I don’t know. I was just curious to know if there is another city that I am overlooking. But don’t worry about it. Thanks for the Nice pictures. |

It's the fun place to beat right now.... This one here may be from an indigene or the same investor, who knows... The one in Lagos in on a 4-floor building, holding variety of cinemas, lounge, clubs, game house, art works, shopping mall, eatery, restaurants,bars,offices.... And so many other biz's... Infact it's a world of it's own and on it's own level.... If that investor is thinking of replicating same in Owerri , then it will definitely be a game changer!!! ... . 3 Likes |

horsepower101: Nah far from it bro, This country is too blessed ,if only leaders and subjects can act and do right. Some quick facts, According to jumia hospitality report, The hospitality industry is a major key driver of the growth in African economy accounting for about 8.5% of her GDP in 2018, equivalent to $ 194.2 billion, that is up from $110 billion of 7.1% of total GDP in 2017, That makes Africa second fastest growing hospitality region with 5.6% after Asia pacific, Southern Africa,East Africa, got a huge chunk, Nigeria still holds her own in westAfrica, but considering a market of 200million, surely Lagos and abuja can't serve the needs of everyone,so this presents vast opportunities for other cities to fill in the gap. Aviation sector, goes hand in hand with tourism, glad azman air is adding to the mix in SMICA, Travelers contribute immensely to international expenditure, business minded governments are taking African continental free trade area -ACFTA implementation seriously, surely our borders ain't gonna be closed forever, this intermittent isolation in a way, helps indegenious players to come up to speed ,to be in pole position to compete without foot dragging within the regions, and continental sphere. Like the FG relaxed the single African aviation market, to help arik, air peace come up to speed, Security, affordability, and infrastructure aids the ease of travel, Variety they say,is the spice of life, when travelers have all modes of transportation in the mix,it makes for more fun,be it via air, waterways, road, rail. ICT sector, also comes into play, many online booking/pay platforms are making a kill, tecprenuers can turn the city of owerri into their eastern hub. Photography is paying of lately, with high definition cameras and digital drones, Real estate boom is getting spurred, with the growth of hospitality, some dude with good architectural/ structural designed homes, can equally convert such edifice for sight seeing, check out that Emenike's House, People never appreciate the tremendous effect on the economy,as much as the civil service,is important getting it over bloated, gonna weigh down the pause of the state ,hence this is a sure way for diversification, Painters, mesons, carpenters, metal workers, artisans, plumbers, drillers, excavators, architects, electricians, moulders, screeders, surveyors, cleaners, welders, mechanics, chauffers, guards, the list is endless Catering/food- Travelers love good food, those with good culinary skills are making a kill, agroprenuers can take advantage of the consumption market the state got to offer, value chain addition from all kinds of produce can be the focus, lord knows how much of poultry foods-chicken,fishery,beef,rice,beverages,cereals,tubers,vegetables, fruits, etc are being consumed daily in IMO state. There lies huge opportunities,if support can be gotten from government,so private investors can come,CBN is offering anchor borrowers program, boi, afdb ,boa, dfid, ifo, and the likes. Imagine having hundreds,of medium scale processors of value chain addition in the AGR I sector, with government setting sail a bottom top approach ,with cassava converted to cakes, chips, fries, and other confectioneries. Fashion/design- owerri fast becoming an apparel epicenter for fashionisters, Entertainment- nollywood, comic industry, musicians, can't tell their history without a mention of this state, the clubs, etc Conferencing/ events-lord knows the number of event centers in this state is highly commendable, with all shades of different tastes, So on no account should IMO state and her government let down their guards,if they slack ,many cities gonna knock them off, within a twinkle of an eye,as much as they intend expanding other frontiers of the economy, they gotta hold on tight onto thier major forte, The rolling hills of okigwe is still there, yearning for exploits to reach its potentials, If IMO wants to accelerate her development she must keep to the implementation of her state wide transportation master plan of dualizing all the major arteries of road network linking up to connect owerri, Owerri is at the epicenter of igboland and old Eastern region,if this interconnectivity with dualization of road infrastructure can be achieved cutting across owerri- portharcourt,owerri-Onitsha,owerri-aba roads and beyond ,then she is set sail for robust unprecedented fast pace of development. Matter of fact, I think IMO state is ripe enough to her her own business school ,an institution where she gonna lay emphasis on hospitality, This time it could be located elsewhere, preferably in orlu zone, within the confines of oguta/ohaji . 6 Likes |

