The competition will be between oshimeh and marshal. Rashford plays better from the flanks
TheGoodJoe:

If Manchester United signs Osimhen, I can guarantee he will not get regular playing time over Rashford. That is how the English think.

By the way, I feel Haaland is a class above Osimhen. Time will tell.

Yes he does because l have called him a BLATANT ATTENTION SEEKING SHAMELESS LIAR.

And if you want to jump on his bus do it with substance not with your opinion.

l look at specifics the diction and the context in which it used to get clarity of meaning. I don't use perception. You have vividly remember wrongly.

There are two aspects ; First, Where it is alleged l called him some special talent and implied l wanted him in the SE.

Secondly, where it is alleged once again completely falsely l said Solanke is miles better than KC.

On this thread not one person has been able to substantiate thier self birthed nonsensical false presumptions.

You think those Man Utd folks will care where suits Rashford? They will not find seeing a Nigerian/African grabbing the headlines regularly. Manchester United should not even get considered in any way.

If you follow united and Rashford closely you will notice that the English man is unplayable when deployed wide, even united's coaches know this fact.

It's not about sentiment but what brings in the desired results. United re in dire need of quality and won't bench a striker who will guareentee the team atleast 15 goals a season because of mere sentiment

Gernot Rohr enjoyed the biggest scoring road win of his time as Nigeria coach as the Super Eagles came from a goal down to beat Lesotho 4-2 in their 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier in Maseru on Sunday.

It all came on the back of some sexy frontline chemistry.

Victor Osimhen was the standout player, contributing to all four of the goals as the Eagles negotiated difficult conditions to emerge victorious and open up a two-point lead at the top of the qualifying standings.

What was there to unpack from the game? Lots. Osimhen will dominate the headlines, and deservedly so, for what is possibly a seminal performance for him as an international. And that performance deserves a standalone look.

Here we go, then.

OSIMHEN’S BREAKOUT GAME

Could this be the day that Victor Osimhen finally announces himself to Africa? Perhaps. Nigerians have always known that the youngster possesses bags of talent. His time at Wolfsburg shaped him, Charleroi prepared him and now Lille have given him the Champions League stage express himslef.

In doing that, Osimhen has stepped in excellently to fill the big shoes left by Odion Ighalo. And, this could be heresy now but is entirely within the realms of possibility.

Osimhen has the talent to be one of Nigeria’s greatest ever strikers. He has speed, he has finishing and he has the close control to conjure up magic in the box.

He has two assists on the night, but in truth that should have been at least four. He could have also had a hat trick but for a superb goalkeeping effort.

One could say that this the game that Osimhen finally breaks out as a Super Eagles striker, but that might not be true. He can actually get better. And that should be a scary thought for the rest of the continent.

EAGLES BUILDING CHARACTER

There are different ways that teams react to going behind. Either panic and try to get back in it immediately, opening up to a sucker punch, or staying calm, sticking to the game plan and earning the result.

Nigeria already had enough adversity going into the game. They arrived only on the eve of the match, in order to counter the effects of the altitude, and then had to play on artificial turf, something most players detest. Then of course, there was the partisan crowd cheering on the hosts.

And so when they went behind on 12 minutes, it would have been almost understandable if the Super Eagles had gone for option, try to force things and then leave themselves open to that sucker punch. They did not.

Instead, they stayed calm, they stayed patient and they stuck to the game plan.

SEXY FRONTLINE CHEMISTRY

It may be only Lesotho, but the chemistry between Osimhen, Chukwueze and Alex Iwobi was supremely satisfying to watch.

Each seemed to know where the other was and their constant combination plays with each other left proved to be a constant source of trouble for the Lesotho defense. It was only a matter of time until they combined for a goal.

And when they did, it was loin-stirring chemistry in motion.

But to be fair, the glue that keeps it working in perfect sync is Osimhen. His skill, vision, determination to keep the play going going and positional awareness, not to mention his unselfish attitude is what makes it all look so easy on the eye. For a striker, that is an amazing compliment.

