Re: NNFF Awards, Committee. by Icon4s(m): 5:38am On Nov 25, 2019 |
Firstly we need to agree on how or who to select as our committee's chairperson. Also we need to agree on the awards categories. Are we adopting exact same for last year? Are we removing or adding a couple of new categories? Are we maintaining the names to be immortalized? We last used Ogedengbe, Keshi, Okwaraji and Yekini. Please we need quick responses from committee members as this project has a time line. Tbaba1234, Komekn, Bascovanveli, TheSuperNerd, Andrewbaba44, Safarigirl, forgiveness. |

My nominations line-up for the 2019 NNFF Awards 1. Nigerian Player of the Year: Odion Ighalo Wilfred Ndidi Alex Iwobi 2. Home based Super Eagles Player of the Year: Olisa Ndah Sikiru Alimi Theophilus Afelokhai 3. Most Impactful New Inclusion (2019): Joseph Ayodele Aribo (AKA Joe Aribo) Emmanuel Dennis Bonaventure Maduka Okoye Note: Ramon Azeez would have been one of the candidates but he is really not new to the Super Eagles. He is only new under Rohr's tenure but has been to a world cup before back in 2014. He only returns after a five year NT absence. 4. Best Ogedengbe Super Eagles Best Goal Keeper of the Year: Ikechukwu Ezenwa Francis Uzoho Daniel Akpeyi 5. Stephen Keshi Best Defender of the Year: William Troost-Ekong Kenneth Omeruo Ola Aina 6. Samuel Okwaraji Best Midfielder of the Year: Joseph Ayodele Aribo Wilfred Ndidi Alex Iwobi *Peter Oghenekaro Etebo 7. Rashidi Yekini Best Attacking player of the Year: Odion Ighalo Victor Osimhen Samuel Chukwueze 8. Most improved player (2019): Francis Uzoho Ola Aina Chidozie Awaziem *Semi Ajayi Note: Semi Ajayi comes close too but Awaziem at the Afcon definitely showed massive improvements. And that was a really grand stage. Semi has shown same in recent games since the Ukraine friendly. Well, hopefully he gets nominated by other monikers. He improved as good as the other three on my list. 9. Young Player of the Year (U-21): Samuel Chukwueze Victor Osimhen Francis Uzoho 10. Super Falcons Player of the Year: Asisat Oshoala Chiamaka Nnadozie Chidinma Okeke 11. Super Eagles Goal of the Year: Odion Ighalo goal off that splendid Aina assist vs Burundi (Afcon 2019). Samuel Kalu solo goal vs Benin Republic (Afcon 2021 Qualifiers). Joe Aribo goal off Moses Simon assist vs Brazil (International Friendly). Re: NNFF Awards, Committee. by safarigirl(f): 2:15pm On Nov 25, 2019 |
I thought the awards have an ex-player's name attached to it? Like, Stephen Keshi's Defender of the Year, Samuel Okwaraji Defender of the Year etc |
Re: NNFF Awards, Committee. by safarigirl(f): 2:18pm On Nov 25, 2019 |
Icon4s:I propose we use same names for the most part, but establish new categories. I also propose the Young Player of the Year award can be called Mikel Obi Young player of the year Award As for new categories, I want to suggest John Fashanu Nigerian Players in the Diaspora Award. |
Re: NNFF Awards, Committee. by Icon4s(m): 5:58pm On Nov 25, 2019 |
forgiveness: Forgiveness, how come you prefer to quote a 2018 post than to make contributions to what we have on ground. |
Re: NNFF Awards, Committee. by Icon4s(m): 6:09pm On Nov 25, 2019 |
safarigirl: I agree with your first paragraph. We will be coming up with a few more award categories. On your second paragraph why Mikel Obi? Remember the essence of naming some of these awards is to immortalize some of the dead heroes. Based on that Mikel no qualify na We may think of a Top youth player that is late now. I also agree with your last paragraph. We may tag it 'Best Foreign born 'Prospect''. This will be in a bid to draw the NFF's and SE coaching crew's attention to that player. |

Icon4s: Hmmm! Thought I saw this and quoted it!? Anyway, someone should bring up an Idea then we can start from there. |
Re: NNFF Awards, Committee. by TheSuperNerd(m): 7:30pm On Nov 25, 2019 |
Yeah.... Best foreign born prospect will be nice. And they must not include those who are already capped by Euro Nations at senior level. The focus should be on those who are still eligible for us and we stand a probable chance of capping. In addition, I wanna ask. Why also not consider a Nigerian Best XI for 2019? We didn't have that for 2018, but we could begin with that this year. What do you all think? Icon4s: 1 Like |

Joebie: It's a good idea |
Re: NNFF Awards, Committee. by BascoVanVeli(m): 10:09pm On Nov 25, 2019 |
I would like us to think about adding, A. Comeback player of the year: A player that returned from injury or a player that beat an adverse situation. B. Most impactful sub of the year |
Re: NNFF Awards, Committee. by Icon4s(m): 10:12pm On Nov 25, 2019 |
TheSuperNerd: These two points are also noted. I am also suggesting we include 'Best assist of the year' award. We have seen some crazy assists from SE games this year and they cannot go unrecognized. More suggestions please. By the end of tomorrow we hope to have come up with the final list of awards categories which Will also include the proposed new additions. |
Re: NNFF Awards, Committee. by Icon4s(m): 10:17pm On Nov 25, 2019 |
BascoVanVeli: Ok, but for (A) above we have a 'Most improved' award. The improvement may also be a comeback. So I feel the proposed 'Comeback award' will conflict with the 'Most improved' award. As for (B) we all can look at but I feel the voting audience may find it difficult to ascertain. Which might lead to ambiguity. |
Re: NNFF Awards, Committee. by safarigirl(f): 11:24pm On Nov 25, 2019 |
Icon4s:I didn't know the names were in commemoration to read players, I just thought it was for ex-players. Foreign born prospect? Okay....I actually had in mind, those that are internationals for other countries, but that's fine as well. |
Re: NNFF Awards, Committee. by TheSuperNerd(m): 2:31am On Nov 26, 2019 |
Best assist will not be a bad addition shaa. Hey, we can consider adding that. Would be cool acknowledging the creative abilities of our players too. Aina's assist for Ighalo, Osimhen's assist for Chukwueze, Musa's assist for Ighalo, Ighalo's Assist for Iwobi... Mehn... We have so much indeed. You know what Chief... I think we should add this. I came a conclusion as I kept on typing and recalling all our beautiful assists of 2018 we didn't award and the ones for 2019 we can indeed bring into the light. On my points raised. Notification acknowledged. Icon4s: 1 Like |
Re: NNFF Awards, Committee. by TheSuperNerd(m): 2:35am On Nov 26, 2019 |
Thanks goodness Chief Icon4s clarified. Abeg our foreign born Naija/diaspora award should be for "eligible prospects" only oooo. Abeg. Merci. The likes of other Naija Foreign borns doing it for other nations should be ignored totally. They are internationals of other Nations. safarigirl: 1 Like |

Re: NNFF Awards, Committee. by Icon4s(m): 6:31am On Nov 26, 2019 |
safarigirl: I get am before no be your property Only those eligible to play for Nigeria. Like I said it will also be an opportunity to hammer on the NFF and Rohr to invite such a player. |