Abagworo: I think i saw pics of it few months back. It looks good, but i was thinking of something on a much grander scale....at least a 4-star hotel! This would include amenities for lots of water sporting to take full advantage of the lake. There should also be a smooth and direct transportation link with Owerri...would have preferred a rail link, but a highway could suffice for the time being. 2 Likes |

Anambra is a different monolithic state, let that stick ok Imo state is the poorest and most useless state in SE. The economy of just Nnewi is bigger than that of Imo state. Number of banks in Nnewi alone not to talk of Awka or Onitsha, are by far bigger than the ones in the whole of Imo state IGR of just Ekwulobia and Ihiala is by far larger than that of the whole Imo state. Forget the fake report okoroawusa was dishing out then. Imo airport is a typical motor park , which means Imo state is yet to have an airport. Anambra is building real airport for SE region. In education Anambra leads Imo state in all the external and internal exams and all the international academic competitions. The cities of Awka and Onitsha are by far more beautiful and more developed than your dirty and dilapidated Owerri that is struggling position with ABA. Even in the next 1000yrs Imo state will not be able to produce the likes of Zik, Achebe, Ojukwu, Ekwueme, Soludo, Chimamanda etc. Anambra leads Imo state in all positive endeavors, be it health, industrialisation, commerce, education, infrastructure, agriculture, etc. The only place Imo leads Anambra is commercial sex hawking and brothels. There are millions of Imolites resident in Anambra, but there is no single Anambran resident anywhere near Imo state. Think about it. Imo state is a cursed backward state . Let's face the fact for once. [s] marshman293:[/s] 1 Like |

