I was ready to give Ghana the benefit of dubt until I saw Kumasi and Accra. Yes on face value - Ghana does look good - progressive middle class country - but why isn't the middle class manifesting itself. If you go to South Africa - you don't need stats - to say - this is a middle class country. If you go to Namibia - you don't need to have been even to school to know they are doing good - same with Botswana. vaxx2: 2 Likes |

Dude, stop acting like lying typical Nigeria. We expect so much better from Ghanians. It easy. Find us PWC report. And I didn't need to check PWC - I know even Mombasa alone has more branded hotels than Nigeria... https://www.pwc.co.za/en/assets/pdf/hotels-outlook-19-2023.pdf Jump to page 54 - 2018 is 20,100 hotels - the rest are projected based on branded hotels under pipelines or under construction. rvp2018:it was never 18K in 2015 the 18K was a projection base on the expectation that it will double. in 2015, it was almost 7,000 it is expected to reach 10,000 in 2023 https://www.pwc.co.za/en/publications/hospitality-outlook.html |

Kenya branded hotels - about twice what you have in Nigeria. I think about half what is in South Africa. From your favourite PwC. Now let clutch on another straw before we facts drown you 2 Likes 1 Share

rvp2018:I said development is not what you observed thru screen but on data and information. that is the objective. for example, Ghana currently enrol 1.2 million of her citizens on free education , free feeding , free boarding on his national pulse. how should I describe that in video or picture? Ghana currently registered 100 percent of her citizens on free health care delivery. how do I put it in video or pics? in Ghana over 85 percent of her citizens have access to water and nearly 90 percent of Ghanaian are connected to national grid . how is that explainable thru video or pics .... there are thing you can just see with your naked eyes unless you experience it. social development is the key anyway 3 Likes |

All that reflect in STANDARD OF LIVING and QUALITY OF LIFE. You don't need my bank account to know I am doing badly or well. Informal sector for example is clearly manifestation of under-development. As people get richer, they drive cars, shop in supermarkets, dine in branded hotels, fly for vacations, send their kids to good schools and buy luxury goods. vaxx2: 1 Like |

It's intriguing enough. What is not deniable is they are doing well in natural resources - oil plus minning. Outside those sectors I am starting to have my doubts. kikuyu1: 1 Like |

Cement figures you gave me are not authoritative. They come from similar websites like the one that said cement consumption was 5.2M tonnes. 10M seem highly unlikely. Entire Dangote Cement last year(2018) sold 8.9m in all it's market outside Nigeria- Ghana, Ethiopia, Tanzania. http://www.dangotecement.com/wp-content/uploads/reports/2019/FY2018/DangoteCement_FY2018_ResultsStatement.pdf Just30: 1 Like |

Kazikazi:and i have given you proof that it outperforms what you have in Tanzania. I just cant imagine how a country with twice the population of Ghana is outperformed in real estate demands by Ghana. That small Dar Es Sallam area you keep posting makes you think you are developed. Ghana has gone far beyond that. These days in Ghana, there are villages that you can hardly call villages 2 Likes 1 Share |

rvp2018:You should doubt.Kumasi and Accra don't look like cities from middle income country.I can't mention Tokoradi or tamale.A country like Zambia, has better cities than what u see in Kumasi. I think Ghana gov is overrating their economic numbers |
Re: Kenya Is Ahead of Nigeria In All Aspect (Facts Don't Lie) by rvp2018: 2:06pm On Nov 12, 2019 |
Okay I think Dangote has the figure. From his group 2018 results. http://www.dangotecement.com/wp-content/uploads/reports/2019/FY2018/DangoteCement_FY2018_ResultsStatement.pdf Ghana With per-capita consumption of about 213kg/person and total demand of more than 6Mt in 2018, Ghana is an attractive market for cement in West Africa. Its economy is strong and this is driving housing and infrastructure growth across the country. |

rvp2018:Actually you are wrong..... Often “informal” businesses are highly skilled and professional. Go check the trend in China and India. how informal sector is growing. The only differencei from formal sector is that they do their business outside goverment influence which means that they do not comply with regulatory requirements of which tax compliance is the most important one. which also means that they are often more profitable that their more formal counterparts. in Nigeria/ Ghana informal sector buisness owmer are the big boys . that is why you can used our minimum wage to judge our standard of living. 1 Like 1 Share |

How does hotel in pipeline help your case. Nigeria has had good growth (20% CAR) in branded hotels - while Kenya is doing around 10% CAR - but Nigeria basically is being from a very small base. I think Mombasa alone has more branded hotels than entire Nigeria. 68816419: 2 Likes 1 Share |

I find that hard to believe. I think as country become rich - it starts looking rich - organized - formal. Officially Ghana gdp per capita is about 3000 - just a few dollars to join middle class nation - and it doesn't look the part. Opps I think GDP per capita is 2000 or around - well no need to sweat it. That is about right. vaxx2: |

Just30:No proof given. Most African governments are cheating their figures. You can't say Dar es salaam is small. If u want comparisons, u are welcome. But no gov figures, just bring pics or videos for proof. I can't accept the lies of a country with huge middle class but there are no real estate owned by same middle class. I don't know what u have done ahead of Dar. Do u have skyscrapers more than Dar?More residential homes than Dar? Better hospitals than those in Dar?Better hotels? Better marine transportation than Dar? Better golf courses? Better public transport? 1 Like 1 Share |
