Our people sef dey over do why will they build without approval if they demolish now they will say the govt is bad and also it's a big shame to the government when they were building were was the monitoring team I guess them Don collect bribe

Lol . This is what they do all the time. Sell lands to people and after 10,15 years, claim the land is obstructing govt plan and destroy people's houses. Evil bunch of fraudulent bastar.ds.

What if people show approval for their structure on the RoW? ... those that bribed to get it? Why even ask for approval papers..... don't they know the RoW path?.... where they should be no structures?...approval papers or not? Why not give a deadline?.....By January 31 all structures along X path should be taken down or would be demolished?. ...or better to mark the buildings that need to be removed. Why even negotiate with squatters?...they knew what they were getting into.... they should have a Plan B.

Is he saying when the road is built there would be no more flooding?...I always thought it was drainage systems that prevent flooding.
...can't have a city where people can do as they like...nothing will ever be organized nor systems work...result...a failed city.

One of the reasons why I am always scared of building in lekki axis.. apart from the hundreds of millions for property..plus controlled floods

which proper notification did they not know what they were doing when they were doing it. They are fully aware of the repercussions. someone is building on my property without my permission and you're telling me I should notify him... for what?

What if they were lied to by LASG officials while acquiring the land? Who will buy lands that are meant for roads?

LASG always gives notification. That one na standard. By the time they are there with the bulldozers , the demolition notice would have been delivered.

You can always try to settle your way out of it, by that is almost always a temporary solution

Nigerians are very lawless. They’ve done this in my state too. Built houses along a major flood way dt government had forbidden from being built because it’s the pathway to the river.

Now the whole area is flooded beyond belief, even covering house roofs. Water has nowhere to pass.

Yes. Many fraudulent estate agents. We almost fell for one. Our lawyer told us to check with planning office before payment, and we found out the agent had not even gotten CofO for the land cos it was under contention wt the state government.
Another seller had duped him, and he wanted to quickly chop up and resell the land to unsuspecting buyers. If u see the brochure ehn, you would never believe the land had k-leg.

Sanwolu just keeps talking tough without thinking of how to make life better in Lagos. Effective Governance is not by tough talking bt giving a meaningful life to the people 1st by effective service and amenities then u can talk tough on problematic and contentious issues.

Lagos Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu said his government will demolish buildings obstructing government’s Right of Way (RoW) at Lekki in Eti-Osa Local Government Area.

Sanwo-Olu said this during a road assessment on Saturday in Lekki, saying that people had built structures without planning approval, thereby obstructing government’s RoW.

Sanwo-Olu said that houses built on the RoW and obstructions on the alignment of the Lekki Regional Road were the major causes of flooding around Lekki axis.

He said that the Lekki regional road was meant to be a relief access road for the Lekki-Epe express road.

”We have gone round and have seen that there are places where the alignments are still kept, and people still kept the planning approval of the state government.

”But a major place of concern is where people have completely bastardised the right of way, where people have built structures around the place, without approval.

”We are going to instruct the Ministry of Physical Planning to come and ask for their planning approvals. The ones that do not have, we will mark all those buildings for demolition.

”We want to also engage them because we will need to ask them what other alternatives they want to give us. What alternatives are they going to provide for government.

”If people that are meant to be civilised will come and develop on government’s right of way for future development of roads, I think it speaks to the soul of everybody,” he said.

The governor said that building on RoW was a high level of irresponsibility by citizens and disregard for the state’s urban planning masterplan.

According to him, government will not condone it or sit back and let people take undue advantage of the state’s planning laws.

”So let us take them to public courts, let us take them to the public domain, people need to see how reckless people can also live and they show that they are building with high walls with high gates.

”This government will not relent, we will do whatever it is for us to do, so that we can preserve the sanctity of the state, of the city and people that are law abiding must have respite,” he said.