The ball to set up Iwobi came from his never say die spirit to continue to chase after what looked a lost cause.

And his assist for Chuwkueze’s goal was mouthwatering action attraction at its best. The forward, who by then was being double-teamed, peeled away from his markers to receive a punt from Chidozie Awaziem, giving himself time and space to control it with one touch, then heft it into the path of Chukwueze with the second.

The Villareal man, who had seen his teammate receive the ball, was already making the run in behind before Osimhen had finished his first touch and when the ball came to him, he had the awareness to take a leap and head past the advancing goalkeeper.

This is the stuff of dreams.

That combination - which started at the under 17 level - is one to look forward to in the future. Adding Iwobi to the mix, just makes it heavenly. Now imagine Ebere Obi providing an additional body there. My oh my. . .

AINA DESERVES CREDIT

When he was dropped from the 2018 World Cup squad, Ola Aina was devastated. But Rohr assured him he would be back. And how he has stormed back. The former Chelsea man continues to show his versatility either side of defence, be it right back or left back. And once again, he was imperious, as he stepped in for Jamilu Collins, who has looked a shade off kilter the last couple of games.

Aina is a coach’s dream. Apart from being able to slot in at either right or left back, he can also play as a midfielder, giving the coach plenty of options in one body.

His performance has already put regular right back Shehu Abdullahi on notice, Chidozie Awaziem is a centreback deployed at emergency right back. And now, Collins may have to step up his game significantly if he wants to win this and take ownership of that spot for good.

pls can u explain what happened between him and valbuena exactly, never heard the story, I just know he doesn't get France call up any longer
Valbuena had a sextape that somehow got in the hands of some dude who Benzema happens to know.
Benzema informed Valbuena of it and tried to play "middle man" but apparently it seemed like Benzema was working with the guy to blackmail him.
Benz got suspended, courts cleared him but he insulted Deschamps and said he was racist or something...so FFF said he'd never play for French National team again.

The question is "would Osimhen's attacking instincts as a striker be honed under Jose"?

I'm sure that was the only instance you could mention (Cameroon match), which can happen once in a while. Even the best defenders gets turned once in a while

Collins on the other hand gets turned on the regular by even the most average of wingers. Against Brazil , I just dey shame on behalf of the guy. At a point, the Brazilian team noticed that he's the weak point and Firmino and Gabriel Jesus started making use of his wings. Even a makeshift Awaziem doesn't get turned on a regular like Collins. Nigga is pathetic.

How do you know he was turned

That's a self birthed very misleading opinion without any substance whatsoever.

Stephane the Cameroon no.9 scored the first goal poor defending and positioning by Omeruo from the Cameroon cross.

Second goal was long ball from Cameroon which should have been routine defending by Omeruo but he got bullied by yes Stephane and missed a very routine clearing header.

That error left Aina who was slightly ahead of Clinton but wrong sided in a position of disadvantage as he tried to correct the error by Omeruo.

People will tell blatant lies here not sure why, l would advise dont believe everything you are told here.

what do you mean by that? jose love strikers that have good work rate, big, fast, aggressive and clinical in from of goal and oshimeh possess this qualities.

jose go for serious minded players with no nonsense approach to games which are the reasons i am convinced that he will appreciate having oshimeh and ndidi in his team.

oshimeh has the same attributes with strikers the Portuguese gaffer have had in the past, the likes of zlatan, eto, milito, lukaku, drogba and costa hwere unplayable in jose's teams

you lie, bayern will feature him in games consistently if he proves himself in the team. they are searching for a worthy replacement for their aging polish hit man but are yet to be linked with oshimeh. it seem they are going for leipzig's timo werner.

the only team linked with oshimeh currently is newcastle united

I agree with your second paragraph ofcourse.

England only deal with players in form. So if he gets better, he will get into the squad again.

