what about physics ?
will lamlad do cause I know the basics

Honestly the only lamlad book I trust is chemistry. Maybe because I was lucky enough to have been taught by one of the authors. I recommend you use it in addition to other physics text like new school.

Thanks for your timely addition Boss Mandeyy. However, what logical reason do you feel having dual degrees justify?
it's because a lot of dentists had the intention to study medicine but couldn't get it. So, they continued with dentistry with the hope of going back to study medicine. Therefore, it's not like they set out ab initio to acquire dual degrees. Difficulty in gaining admission into medicine caused it.

Secondly, no knowledge is a waste. They'll definitely apply the knowledge got from both disciplines in patients' treatments as one dual degree oral and maxillofacial surgeon once said.

Thirdly, some medical doctors love the branch of dentistry called oral and maxillofacial surgery. So, they have to qualify first as dentists before doing residency in oral and maxillofacial surgery.

Finally, a dual degree holder is preferred by patients. They believe that he has a greater knowledge of their ailments, having got a well grounded knowledge of both medicine and Dentistry. For example, Prof. Chima Oji, a dual degree oral and maxillofacial surgeon believes that oral and maxillofacial surgeons in Nigeria need to have a medical degree after graduating as dentists, that it makes oral and maxillofacial surgeons more competent. He first studied medicine before going back to study dentistry and thereafter specialized in oral and maxillofacial surgery. On the contrary, the late Prof. Alagumba Nwoku first studied dentistry before going back to study medicine and thereafter specialized in oral and maxillofacial surgery.

There's also a call that consultants in oral medicine ( a branch of dentistry) should also have a medical degree, since that branch of dentistry is purely medical in practice. This is to make them more competent. And that's how it's done in Britain. However, oral pathology ( a branch of dentistry) is purely medical, but there's no need for a medical degree since the months or years the residents rotate through general pathology can cover that deficiency.

Have you asked your senior colleagues about the preferred textbook? I prefer you use Junqueira though.

unimaid don't accept second choice
I'm not even sure you can find a public uni that offers medicine, accepting second choice candidates

what of northern State uni?

We from the south, we have a wrong perception of Northern tertiary institution... It is very difficult for a southerner to be offered admission in a northern University especially for professional courses except by merit. By merit I mean being the highest from his state.
Due to catchment area policy of admission in Nigeria, no southern state is in the northern state catchment area and vice versa. So a person with 262 from Jigawa may be admitted to ABU yet a person with 305 from OYO may be denied admission.
Northern Universities are not easy to get as a southerner except you are a very high flyer.
As per 2nd choice school, hardly a federal University accept 2nd choice, Uniport, EBSU, ESUT and some other state schools allow second choice to sit for their post UTME but must change to first choice to be offered admission. EBSU don't do post UTME, and state schools are expensive.
My advise, focus on your first choice. State universities are less competitive and easier to get compared to federal universities but are more expensive.
If you have the finance go for state University like EBSU, no post UTME, and with a little above 250 you can get MBBS or choose a federal institution in your catchment area with a little above 290 average of both UTME and Post UTME you are in. If you chose to go outside your catchment area... To be on a safer side, gun for an average of 320.

Uniport doesn't allow second choice to sit for post utme

I don't know of other years but in 2019, uniport allowed second choice to sit for post utme but said they must change to first choice to be considered for admission, I don't know if they will follow same patter next year. It is only if u had tried Northern Universities that u would know that it's not easy to get admission there especially that of MBBS. The hardest is the Bayero University Kano medical school. If u are not from Kano state or the sister state, forget it. If u are an Igbo, u must be a genus ...probably the best for u to get admission into MBBS in BUK. It is easier to get MBBS in southern universities than the core Northern universities.

good. Uniabuja is also a nice choice of institution. TONYE001 is more informed about the sch than anything I'll tell you.
I learnt they are also doing screening of recent - I don't know maybe it applies to DE too.
By the way don't forget to supplement it with utme. (Since you're taking Uniabuja for DE, try any other federal or state uni that around north central or north generally.)

True. This year, they screened their DE applicants. I gathered the questions were mostly English Language, some sciences and general knowledge.

UniAbuja is a very good choice but it's competitive. Applicants should prepare their minds for a very stiff competition.

My brother you are not far from the truth, so many misconception from our southern brothers... I am a southerner but I live in Zaria, Kaduna State... I know what I am saying... ABU and BUK are extremely difficult for southerners, except you are a very high-flyer.
They admit just one per state, that is usually the highest person.
MBBS admission is competitive everywhere, the competition reduces in your catchment area, followed by state universities.
If to say money dey private University na him person for go. After all MBBS na MBBS irrespective of the school as long as the school is accredited by NUC and MDCN.

I tried federal and state uni tire before I carried myself to private. No patient will ask me where I graduated from. Doctor na doctor.
If I had known when my mates were leaving UNN for ABSU for medicine, I for follow them instead of reading physiotherapy in UNN while they went for medicine in ABSU and IGBINEDION.
All of them dey do shakara for me now telling me to pack one corner with my UNN cert.
The private I rejected then claiming it's for less intelligent students is where I finally landed.

las las, if you really want to be a doctor, any accredited med sch in Nigeria is good be it private or not.
once you start working, nobody will ask you where you graduated from. infact its the same lecturer's in public uni that teach us in private uni. Learnt the hard way.
