Pls I'm a student of Microbiology in one of the Nigeria universities. I had 2.80 as CGPA in my first semester in 100 level. And first class has been my goal. Can I still make it to the Top? Pls I need your advise. Because it is a technology school where I'm using 5yrs.

First class NO, 2'1 YES

you can know this by yourself, just get your departmental hand book and calculate it using the course you have to take till final year.

Just do your calculations. I doubt if it's possible. Remember, it depends on whether your institution is 7 pointer or lesser. Don't forget your GPA is averaged. Do the calculation of what you need to make at the next levels and "double your hustle"- try quadruple. You might end up there. Best of luck.

Refuse to despair, dear lad, you can still attain First Class if you score 5.0 till you graduate. Since your course has a five-year duration, 2.80 + 5.0 * 9 semesters/10 semesters=4.78. A student once had 5.0 in all semesters at UNILAG, graduating with a perfect CGPA. So, it is possible. Aim at 5.0 each semester and tenaciously shoot!

Yes you can. I had 2.83 in my first semester but graduated with 4.23. It would have been better If I had worked harder.
