The DSS does not really require the authorization of the President before they carry out their function. As long as it poses as a threat to national security they are triggered to act.

So, the DSS is above the court of Nigeria ? The DSS is above the law and constitution of our founding fathers. May God give some Nigerians WISDOM to think and see beyond there eyes. AMEN!!!

I didnt even waste time reading the entire write up because a couple of paragraphs in and it already sounded very idi.otic. My question is for DSS is that at the end of the day, will still they go back to the same court that they are flouting its orders to try to convict Sowore or they plan to keep in DSS custody indefinitely. Buhari shpuld remember that it is people that put him there or supposedly put him there. The court has said that he has met his bail conditions. Then let him out and continue with your case. There is a law on Nigeria that you can't be under custody for a number of days without trial. That is exactly what DSS is doing here. The case has been adjourned to Feb 2020. My guess is that they plan to keep him in their custody till then while they work on passing their hate speech bill. Shameless govt.

I tire o, and one nymphomaniac said dss are triggered to act they were not triggered to act when Fulani here's men were busy terrorizing the country, a man made a simple request that is of benefit to common Nigerians they left their manners at home and desecrate a federal high court!! seriously if they are not checked a time would come when the govt would start using them to assassinate any man who thinks the gvt is not performing enough,

They are afraid of another Kanu on the lose! Or another Radio kudirat version of Sahara reportage.
Hence, if they had allowed Sowore to leave that court next thing is to escape the country then either liaise Nnamdi Kanu or other sympathisers both local and intl to make the Govt restless.

They believe he knows too much. They don't want to sing "another Wild Dog on the loose!

I am afraid, God will save him so they don't kill him gradually or just keep him till the end of this tenure.

Alternatively, they will strike a bargain with him again then confiscate his paspo!

Oga, this was what he should have started before trying to become the president of the nation. Revolution after losing via ballot box is rubbish. It doesn't just add up. Those advicing this guy are his worst enemy cos they didn't even plan the whole revolution well. The foundation of the so call revolution is just about him getting to power. Even America won't allow such and would suppress such person. He need to have a rethink cos if he just die anyhow, heaven won't fall and from history Nigerians would forget him in time cos everybody get one problem or another wey dem dey nurse personally.
Re: Sowore: Between Facts And Fiction by emkz: 12:48am On Dec 09, 2019
@Garba Shehu, presidency; it is true that Omoyele Sowore called for revolution. But it is also true that he has been granted bail. Yet, the omnipotent DSS failed to release him.

From your explanations, are you insinuating the DSS is not bound by a court order? If this is the case, why don't you disband the courts so that we'd all agree that we can be lawless since our security agencies are lawless?

Omoyele Sowore lacks the wherewithal to execute a revolution in this country; that the DSS sees him as a threat is an indication that the secret police is manned by unintelligent people which indicates that your Principal appoints incompetent people to hold delicate positions.

What then is the guarantee that we are safe when mentally bankrupt people are given guns?

Inadvertently, you have given light and drawn sympathizers to the Sowore cause. Remember, Nigeria can be sanctioned by the international community for human rights violation. Are you prepared for these consequences? And if the heat is too much, Nigerians would take their anger out on you. Where then would you go? Those of you in power today always forget where you are coming from and where you'd go to after your tenure ends.

You were a journalist; argue for your colleague to be released.

presidency:
STATE HOUSE PRESS RELEASE

SOWORE: BETWEEN FACTS AND FICTION

The Presidency notes some of the insinuations in the media about the arrest by the Department of State Services (DSS) of the agitator, Omoyele Sowore.

The DSS does not necessarily need the permission of the Presidency in all cases to carry out its essential responsibilities that are laid down in the Nigerian Constitution – which was the foundation for the restoration of democracy in our country in 1999.

However, it should not surprise anyone who has followed his actions and words that Sowore is a person of interest to the DSS.

Sowore called for a revolution to overthrow the democratically elected government of Nigeria.