Always quote me if you no dey fear. Imo state is the poorest and most useless state in SE. The economy of just Nnewi is bigger than that of Imo state. Number of banks in Nnewi alone not to talk of Awka or Onitsha, are by far bigger than the ones in the whole of Imo state IGR of just Ekwulobia and Ihiala is by far larger than that of whole Imo state. Forget the fake report okoroawusa was dishing out then. Like I said before, Imo airport is a typical motor park , which means Imo state is yet to have an airport. Anambra is building real airport for SE region. The real SE international airport is the one ongoing in Anambra. In education Anambra leads Imo state in all the external and internal exams and all the international academic competitions. With all the noise, Owerri is still competing with Aba in bad roads and filth. All the town in Imo state are ravaged with bad roads, erosion and gullies. Imolites are naturally prostitutes, armed robbers, kidnapped etc. Ritual killings started in Imo state- OTOKOTO. The only place Imo leads Anambra is commercial sex hawking and brothels. In Imo state civil servants were owed for 2yrs , pensioners are owed for over 5yrs and till now it has not been paid. Go to Onitsha, half of the population are Imolites that migrated from your cursed Imo state where things are not working. Have you seen anyone from Anambra living in Imo state? NO. Think deep about it. [s] marshman293:[/s] 2 Likes |
Re: Few Pics From Imo State by Yampotatocarrot(m): 9:18pm On Nov 24, 2019 |
Okay, I just returned from Imo state yesterday. Went there for an educational project in Ahiazu Mbaise local government area. I'll like to be really honest with what I'll be saying here, and I'll only face two sectors -Road and Education Please and please, if anyone can pass this message to Ihedioha, it'll be appreciated. The roads in Imo are CURRENTLY BAD, as in VERY VERY BAD. At a point I was wondering if the governor even moves outside the government house, because if he does, he would definitely have come across these roads. Road from Owerri to Mbaise was impassable as at three days ago, we had to return to Owerri and started the journey through Airport road, got to another bad spot, returned to Owerri and took another road again. I later had to find my way to Abia, then head back to Imo, through Umuahia to get to Mbaise. Considering that Mbaise is where the governor is from, I wonder what he is thinking to have made the roads degraded to that state. Nekede students are complaining cos of the poor state of the roads there, as in really bad, although they just started palliative works on the roads in Nekede day before yesterday. From Ozarra-egbelu to Emekuku, through to Egbu road, the road is very BAD. I'll advise those that'll be travelling back for Xmas with their cars to do better work on their cars before going to Imo state, else you'll regret travelling with it. I'm serious. Education: I don't know how they survive but all the secondary schools lack teachers. You'll see a secondary school with less than 8 teachers on ground (please, this isn't hearsay, but what I witnessed). Most teachings are done by student teachers who don't even know what they are doing. In the words of one of the student teachers: "Ayin bata nime class, ayin e chinwe ife na board..." (Once we enter class, we start writing on the board, whether they/we know what we are doing or not) Most schools complained of security because there are no fences around them, and their offices are being vandalized, students also laid the same complain to us, of people entering the schools to former trouble. Chairs? That'll be a miracle, most classes I visited had students either standing or sitting on the open windows... Those that had chairs were those donated by kind individuals. I'm sorry to add this, but most teachers and even administrators ain't doing their job, they just sit there and wait for pay at the end of the month. Found out that junior principals were even more serious about their duty than senior principals. The junior principals were the ones who were trying to bring sense of decency to the schools. I will make special mention of Ahiazu Secondary School and Obodo Ahiara Secondary School, when you visit these two schools, you'll think you are in a private school, the coordination, the way the students are handled is just impressive. In all, from complaint of insufficient subject teachers to insecurity in public schools to truancy among students to inadequate classrooms, I feel the educational sector in Imo state needs an intervention. Government should immediately employ qualified teachers and monitor them, infact ensure if teachers in a school are found not to be punctual, the principal of the school should be fired. Fences should be built around these schools and security men employed to man the gates. In the case of Ahiazu Secondary School, the information I got from an outsider from Ogbe community was that the reason why the school is organized is that aside the duty played by it's teachers and over 60 teaching practice students it has, the community around the school have made it a duty to punish flog any of the students of the school they see roaming the streets of the community during school hours. So, there should also be community initiation There were also cases of management misusing funds meant for development of the schools in some areas. Ahiara technical college is in urgent need of assistance. The school doesn't even have a gate, per say. Although great works are being done in the departments of Building and Construction (B.C) and Electrical department. On a side note: Their display day would be coming up in December, and I'll advise anyone with financial wherewithal to visit and school on that day and support in whatever way possible. PLEASE, ANY SUPPORT SHOULD EITHER BE GIVEN TO THE STUDENTS DIRECTLY OR IN PHYSICAL DONATION TO THE SCHOOL, NOT GIVEN TO THE MANAGEMENT. 4 Likes |
Re: Few Pics From Imo State by Yampotatocarrot(m): 9:35pm On Nov 24, 2019 |
I know it's a long read, but I'm trying to be as honest as I can be. I know someone that matters will read this and relevant changes will be made. Please, there are some buildings built in the same compound as Ahiara Technical College, the info I got was that they were built as extension of Imo poly by the Rochas administration, now that Rochas has left, the buildings have been left to be overtaken by weeds, please, it'll be okay if the buildings are furnished and handed over to the college, rather than spending money building a TVET whatever structure that the present government is currently building there. I repeat, please and please, the governor needs to really talk to the administrators in secondary schools in Mbaise, ESPECIALLY THE SENIOR SECONDARY SCHOOL PRINCIPALS, and fire those that are evidently not capable or worthy of that position. Roads: The expansion of the road from Fire service to MCC junction is a good idea, although I believe the contractors either don't know what they are doing or just stupidly trying to justify the millions they might have collected for it, because they are acting as amateurs. The road from MCC road by Chris Onuoha junction (I'm sure my spelling z wrong) to Egbu road has collapsed, as in totally collapsed. You have to trek through bush paths cos the road kinda sunk, and is not like a pit, filled with dirty water. (That's the road in front of Clairfort or whatever hotel) Good part is I never experienced policemen asking for bribes, but even if the Mbaise people are not voicing it out, probably because the governor is related to them, there is a hidden dissatisfaction among them about the current state of things generally in the state. (This is a truthful analysis of the current state of roads in Imo state and secondary education in Mbaise, I just wonder how other areas will be). I'm not an opposition member nor am I a government worker, I'm just a concerned indigene who had the opportunity to go back home for a project after about 4 years away 2 Likes |
