Only LEGENDS know that this border closure is political.. The plan is to limit the flow of rice into the country and help DANGOTE(who suddenly went into rice production) to boost and gain market for his business..

But what do I know?? grin
..in another way, it is not political ...is dangote not a Nigerian ? is the factory not in Nigeria ? employing the youths.... that's it.. local production is the best... if you choose to own a rice factory tomorrow, government will not stop you

depends on the brand, I ate one local rice yesterday and I almost lost all my teeth, it was like they bagged the rice intentionally with stones just to supplement the weight, I was so bittered that I was second guessing if the border closure was worth it after all at least until they get a de-stoning machine they should open that border, I can’t loose all my teeth, that rice wasn’t cheap my Grammy bought a whole bag of that stone riddled rice, I couldn’t leave the food cause she’s going feel bad, next time I visit her its a big No to rice

there are different brands of local rice in Nigeria, so which exactly have you been eating? The so called foreign rice y'all are hyping, many are repackaged Nigerian rice. For everybody's sake, that border should remain closed!

I ate a local rice yesterday and thought it was foreign rice. I don't remember the name though, I might check it when next I enter the kitchen. I no longer fear local rice, what a relief.

why won't rice be smuggled in when it's 9,000 across the border and 20,000 at home?

LOL, you people keep encouraging tyranny.
Ban the consumption of rice and place death sentence on anyone eating it?

Nnemuka:
Buhari should just ban the eating of rice in Nigeria
That way anybody caught selling Rice will be sentenced to death.
Nigeria needs to work and rice smugglers are the reason our dear country is in a mess.
say no to rice consumption
so no to smugglers

Useless country

Things are getting Kore expensive. 12.5kg of gas I filled 2 weeks ago, on Thurs, for 3200 was 3700 when I checked last Thurs again, exactly a week after. I don't know the price now.

That's why you see people smuggling, all these things are pricy in the market, local rice is expensive and you think someone that travels to neighbouring country and sees a foreign rice at far cheaper price won't nurture the thought of smuggling it?

All these Buhari policies need be properly checked B4 implementing. What in the world do u stop importation of foreign rice without first making adequate substitution. If our local rice is good and cheap, no one will force anyone to go for it....

It can never be good and cheap for as long as others have been making billions of dollars from selling it in your environment, not until you provide obstruction.
