The death of a VDC compressor in Nigeria.

VDC compressors are very sensitive to contamination and incorrect installation or refill proceedure. Also very sensitive to excessive heat from condenser area (fan failure)

Major reasons for failure.


The Honda Accord 2008-2012 have an issue with the air-conditioning electronics, in most cases the compressor never cuts off, this causes the evaporator to freeze over and short term the evaporator will leak.

i agree with you 1000%.. ..i dont know much about cars at all . but i use common sense when dealing with certain situations.. can you believe few mechanics wanted me to change my A/C compressor from automatic to Manual.? i was told that manual compressor was the best and it does not spoil easily etc.. And i thought to myself if the car manufacture wanted the manual compressor , am sure they would have done that long time ago. People should stop converting car manufacture specifications to their own needs... A/C compressor do have a life span , and once that life span expires a new compressor should be replaced. simple as 1,2,3

that will be an expensive thing to do.. it means i will have to fly down to lagos and take pictures .... but so far my civics are doing great , most of the parts needed i buy them directly from the USA ...

If I am in Lagos and I have the services and warranty of either Rad or Gaz, I'll always go with their expert opinion and diagnosis. But, there's a category of Nigerians that can't afford their fees or OEM parts required for the fixes, (it's not a crime to own a vehicle even if you can't maintain it) and it's perfectly okay for this people to explore cheaper options.

If say economy permit, nobody go dey buy toks when we fit enter dealership fill post-payment forms on credit.

I'm not saying it's the right thing to do,as it is not factory specs. But does it work? Hell×× yes!! If one can't afford a new automatic compressor,and tokunbo can be very tricky when buying one. If the engine is v6 I dont think there should be a problem. I no be mechanic but I have seen this things work over and over.
