This should serve as a lesson and stepping stone, dear. It's always a bad idea to go back to a job you left whether in good or bad terms. Except it's for a bigger position and pay with strong written agreement. Or just on an ordinary visit to say hi (for those you left on good terms).

You're expected to be in a better place after leaving, so humans will look down on one if they feel this isn't happening.

Sorry, forgive and move on. Your pathway to blessings will open and they will only hear good news about you going forward. They will meet or see you bigger and better. Pray same for them too.

Fast forward till today, i was given another deal on Monday, i was told to come on Wednesday to do the job. That same Monday, i was told by some teachers there that there wasn't supposed to be any negotiation that i should be doing those things for free, that we are family,im not a real artist. Still, i was expected to come today and do the art stuff.I still came since the deal was still on and the boss hadn't actually said i wasn't recieving payment today.

I went there and guess what, the proprietress was with those two teachers that said those things to me on monday. She asked me why i came to visit, as if there was no deal today. They all just kept quiet and ignored me. I gathered courage and asked " how about the art job and the deal i was supposed to be paid for? " The proprietress just said there was nothing. They could have called me to tell me but no, it was sweeter to have me arrive, look like a beggar, ignore me and then tell me bye in high snobbish voices as i was leaving. Why did they humiliate me?

Perhaps to sharpen their ego,
You were nice, they knew your flaws and still used it against you.
It's their loss and I know you'll turn out to be a great persok
Don't let your head down.
Stand up, learn your lessons and move on.
If you need a hug or a friend, I'm here.. You've been through quite a lot.

Congratulations, look up and dont ever loose hope, look up to God alone, everybody fails except God. When people mock me I always smile because I knew they have lost contact or relationship with a great person of our generation. So be cheerful clean your eyes and smile because the stone the builders rejected will be the corner stone very soon.
However, you Al's o need to be focused, work on your self, develop yourself, and above all have a relationship with God.

It is only bogus to a mind that has remained myopic despite aging. You will grow. It's only a matter of decades.

Purples25, I have about 14 years od corporate experience and I can tell you for free that your issue is ego, something you need to work on. It is the sole reason you were not able to succeed as a receptionist - it is the most basic of all jobs.

There was no humiliation in the event you narrated, rather, they are the ones that will be too ashamed to ask for your services in future.

Keep working on yourself, every human being is a work in progress. If you must succeed, you have to learn how to overlook embarrassments that come along. Take a cue from bus conductors, they get insulted by even those who cannot afford to pay, yet, they carry on. A number of them become owners of fleet of vehicles later in life.

Dangote started life selling Sugar, Salt etc with no label of his own. Yes, he was from a privileged background and started big, but hey gaddem it, dude was selling Sugar, Salt, groundnut oil, name it. Today, he is a brand.
Read it again and comprehend well this time.

What I will simply say is put the experience behind, brace up for the challenges ahead, and please, stop blaming yourself. At least, you've learnt some lessons which you will never forget in your entire life. It is well. Cheer up

You need to learn how to value yourself and build your self confidence.

There's a difference between humimilty and lack of confidence.

You already felt you weren't good enough for the job and and every then felt that way.

Please search for art schools abroad and leave.
Remember he who laughs last laughs best.

Use your experience to push yourself.

Wish you the best dear.

Thanks. Even if i get employment in another place, once i leave i am not coming back. They didn't even tell me the deal was off, they let me come back and then ignored me. It wasn't enough that they let me off the main job early and i still came to do something small. It was just that they wanted me to look like i needed them, they needed the last memory of me to make them look superior. I dont blame them. I could have left and never come for anything but they had to do it this way, ignoring me.
I hope you gave them a piece of your mind sha? Cos I fit change am for you if you just kept quiet and left to come here and seek solace

i had no idea what to do. I was chased from the house by the elders who said it was disgraceful for me to be at home, after having issues at uniabj. I was rushed to this job and though i brought my CV it was more of a connection thing. I didnt even know what they were giving me until i was told by the boss. Didn't prepare nor know what it entails. I didn't complain as it reduced insults and pressure at home. Rather i tried to do the job. Its an easy job but i knew nil about working under someone.

I talked to someone there. She apologized, told me to take it easy. Parents were coming so i had to leave. Almost every one else there seemed sooo less concerned.

What the hell are you saying
Can't you see her creative prowess
Most exceptional creative talents ain't good with inter-human relationships. Get that into your thick skull.
Abeg, this is just an inconsequential curve in the growth phase of OP. Let her move on, jare.

Sorry to burst your bubble but if you cannot perform basic admin tasks associated with being a receptionist then what hope is there for you in any sort of white-collar job? Sorry to be blunt but the skills you need as a receptionist is a starting point for ALL other roles.
Re: My Experience With Going Back To My Former Workplace. by lighternote: 11:49pm On Nov 27, 2019
Purples25, believe me, this is an inconsequential happenstance. Don't even blame yourself.
Those weak minds enjoy belittling others to feel momentarily strong.

It seems you've self esteem issues just because of your school issues. Believe me, a time will come when you'll look back and laugh off this.

Move on!!! Move on!!!

We all don't have the same divine calendar, and so there's nothing like age when it comes to education.

Pls, don't rush into a Nigerian school just to read anything just for the sake of "getting certificate".
Rather, take your time to get into a course that closely aligns with your talent. Since you're good in the arts, consider honing your skills in an Arts school abroad since it seems your folks can afford that. It'll likely open endless opportunities for you.

It's all part of experience. I also had some experiences.

Almost everyone have experienced silly things in the past and we will still do, we're learning.

We just have to step up our game.

Two things to hold on to.

- Confidence
- Self-esteem

shocked

You have no visible talent in your place of work and you also lack the fundamentals of common sense. You place no value on yourself and like a coin, you are being tossed and teased out of position, comfort, and schedules.

Anyone who offers no value receives no respect and anyone who places no worth on self will not be prized.

A fine artist with creative imaginations and the ability to draw but lacks the power to draw herself out of her own shadows.

With the eyes of a goddess and a nose chiseled into fine lines, you have both the incredible power of looks and creativity. Dont let anyone treat you like trash.
