D4donnn: With what I'm seeing here... Mr AY should be able to do this thing, it looks like "network region" issue. This is not hardware, this is software issue CDMA/EVDO Besides, there should be Automatic or Global that is the major mode that needs to be registered with it. I never see EVDO carrier in Nigeria |

Lol. Starcomms used to be our only EVDO carrier back in the day. Toceenay: |

Well I’ve spoken with cyber. He said the MIPI fault is of 2 variants. One Software and the other hardware. In his words “He’ll be able to troubleshoot the software by downloading a data file of 4.2GB. If it works all good. But chances are low. However if that fails, then the issue is hardware which he won’t be able to fix. My suggestion: 1. Buyer and DH splits money meant for MIPI software to see if device works. 2. If problem eventually turns out to be hardware, Dh would take back his item and refund buyer. What has happened here is similar to buying a password locked iphone and end up discovering it’s iCloud locked. cc Kreamie 7 Likes |

Kreamie: I'm talking about the GSM network we have now majorly for calls and data, not the likes of starcomms, smile, spectranet etc |
Re: Dispute Resolution Thread [For Pickup/Deal Hunting & Other Issues Alike] by seyithug(m): 11:43am On Dec 13, 2019 |
Toceenay:Starcomms and Visafone had EVDO speed. For CDMA networks, EVDO/EVDO Rev.A is like the 3G network speed of GSM networks Normally, AT&T network is based on GSM, so I'm wondering why the phone has a CDMA/EVDO option. I'll suggest an appropriate AT&T software update or flashing. |

EVDO used to be the fastest back in the day. EVDO and CDMA networks can’t be likened. They were both prominent way back!! You’re right. These were from way back & not valid anymore. Toceenay: |

khalazi:True As at this time. nothing has been flashed or device tempered with in anyway. The issue is a common issue with s7 and s8 series, Now some s9 too. Solution is what's up there as it's not 100% but we can try that. I will send @D4donnn the files link when ready and hope it fix the issue. |

D4donnn:Put it on the LTE/3G/2G (auto-connect) option. Toggle Data Roaming to OFF (you don't need it. Not that it has anything to do with the issue on ground o). |
Re: Dispute Resolution Thread [For Pickup/Deal Hunting & Other Issues Alike] by D4donnn: 11:54am On Dec 13, 2019 |
seyithug: I've done both things and it hasn't changed anything , even if you click on it it still displays the cdma 3g something something , forgive me I'm not tech savvy , and I'd prefer sending it to cybertek Because 1 I don't have a pc and 2 I don't even know what to do after being sent the file , 3 I can take it to others but that will involve me traveling from where I live down to warri . 2 Likes |

D4donnn: This mipi issue ehn, seem to be a big thing with s8 series. I have like 3 devices or so with the same issue presently. And some days ago, another s9+ developed the same fault too. The peculiar thing about the s9+ own is that it was fully functional some days before, and the fault just showed up from nowhere. I however got it fixed by an Engineer (hardware). And I'm sending the same Engineer my s8s with mipi today, to see if he'll be able to fix it. So I'll suggest you first try to get the software part done by cybertek. And if it later turns out to not be a software issue, I'll update as per the Engineer, that's if he's able to get my s8s fixed too 2 Likes |

khalazi:Nothing similar here at all... Samsung is 100% different from iPhone... I deal majorly with Samsung and buying a locked Samsung phone is quite different from the icloud lock you talking about. If you buy a locked phone, then you know it's your responsibility to unlock it. Whatever issue is not from the seller, especially if the seller stated its locked already... Even if it's iphone and the buyer intent to use Chip, then the chip didn't work well (maybe messages didn't drop in, etc, how is that the seller's responsibility, buyer needs to know to what extent they should push responsibilities, not with issues like this. 3 Likes |

