I'm not from Kwara, I love how the Saraki dynasty was dismantled, I'm pro APC but these photos aren't doing justice to a supposed 300 million dollar project.

Heck nothing suggests even 300 million Naira has been spent.

This is Private investment by BUA group.

I really wish so, especially for bayelsa, delta and cross rivers, all they do is squander their wealth.

A company that sees the huge profits possible in a 200 million strong population and market.

Do you realise that Nigeria will be the 3RD most populous nation on earth after China and India by 2050?

Any wise business today will build the biggest factory it possibly can in Nigeria, to meet the the present and coming demand.

This is utter nonsense. Do we have any comparative advantage in sugar production? Can't manufacturing be focused on where the country excels at?

Kwara has a fertile land that can support large scale of sugar production

What in these photos looks like 300 million dollars of investment?

And remove that sugarcane plantation picture which was obviously lifted.

Don't know how much these refineries cost...
But the Dangote Sugar Refinery project in Niger State is costing $450m.

The BUA refineries (this is the third one) are state-of-the-art...
And includes private infrastructure such as a captive power plant.

It's NOT a state government project...

These are all PRIVATE projects, and between BUA, Dangote and Olams...
There are other sugar refineries in Lagos, Rivers and projects in Niger, Taraba, Adamawa and Nasarawa states.

The states should get credit for providing land...
But greater kudos belong to the Sugar Development Council, which grants tax holidays and other incentives.

What "comparative advantage" do we need?
We have sugarcane and fertile land, yet spend over $500m yearly importing raw sugar.

Leave them, they are being scammed.

Highest, $30m.. thats taking into account the 35MW power plant and the Ethanol plant

That's how they inflate everything. Sugar processing shouldn't be a long process. Just like rice milling.

Could see a BUA petrochemical facility in the future.