This is the reality of England.

If you are not on form you loose your position, Quarrel no deh.

Unfortunately that's not the position of the NFF.
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by charlesemeka85(m): 11:54pm On Nov 18, 2019
that happened when rohr wasnt in charge. since rohr came in he has made it known to his players that getting games and performing well in their clubs is the only way they can make his team regularly.

i never knew that a player like olayinka will ever have a chance in the current eagles set up but his display in the ucl this season made a case for him. i said this few days ago and will repeat that why i prefare european coaches to our local coaches is not because that they are better tactically but go for the best legs who will get the desired results needed without sentiments or favoritism

Yes I get you and I am not saying that Osimhen won't be needed by Jose but Jose is too defensive minded and for now, we here agree that Osimhen should improve more as an attacker

Bros, as long as Lewandowski is on top form, Osimhen would be limited to cup matches and a few league starts...no matter his form.

That's the situation with KC and Vardy (who is also aging but is currently red hot)

The proposition remains alive and totally apt.

"It's better to be a Lion in a lower league and club than an anonymous mouse in a top club and league"

If a player is playing in a moi moi league then he should absolutely blow the league away. He should be the outstanding consistent top player in that league.

That position is more pronounced if they have come from a higher league. Consider Osimhen was an anonymous mouse at Wolfsburg goes to lower league in Belguim and blows the league away. Quite rightly so he is now killing it at Lille that's progression.

As always everything in context.

You cannot compare scoring a hat trick against Barcelona to one against say Spartak Subotica.

But back to Omar is he the top goal scorer let's not be too optimistic. Is he in the top 3 ❓ Or is he got the most assists. ❓ Is he a Lion in that league.

Now let's look at Eberechi Eze the screen shot days it all. He is the LION of the Championship that says very emphatically he is ready for the EPL.

Football is crazy a few years ago Eze was released from Millwall a carpenter football club as not good enough.

I see what u are trying to do..

U wanna raise the bar higher for Umar, isn't it.? He is currently the 5th joint top scorer in the Serbian league with 7 goals and 8 assists!!

He even ranks the English league 1 on par with the Serbian league... Red star Belgrade beat Liverpool last year o..

Manchester United got rolled over by MK Dons 4-0 in 2014 in the FA cup.

Newport County league one club beat Leicester City also in the FA cup.

Does it mean these clubs from lower division are now better? According to you yes.

By the way Liverpool flogged them back to thier level 4-0.

Serbian league is rated about 20 places below the EPL. That makes it considerably lower than the Championship by rational projection.

How much does the league generate and how much is the most expensive players in the league and what the get paid

Compare your findings with the English league one. Better Players generally follow the money.

Rethink your misguided assumptions.

U see that Comoros team, give them a below average team from Europe like Lithuania, Kosovo and Albania and they will be well beaten..

only one important match which he didn't start. the match against south africa was played in june at the tale end of the bundesliga season when osimhen was getting back from injury. he was involved in the last games of the season for wolfsburg so saying he had no game time before the south africa match is false. when he then couldn't stake a claim in his club the following season he was then logically not called up

sorry etoo wasn't exceptional then. 3 goals in 23 games in the spanish second division and get taken straight to world cup. walcott that was signed by arsenal in january of 2006 and didn't kick a single ball in anger before being taken to the world cup? i hear you

Osimhen didn't kick a ball in professional football before he was called to the National team against Tanzania. Whereas, Eto and Walcott already did before they were called to the National team. So, don't compare.

Osimhen only played two matches in the Bundesliga before he was called the second time. He played against Togo in a friendly before he later played against South Africa.

Osimhen never deserved to be called as at that time because he did nothing to deserve it after just two games all seasons.

You think goals is what makes some players exceptional? Eto's performance earned him a loan from La Liga 2 to a La Liga team. African for that matter. Maybe you were not aware.

What did Osimhen do then? Absolutely nothing. EOD