D4donnn: Oh okay. You'll have to go with Cybertek's options, then. As stated above, if the software/MIPI option doesn't work, then a full refund would be in order. |
Re: Dispute Resolution Thread [For Pickup/Deal Hunting & Other Issues Alike] by Jerri7(m): 11:58am On Dec 13, 2019 |
khalazi: The solution suggested here to the best of my knowledge is the way to go. I bought two phones from senior members of this forum in the last two weeks with different lock issues discovered from what was advertised after they were unlocked initially. One was easy for me to solve, though it costs extra 8k for me, but I just pointed it to the seller and moved on. But the second was too expensive for me and being a gentleman, the seller collected it back and made a full refund to me. We should discourage the idea of asking the buyer to go and bear the issues all alone, it is better for the two people involved to find a common ground and move on (Suggestion 1) and if it is not solved, we follow Suggestion 2. That is also the risk the DH will have to bear. 4 Likes |

Toceenay:In my world When a Samsung device cannot receive network, I’ll like to term it as an icloud locked iPhone. Both are basically useless until fixed. My point. “At&t locked.” And “At&t locked. 2k to unlock” Are 2 different things sir. I have given my suggestion based on how I’ve dealt with things in the past. It’s an advise. It mustn’t be followed 2 Likes |
Re: Dispute Resolution Thread [For Pickup/Deal Hunting & Other Issues Alike] by Joselph95(m): 12:09pm On Dec 13, 2019 |
khalazi: What are the differences please? It was stated in the advert that:- "2k to Unlock", doesn't that indicate it is LOCKED? Besides D4donnn KNEW very well it was AT&T LOCKED because he asked how to go about the unlocking. |
Re: Dispute Resolution Thread [For Pickup/Deal Hunting & Other Issues Alike] by Toceenay(m): 12:10pm On Dec 13, 2019 |
khalazi: It's easy to differentiate the 2 you stated above now because the buyer and seller are having issues... It's 100% the same thing if no issue arise... when seller talk about the locked status of a phone it's quiet different from stating it as unlocked I'm a seller too... Don't forget any solution agreed on will be a precedent for future occurrence. Take Note |

Sending over 4gb file look impossible to me, why can’t you get the phone accros to cyberteck let him try it out ? |
Re: Dispute Resolution Thread [For Pickup/Deal Hunting & Other Issues Alike] by D4donnn: 12:14pm On Dec 13, 2019 |
Toceenay: Thanks a lot for your contribution now I wanna say something , if I'd gone with the initial plan where he was to unlock bthr device before sending it over , and the fault was discovered will you have suggested he sends me a dud for a phone since he simply said "at&t unlock 2k " ok whatbaout if I say this that after explaining to him my financial predicament and we discover that to unlock the phone cost probably 10x more , would you have still suggested that buyer bears the extra increment . All I'm saying is , buying a phone advertised as fully functional with a MIPI ISSUE yes unknown to the seller , can it be actually called fully functional . Or is ignorance now a avenue for transferring liability . I know you're speaking from the perspective of a seller while trying to be unbiased and I truly respect it . But if you're saying anyone can now post things like perfectly functional in a tlc and expect the person buying the device to foot any loss not cosmetic or normally expected , does that really seem fair ? 2 Likes |

Re: Dispute Resolution Thread [For Pickup/Deal Hunting & Other Issues Alike] by D4donnn: 12:20pm On Dec 13, 2019 |
Joselph95: Yes I did and did you ever for one instance ask or tell me that any issue , surrounding unlocking the device will be my loss to bear . I know you're unaware about the MIPI issue but you trying to push the blame squarely on me is beging to tell more on your person you're nice but don't try to be selfish , if everyone acts like you're suggesting no one can buy any tlc device with a clause . You said fully functional when does " MIPI " issue becomes fully functional and from what cybertek said the fault is not from the unlock so don't add it to the mix , mipi is a unique stand alone problem of the device you sold to me , you've diverted the blame on me , cybertek , you've used the grammatical construction of your ad and the latest one is you're trying to put unlock and a software not probably hardware issue as same . Does that seem right or reasonable to you ? 1 Like |
