From your write up, though no one has heard your Employer's side of the story, Your Employer seems to be making you feel you are not enough.(I wouldn't know whether you were giving training on commencement of duty) You also kept mentioning about your deficiencies, One way to success I know is focussing on your strengths and not your weaknesses bcz you weren't able to successfully complete your study in a particular course in UniAbuja doesn't mean you won't Excel in other fields. Believe me, You write well, you can draw, Look inward and find those other things you can do very well , Proceed to learn more about those things and stop blaming yourself for the things you can't do well, Everyone has weakness(was) 3 Likes |

lighternote: Maybe the guy was too blunt but the essence of what he said was correct. Even non-white collar workers should be able to perform basic administrative tasks in this computer age. Her issue seemed to be more of a psychological one. She felt inadequate in the role so she didnt have confidence in herself plus the school issue wasnt helping. When its time for her to showcase her artwork in huge exhibitions with so many people, choose an agent and negotiate with art dealers, she will still face the same issue if she doesnt boost her self-esteem. If she's not good at something she can still improve in the future. Being a creative is not an excuse for failure or lack of improvement. Stop coddling her, she is not a baby. 1 Like |

purples25: Let me correct this notion of yours. Trying to show humility by bringing down yourself to people who appreciate you less is just a waste of time. I do it before but not anymore. Once I leave a place I leave even if you call me to come around I'll just ignore you. Employers and their loyal dogs aren't nice at all no matter how selfless you work. They only care about what benefit you be to them. An employer once told me hope I don't have any plan of marrying anytime soon. Another one told me pointblank that here, forget about your career, I'm here to make money, you work for me, I pay you. No room for self development, I keep saying that expatriates who treat our fellow citizens anyhow aren't to be blamed. If you see how a nigerian treats his fellow citizen you'll be shocked. Let me just rest here. Wish you luck and success in your future endeavours. 3 Likes |

This thought is not fantastic in the long run, never burn bridges irrespective of circumstances. The future has a lot yet unraveled, don't put yourself in a situation where you'd reget not maintaining proper relationship with your employer. toluwalopsy: 1 Like |

Purple25, This is one piece of encouragement you should take seriously, you faced an embarrassment, not humiliation. Do not exaerggerate the situation, these are things you receive with smile, move on and challenge yourself to do greater things. I do not normally speak on posts not directed at me but I would ask that you please ignore all posts reinforcing the "wickedness" of your employer, they make you feel good, but do nothing to help you move forward. kemkol: Good decision. It is better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to open your mouth and remove all doubt... Your type believe that someone can work in FRSC and collect salary from NIPOST. That is why you believe someone can use Google or Nairaland services and be paying MTN for it because MTN owns Google and Nairaland, abi? Onye nzuzu. |

Interesting. OP, you are clearly very talented but you seem to be too simple and vulnerable for the world, and Nigerians especially are wolves. You don't need to even do anything, just show a hint of weakness and they would move in. I can bet this is what happened in your narration. If you observe well, this should not be the first time this is happening to you: unprovoked aggression. You seem so so sensitive and express yourself better in writing. It would do you well to be careful where you let your guard down, this won't be the last time people would hurt you. You started that job from a position of weakness, this built the momentum towards that final event. There have been a lot of good advice and reassurance for you on this thread, I bet you have the head to know what to pick and what to discard. To reinforce what others have said. You are gifted, you must believe in yourself. Quit the negative thinking, it does no good. Continue to hone your craft, your time will come. Good luck! 2 Likes |

It’s good to know that. Whenever I visited my previous schools I would always plan with a fresh clean shirt because I was sure to be roughened up by the children clutching and jumping on me excitedly. Lols. So much fun. purples25: 1 Like |
