations. The aircraft arrived the Murtala Mohammed International Airport at about 20.00hrs yesterday (Thursday) from Europe.

Disclosing this to newsmen yesterday, a Corporate Communications Executive of the airline, Mr. Stanley Olisa, stated that the new arrival is a 160 seater aircraft comprising 16 Business Class seats and 144 economy class seats. He said, "We are very glad to announce the acquisition of another aircraft, which is a 160-seater B737-800 New Generation aircraft".

He reiterated the resolve of the airline to spread its operations across the length and breadth of this country to ease the burden of travel within the country and the West African sub region.

Air Peace, West and Central Africa's largest airline, last year became the first airline in sub Saharan Africa to place a firm order for 10 B737 Max. The airline earlier this year made an order for 20 brand new 124 seater E195-E2 jets from Embraer thereby making history as the launch customer of this new aircraft in the entire Africa.

It would be recalled that Air Peace, 2017, became the first airline to acquire and register a Boeing 777 in Nigeria. It had gone on to acquire more three 777s for its international operations which it kick started on July 5, 2019, with flight operations to Dubai through the Sharjah International Airport. The airline is poised to take, very soon, on more international routes like, London, Houston, Johannesburg, Bombay, Guangzhou, etc.

The airline thanked Mr. President for creating the enabling aviation environment that made it possible for the airline to achieve this feat within a very short time of its existence. Mr. Olisa disclosed this when he said, "our Chairman, Mr. Allen Onyema, is eternally grateful to President Buhari for making it possible for Air Peace to become what she is within the four years of President Buhari's regime through the zero tax regime on imported commercial aircraft and aircraft spares introduced by his administration".

Woah . Hold your horses and reread carefully, The dates are important . My contribution fully factors in PMB efforts as against 16 years of PDP waste in the Airline industry.

Thanks for this clarification. So what they ordered for wasn't the max but the earlier generation of the Max.

exactly....
1st there was the original Boeing 737s (aka 737-100 and 737-200) who were launched in the late 1960s.
2nd came the Boeing 737 CLASSIC (aka 737-300,737-400 and 737-500) launched from the early 1980s.
3rd came the Boeing 737 NEXT GENERATION (aka 737-600, 737-700, 737-800 and 737-900) launched in the 1990s (aka the above bought).
then finally came the Boeing 737 MAX launched 2016. the 737 Max 7, 737 Max 8 and the 737 Max 9 are simply the upgraded/better version of the 737-700, 737-800, 737-900...

737-900 is not an upgraded version, its a version of the NG series and were/are manufactured simultaneously with the -700 and -800 it carries more passengers but the engines and system are the same with the -900 lagging behind in range between the MAX is not dead, test flights would commence once the FAA clears the new software upgrade and this test flights would start as soon mid-December 2019, Southwest (the biggest operator) plans to roster them for passenger service late January to early February. The Air Peace -800 (CS-TQU) is on a wet-lease from Euro Atlantic and was previously operated on the same wet-lease basis by Medview Airline another Nigerian Carrier.

ok...but as Boeing "now" also have safety issues with the 737 New Generation planes...i guess buying the above planes was an unsafe decision.
it has been reported that cracks on the pickle fork have been found on 5% of checks made on 737NG planes too.... and they are now grounding "some" 737NG planes.
