if you want to know whether anything is happening there are handles to follow on Twitter or fb..if you waiting to see pics or commentary here you will hardly get anything

Thanks for your reply. I'm just saying if news about the works being carried out by Rochas during his time could find their way to this place, same should happen to works being carried out by Ihedioha. A golden fish has no hiding place.

On a side note, I'll rather some of those works filter in here, because no one can block you for opposing or questioning the works here on Nairaland, unlike FB and Twitter, where the poster can block you if you question the projects.

(Just my opinion, although I won't be oblivious it the facts that FB and Twitter have far reaches)

. You all are spooing Rubbish . After 20 years of democracy in Nigeria Cum IMO state, Orlu has Ruled 16 years. And none of the leaders deemed it fit to develop Orlu. You were all in deep sleep when you all supported Miscreants Uneducated Fools to destroy the state in the person of Rocha's and Udenwa. All of you will suffer with your Oluzurume association of Criminals and. Prppangandarist. Come and take Governor again, the Die is cast. Nonsence. For 16 years you could not develop your shithole called Orlu zone, now you want a zone that sacrificed everything for to be governor to come and develop your shithole ehhh. Ndi iberibe suffering from Iberiberism and will cured by Mr Iberibe

Ekesol, is this really true? (Thanks for the information)

@Kikake, will you now blame Owerri zone if this statements made by Ekesol are true? If Orlu has rules Imo for about 16years, were the governors from Orlu FORCED to concentrate on just Owerri region?

If you say they did it to win election, what of their second tenure when they were not gonna contest again? If they used their first tenure to appease Owerri region so as to win re-election, why didn't they use their second tenure to face their own region since they won't be contesting another re-election?

These are salient points raised by Ekesol

That Ekesol did not merit my response because he spilled rubbish.

Who in Imo state did not see that Okorocha as governor was all about what he would build in Owerri so that he be seen as a good presidential material to succeed Buhari?
In the process, Okorocha built mostly unplanned and unbudgeted vainglory edifices and boulevards in Owerri that were all badly done. Gov Ihedioha is now either rebuilding some of the projects of Okorocha in Owerri, or ignore those beyond mmekwata - beyond repair.

Udenwa did not neglect Orlu zone, as he built many inter-local govt roads across all of Imo state, Udenwa brought a university teaching hospital to Orlu, a modem international market in Orlu, built many urban roads.

Only mistake of Udenwa was not providing durable water supply system as well as not completing work on Orlu drainage project.

But Rochas Okorocha ruined the teaching hospital, never maintained the urban roads, literally closed the roads to the teaching hospital and international market for eight years because of his grudges he had with Orlu many years before he became governor.

If Ekesol was not stupid in his comment, he should have understood that governance is a continuity, so that what previous govts did not do in any part of a state, succeeding governors do them.

But Ekesol sees governor Ihedioha as a person elected to develop only Owerri zone.

Okigwe man.
IMSG has put about N15 billion worth of modern day surface water system, including expensive water pipes, under the grounds of most of the local government areas in your Okigwe zone.
The similar water project planned for Orlu zone is yet to be built.

If the water supply system is restarted now, true development begins in Okigwe zone.
But you would not raise a voice for the Okigwe water supply system be put to use, as you are satisfied with drinking pooh pooh from sachet and bottled water from boreholes, sink boreholes for domestic water. Loads of people and businesses now migrating to Owerri shall comfortably reside in any community in Okigwe zone if the durable water supply system is put to use. No place is a modern town without a durable public water supply system, not boreholes.

Before long, Owerri modern surface water supply system shall return. Your mates from most of Owerri senatorial zone shall start all over again to drink treated pipe borne water, like people in Kano, Kaduna states, in London or New York.
When we clamour for true development outside Owerri, you attack. Others from Owerri who understand that Owerri has shortchanged Orlu and Okigwe call us ugly names for clamouring for basic amenities outside Owerri area.

You publicly deny not coming from Okigwe, but say you are from a community in Okigwe zone. Lol.

But you associate Rochas Okorocha who comes from Ideato with Orlu

A person from Mbaitoli, Ngor Okpala, Ikeduru etc, from Owerri zone can proudly say he is from Owerri - because Owerri is developed city. You deny Okigwe because Okigwe has been made by Imo state to remain a glorified village.
If Okigwe zonal water works was completed and functioned like that of Owerri, by now, Okigwe's urban expansion and modernization would have included that your community in Okigwe zone, the same manner urban expansion in Owerri is extending to far Irete, Naze, Orogwe, Ubomiri, etc. These places were served portable water, shall start all over again soon to be served portable water from Owerri water works.

You blame Rochas for not developing Orlu zone, despite the common knowledge that Rochas was only after the development of state capital because of his now useless belief that more people would see his Owerri development to take him for a good presidential material to succeed Buhari.
You look only backwards and blame past administrations from Orlu over the development projects they failed to do, use that as an excuse to stop the present administration from doing them.

Ihedioha is a well educated man. Above all, a seasoned legislator.
He is not expected to have the mindset of Okorocha.

