Brother there is nothing worse than when you have d good job and money but you have lost the only woman that u have ever loved and has ever loved u. See, that feeling is killing. If your girl is ready to go through it with you but you have to be totally open to her, let her know ur finances and capacity, don't form and d major thing is that u are hustling and not sitting at home playing ludo and whot. If u are going out and hustling and she's supportive bruh don't ever in ur life lose her else regret will kill you. When u have money and a good job every girl would seem to love u but would u beat ur chest they won't run when things go south. Only that girl that went through hell with you will u beat ur chest that she will stay with you, that feeling alone is satisfying. If you must marry you can hold on with having kids cos kids are expensive but if both of you are getting old u can try with 1 and see how things go but don't forget keep hustling. That alone will keep her hopeful cos last last she's human and she has to see that u are trying to make progress in life no matter how little. But never lose the love of ur life. Celebs are depressed cos they can't find who truly loves them. Forget d online charade you see. Every girl wants to be with them but can they say it's true love. Reason with all d money and fame they hardly ever settle down. Its a terrible feeling trust me. It gets so bad some want to go back to their previous life before celeb status. He no easy trust me.
My broda u are wise

There's an art of directly making money, which we most probably have left for the sales department/C.E.Os, i think it's something everyone should involve in. Education gives you exposure and network. That's an edge. "Nobody said you can/should only make money via a paid employment. There's something about our education that is trappy, creativity is flogged out gradually in schools that we barely think of going solo(side hustle) you get better marks when you use the lecturer's words, there's this mentality of "i will make my money using biro". like robots weve been programmed to only think of paid employments in a way limiting our potentials, i was at computer village Ikeja recently and i saw businesses doing well,i said to myself this is not by Bsc or HND. Neither are graduates forbidden to take this route.

You have changed tone.

Earlier, you claimed Nigeria is the only country in the world that offers "free education." I countered it, now you are talking about population.

Okay, let's talk about population. Let's even assume Nigeria has 200m people. More than half of that population don't go to school because they are in the North. The remaining half, get crappy textiary education which you cannot compare to what you get in most other places.

Also, primary and secondary education is not free in most parts of Nigeria. And in places where it is free, people don't take advantage of it because it is low quality elementary education.

However, in places like the US and Canada, quality elementary education up to secondary school is free.

In European countries, you get quality education for free from primary to PhD level.

My argument: Nigeria is not the only country that offers subsidized "low quality" education.

There’s nothing like changing tone.

With this “supposed” crappy education that you get in Nigeria, those that go abroad for further studies still use these “crappy” knowledge to excel in whatever field. Education is Nigeria is not ‘low quality’, it is the same way you have been programmed to think everything Nigerian is bad.

The biggest challenge facing our education sector is infrastructure, as it affect the students it also affects the lecturers.

About population, it’s funny how you can categorically say more than half of Nigeria population is in the North. You really need to know more about your country.

Also Primary and Secondary school education is FREE in most part of the country. That your parents decide to send you to a private school doesn’t invalidate that fact.

Better to say, in “some” European countries. Only 15 from 44 countries offer free tuition to tertiary institution.

With our population, give props to the government for providing an almost free tertiary Education.

[s]Lol, you can try harder. Didn't you read the part where he said, a graduate should be an artist among artisans?
If I want to be artisan, why am I in classroom? It is people like you that believe what most Nigerian graduates learn only is English speaking.

Who is a graduate?

Graduates (Engineers) research, design, test and build everything from machinery to electrical devices.

Technicians often help engineers with the research and testing of new products or upgrades to old systems.

Artisans are craftspeople who might work with one of a variety of mediums, such as wood, metals or glass.
Below is a comparison of some careers from each field.

Job Title Education Requirements Median Salary (2016)
Graduates (Engineers): Bachelor's Degree $89,210
Technicians:Associate's Degree $58,480
Artisans: High School Diploma, Apprenticeship $31,180
Source: *U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics

From the above, why should a person trained to research, design, build and test machines, be working with woods and metals, the role a Secondary school leaver is fit for?[/s]

Because Nigeria has failed us, doesn't mean we shouldn't see things right.

Say Nigeria has failed you. Not us.

Going by Napolitano's last post about completion of documentation process by HR, maybe, just maybe, the go ahead approval we are all waiting for, will come from the MoP, not GMD. Cavalier mentioned this in one of his posts

The next logical step now will be for the GMD to meet with the MoP to discuss getting MoP's approval to release Apl. When that conversation will take place, only time will tell.