He did so on television, and from a privileged position as the owner of a widely read digital newspaper run from the United States of America.

He founded an organisation, Revolution Now, to launch, in their own words, “Days of Rage”, with the publicised purpose of fomenting mass civil unrest and the elected administration’s overthrow.

No government will allow anybody to openly call for destabilization in the country and do nothing.

Mr. Sowore is no ordinary citizen expressing his views freely on social media and the internet.

He was a presidential candidate himself, who ran – and lost – as the flag bearer of the African Action Congress (AAC) in the February 23 general elections.

Nigeria's democracy was a long time in the making, and was achieved after decades of often harsh, military-led overthrows of government: the kind of situation Sowore was advocating.

To believe in and desire armed revolution is not normal amongst 'human rights activists', as Sowore has been incorrectly described.

Again, it is no surprise that he should be a person of interest to the DSS.

Nigeria is already dealing with an insurgency that has left millions of people displaced and desperate in the northeastern region of our country.

The Boko Haram militants, who are behind the violence, also fancy themselves to be fighting for some sort of revolution.

Nigerians do not need another spate of lawlessness and loss of lives all in the name of 'revolution', especially not one that is orchestrated by a man who makes his home in far away New York – and who can easily disappear and leave behind whatever instability he intends to cause, to wit, Nnamdi Kanu.

This is a matter for the DSS, acting under its powers.

For peace to reign you say and we should leave it like that. I don't know your definition of peace. Boko-Haram is still killing, Fulani headsmen is still killing and destroying people's farm land that farmers can't go to there Farm in the Sothern region of Nigeria becuase of there safety on there own soil. That means we will be relying on the North to feed. Police have been killing young Nigerian youth week in week out and none of the Police men have been arrested or sentenced. People are being arrested for critisizing the government on social media., A banker was arrested for criticizing a governor, jounalist have been abducted unduly by the DSS. Three fine Nigerian police men were shot dead by soldiers to rescue a kidnapper and the soldiers are still wearing army uniform and even the kidnapper hasnt been sentenced yet and no one seems to know whats going on about the case. We have 13 million out of school children in Nigeria and 24 million unemployed youth in Nigeria. In all this , if you think we have peace you are decieving yourself. We have to revisit the constirution of Nigeria and know why a senator will be earning an amount 500 graduate cant earn in a month. If we don't demand good governance and we keep managing they will be taking us out one by one like the police is doing and also you that can afford something to eat , those on your street that can afford anything to eat will still come and rob you for what you have just for survival. We are in the middle of a crisis already if we don't act.

Bro stop yapping national security, national security as if Sowore posses nuclear bomb. The fear of Buhari's severely underperforming govt is that Sowore will open the many ills of this govt and call them out and other Nigerians will eventually also develop liver to confront the govt for being so useless. And that is why they are trying to pass the social media bill and term everything hate speech so you can remain docile like humble, hungry peasants. Only one Era have we seen this type of hatred for freedom of speech and it was during the Abacha Era when DSS was called SSS and their head was Rogers.

He obviously does not have power over the Police when they kill us
He does not have power over the military when they abuse our rights
He does not have power over anything

The one being fooled is you bro. Weapons alone are not what makes one a national security threat. Terrorism is being fought on all fronts now including media terrorism and technological terrorism.

Media Terrorism is even the worse. Case in Point THE HOLOCAUST which occurred in Nazi Germany. It did not become the holocaust overnight. It actually began through a series of well orchestrated hate speeches and even the UN did a documentary about it today about how Hate speech aka media terrorism fueled the holocaust.

Sowore and his likes are threats because that has been his modus operandi

Buhari is such a big disappointment
The so called Vice President is a puppet.
The illiterate thugs of DSS and their corrupt unpatriotic managers only want to control Buhari and keep the money stealing machine going.

They claim to fight corruption but they have nothing to show for it. Selective fight of corruption. Buhari and his administration should look in the mirror and their associates to see corruption.