As for Udenwa, he engaged in development of entire Imo state.
Under Udenwa govt, Okigwe regional surface water supply project was completed. He perhaps, could not have handled the job of Orlu regional surface water supply project at the same time.

Ohakim promised to start work on Orlu zonal water supply system.
Okorocha never supplied one litre of water from public water supply in any Imo community; as a village man, he might have believed families must sink borehole for water.

Ihedioha Pledges Support for SPDC’s Gas Project in Imo State
By
METROWATCH -
December 23, 2019

Imo State Governor, Emeka Ihedioha, has pledge the support of the government and people of the state for the success of the multibillion dollar Assa North/Ohaji South Gas development project.

Speaking during a visit to him in his office last week by the leadership of the Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC), the governor said, “We are determined to work with you to build the plant and to help Imo State fulfil its quota to the nation’s domestic gas aspiration. We are dedicated to making life meaningful for our people and to making Imo State investor friendly. Imo State shall partner with you. We have a civilised state and our hands are wide open to welcome Shell back to your original home in Nigeria.”

SPDC’s Managing Director and Country Chair, Shell Companies in Nigeria, Osagie Okunbor, who led the SPDC delegation, described the gas project in the state as the company’s “most important project right now” adding, “We are committed to making the Assa North Gas Project an exemplary one.”

The project, according to Okunbor, is key to driving the Federal Government of Nigeria’s ambition of marching away from a mono-economy through diverse industrial growth. “It is premier amongst the Seven Critical Gas Projects initiative led by the Ministry of Petroleum and the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC).”

The Assa North/Ohaji South gas project is a joint venture project involving SPDC, Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Total E&P Nigeria Limited (TEPNL), Nigerian Agip Oil Company (NAOC) and SEPLAT, a leading indigenous producer.

SPDC is expected to manage the upstream operations to produce 600 million standard cubic feet of gas per day, half of which will be processed at a new SPDC JV processing plant and the remaining half sent to SEPLAT for processing at the company’s new gas processing plant. The combined volume translates to almost 2,400 MW of potential electricity generation if used for power generation.

At the meeting with the governor were the deputy governor, Gerald Iroha; Chairman of Imo State Oil and Gas Committee, John Ottih; and SPDC’s Directors — Toyin Olagunju and Igo Weli.

As your Green Area in Imo state exists only in Owerri, do you say Imo state, while the once developing towns in Orlu and Okigwe zones are rotting away due to acts of poorly educated governors who foolishly believe that state was created to first develop the state capital?

Abuja gives IMSG monthly allocations to develop the cities and rural areas of the state, the govs do 'see me' development in Owerri, stash away the remaining allocations to their private businesses.
You clap by showing off Owerri.

Are Okorocha and Udenwa still governing Imo state?

Is a governor elected to develop only his senatorial zone?

The only person who looked overwhelmingly clownish and foolish in this discuss is you. Owerri is not capital of Imo State for nothing. The dignitaries and potential investors who visit Imo State are not received in Orlu or Okigwe. If you see Owerri, capital of Imo State, you have seen the entire state. By the way, there is a refinery which near completion in Ohaji and last time I checked, it is in Orlu senatorial district. It is absolute silly envy on your part to keep talking about Owerri.

When was this potable water network of system executed in Owerri? My house in Owerri is still fitted with privately borehole. Which part of Owerri is about served with highly developed and mechanized potable water system? I guess waste water and sewage collection system have been reserved for Owerri.

Owerri water supply is getting ready by gov Ihedioha.

The multi billion Naira water project was built by Mbakwe from Obowo in Okigwe zone, not from Owerri.

Owerri born governor, Evans Enwerem, ought to have started work on finishing touches of Okigwe water project, as well as begin similar water supply project in Orlu zone
.But he NEVER did.

Udenwa completed work on Okigwe water project, but yet to be put on service.

Owerri would never have developed without that water supply system built by Mbakwe, despite state capital.

All Owerri people think is state capital must be developed first by governors, you think every body entering Imo state comes through Owerri. Weird.

If you see ABUJA, you have seen entire Nigeria? Abi?

Mind you, Owerri shall crumble within eight years if any president of Nigeria has your type of mindset and uses most of Nigeria's income to build Abuja to rival the best capital cities in the world, before paying needed attention to other Nigerian cities. You thank your Rochas Okorocha for that mindset, in 8 years, Okorocha arrested development in rest of Imo state outside Owerri area, as he said he was building Owerri state capital.

You people must live to regret how these your primitive mindsets about Owerri state capital made rest of Imo state outside Owerri to remain donkey years of modernity behind Owerri.

When Imo state was created in 1976, there were hardly any differences in the levels of urbanization between Owerri, Orlu and Okigwe.

Please, don't take this as an insult.

People just established a fact that Orlu have ruled Imo state for 16YEARS. Now, during these period, the governors from Orlu REFUSED to develop their region, and you still came around to blame Owerri zone for that. Does that make sense?