Can we just turn this thread to other than NNPC speculations? These are just speculations. As much as been hopeful we must be realistic knowing fully well not all will make it.
I only pity those of us who think they are beyond rejection in the his recruitment and fail to make other good plans.
Personally taking the idea step of not giving a f*** about what I can't control. Pray and hope but not tire my life success to it.
Come whatever I and you will be fine. Believe but work harder.

The electrical engineer in your class that decides to be an "electrician", learns from an artisan electrician for a few months and , starts doing wiring for people by hinself is already an artisan and give him a few years, he'll employ you tongue

So once again I ask "why did we leave artisan jobs for non graduates?"

I quite agree with you bro. I think it high time we graduate drop the notion that we must all work in the corporate setting. We should put our pride away as graduate of engineering or any other course and pick up some practical skills like tailoring, welding, plumbing, auto repairs e.t.c. we can start small and only God knows where he can take us to. I believe if an educated person e.g an engineer, acquires a skill and decides to passionate succeed on it. He will do it better than someone who had little or no education by way of innovation and before you know it, he might even an employer of labor. For me, I have made the decision to acquire this practical skills under an artisan for some months and I will even pay for the training. I have my own ideas and I won't let having a master degree get into my head.

I do agree with you but the skills to get are not those of the artisans only.
Except in cases where your career has no self learnable skills.

Say for instance, an electrical engineer need practical skills in wiring and installation and lots more.
Having artisan skills doesn't mean engineers should go be learning farming skills as most universities did to us back then.

I laff at those who think generally that Nigeria education is world class because Nigerians do well outside the country. Of course we have exceptional universities and programs but generally we do so many unnecessary stuff.

You have no idea how much we have to grind and grind and sometimes look stupid before our peers.

More than 70 percent of the first class and second class students we studied together in Europe looked dull and stupid mostly at the first semester of study because we were still learning farming while our mates were designing systems already.

This doesn't mean we don't do well. Because we have no other choice we must excel.

You are right brother. As an engineer, if I have say maybe a skills in Auto repairs and I want to practice independently, you would expect that as a graduate, I would acquire and work with softwares, have good business plan, dress smart, write and speak big grammar (technical and nontechnical) with client while ensuring that the job is done well grin, grin. That is what would differentiate you from the normal artisans we have on the street. Even in abroad, this is how start up and little tech companies are formed o. Before you know it, you may start rendering services to big companies you even dreamt of working for and charging huge fees.

So for me as graduate, having these fundamental skills we classify as for uneducated can be life saving. Although, we know it easier said than done, but sometimes when you look at how many years some people have spent sending CVs and applying for different jobs without success, you will agree that, removing our pride and devoting time to learn this skills might have made some people independent and off the job market for long. Plus learning these skills doesn't stop you from applying for jobs, going for interviews, e.t.c, all we need to do is identity our interest, remove our pride, mingle with people that are not as educated as us and with prayers, the sky may become the starting point.

Let me chip in some thoughts.

I think social media has really amplified life challenges to be “peculiar” to Nigeria. I smile whenever I see people discussing issues or any challenge and the I hear Nigeria has “failed” us.

Yes, Nigeria is struggling as we have had mixture of good and terrible leaders in between but life happens to everyone irrespective of the country or wherever you are.

Now back to the issue of jobs, the government cannot provide job for over 50m employable Youths. Even the private sector cannot provide that much job in a developing nation. Even a country as developed like US or Canada has millions of Artisans. If you have anyone in these countries, ask them the kind of jobs that’s scattered around. You see plumbers, mechanics, capernters, welders, painters and the likes but ask our Youth to go gain soft skills to make ends meet and you start hearing all sort. The ignorance/arrogance that they are too big for these kind of jobs is alarming.

If you attended Public Varsity in Nigeria, you have no moral right to say “Nigeria hasn’t done anything for me”. Nigeria public university is the cheapest in the world. It’s funny how those we schooled in Ife and paid around 15k per session which is about $50, come out and still lambast the government that gave them “almost free” tertiary education. Go calculate how much Engr, Medicine, Law, Accounting and the likes cost in these foreign universities and you will see Nigeria education is 97% subsidized.

I once read a thread on Twitter where some people in the US were lamenting how they are stuck with student loan they took while pursuing their degree. Imagine owing $120,000 to get a degree, after 7 years of constant monthly repayment you are still owing about $130k. grin Most of you finished University debt free, be grateful to the nation that made it possible. Nigeria has not done anything for you, what have you done for Nigeria?

There are a lot of people going through life challenges everywhere. May we find comfort in every aspect of our life.
Valid points bro.