Don't tell me that the governors were coerced into doing such for re-election purpose, cos if you do, I'll ask that what about their second term when they were not seeking re-election, why didn't they develop their region during this time?

I believe the problem is with the Orlu zone themselves, there must be something wrong with the zone for governors from the zone not to have developed the zone. Even more surprising is the fact that you guys still voted for Rochas to become a senator, meaning that no matter the wrong you thought he did, you people like it like that.

Now, looking at your recent comments, I was thinking when u say development, you meant REALL DEVELOPMENTAL PROJECTS, but uve been hammering on pipeborne water.

For heaven's sake, if pipeborne water is the problem that Orlu people have, then they don't have problem. Don't worry, I'll pass your message across to relevant authorities and they'll give u guys pipeborne water, while other zones get what they desire also.

In a nutshell, I would be very wrong to blame the strangers if my dad decides not to take care of his family and children and rather spends his time and resources taking care of strangers.

Minister Inspects Waltersmith Modular Refinery In Imo State. Promises Scheduled Take-Off Date

By The Nigerian Voice

December 22, 2019 | Oil & Gas

The Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Chief Timipre Sylva, says the Federal Government will continue to support efforts to ensure the take-off of Waltersmith Modular Refinery by May 2020.

Sylva gave the assurance during an inspection tour of the refinery construction site located in Ohaji/Egbema Local Government Area of Imo State.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the Modular refinery is owned by Waltersmith Petroman Oil Limited and Nigerian Content Development and Management Board (NCDMB 30 per cent).

The Phase one of the modular refinery and the ground breaking ceremony of the Phase two is expected to hold in May 2020.

The modular refinery after completion is expected to deliver 30,000 barrels of petrol products per day.

The Minister said that his visit was to inspect the project which had reached completion status of more than 90 per cent.

“The incorporation of the Modular Refinery component in the existing business concerns of Waltersmith Petroman Oil Limited, is exactly what was envisaged by the Federal Government with marginal fields allocation.”

“The overall expectation was to see indigenous Nigerian Companies do well and the Waltersmith Modular Refinery is a major bright spot which has recently been incorporated into the Nation’s projection for petroleum product sufficiency and availability.” he said.

He further commended the Board and Management of Waltersmith Petroman Oil Limited, and advised that focus should be placed on corporate social responsibility to ensure a sustained and successful relationship with the host community.

He also commended the NCMDB for its role in the execution of the project.

He pedged the commitment of the Federal Government in ensuring that the expected refinery operations commencement date of May 2020, was achieved.

Simbi Wabote, the Executive Secretary, NCMDB said that the partnership the board forged with Waltersmith Petroman Oil Limited had clearly shown the power in public-private investments.

Wabote said that all the necessary mechanisms had been put in place to ensure the full realisation of objectives of the project.

He further noted that the initial partnership with Waltersmith Petroman Oil Limited was stemmed from the quest to achieve President Muhammadu Buhari’s aspiration to improve in-country refined products capacity.

He expressed optimism that the May 2020 completion date of the phase one (5,000 barrels per day), would coincide with the launch of the phase two of the project, targeted at delivering 25,000 barrels per day crude.

According to him, the modular refinery will deliver crude and condensate that will produce gasoline, diesel, LPG, kerosene and aviation fuel.

Also, the Chairman of Waltersmith Petroman Oil Limited, AbdulRazaq Isa, said that the fundamental reasons for embarking on the project included, but not limited to crude loss resulting from crude handling and the cost of crude transportation from the marginal fields owned by Waltersmith Petroman Oil Limited.

He noted that the project owners had worked assiduously to ensure the phase one delivery timeline which had been pegged at 18 months.

According to him, the phase one is expected to contribute about 271 million litres of refined products including Diesel, Naphtha, HFO and Kerosene annually to the domestic market.

“It will create both direct and indirect jobs particularly within the host communities,’’ he said.

In his presentation, the Managing Director /Chief Executive Officer of Waltersmith Petroman Oil Limited, Chikezie Nwosu, commended the partnership of the NCDMB in the project.

He noted that the 30,000 barrels per day was a partnership between Waltersmith and NCDMB with the board providing major guidance and contributions on Nigerian Content, Technical and Commercial issues and Corporate Governance.

He recalled that the FID for the Refinery Project was taken in September 2018 with an 18-month Delivery time from November 2018 to May 2020, for Phase 1.

My broda, no town develops into a modern city without a sustainable public water supply system.

People have continued till today to migrate from Orlu and Okigwe zones to Owerri because Owerri has been having a sustainable public water supply system since the mid 1980s. The water supply system of Owerri stopped around 2011 due to lack of maintenance by bad leadership, yet people continue to build in Owerri with boreholes, with the hope that before long, a good governor shall restore Owerri public water supply system. Ihedioha is doing it now.
Perhaps it's only you who do not know this.
I like your take on bastardized leaders who failed in the last years to provide sustainable public water supply system for all of Imo state, and that only an equally bastardized governor can follow their footsteps. Hopefully gov Ihedioha does not join the bastardized leaders' gang.
