You are always yarning okoto meow meow skrr....some of you guys here are always angry when a Nigerian player doing well is hyped here. Like who does that? Don’t you guys read foreign tabloids?

Who are Nigerians supposed to hype and talk about if not our young talented guys that made it from the streets to the European scene. These guys are our success story. We have seen foreigners and their media hype their mediocre players to high heaven, why can’t you guys allow us do same?

The Increased Importance of Kelechi Iheanacho at Leicester (Will Grow the More He Plays)

By Ewan Murray
10 JAN 2020

Not too long ago, Kelechi Iheanacho looked like he was on his way out of Leicester. His dwindling influence for the Foxes, alongside his significant cuts in game time, left the Nigerian in a very difficult position, seemingly with a club that deemed him as surplus to requirements.

Fast-forward a few months and he is in a very different situation.

Arriving in Man City's youth system as a teenager, the youngster found himself ousted from the Etihad following the arrival of Gabriel Jesus in 2017, forcing the striker to seek a career away from Manchester in the following transfer window. Arriving in the east Midlands with a sizeable price tag over his head and a damn good goalscoring record, expectations were high.

But, as is the way for so many young and talented Premier League players, things failed to materialise on the pitch. All the excitement surrounding the former City starlet soon dissipated, replaced with a sense of unbridled anger at the small fortune that was spent on a 'flop'.

Under Claude Puel, Iheanacho looked disinterested. Perhaps merely short of confidence, or lacking faith in his boss, the 23-year-old seemed unwilling to exert a morsel of effort as soon as he stepped over the byline. His goal tally suffered, leading many at the King Power to ponder if his days with the Foxes were coming to an end before they had even really started.

However, Brendan Rodgers' arrival spelled a new chapter for Iheanacho, and Leicester. Riding the wave of the Foxes' current success, the striker – like so many others around him is thriving under the tutelage of his new manager. Suddenly, the forward has his swagger back and his clinical nature in front of goal has resurfaced.

Most recently scoring a crucial leveller in the Carabao Cup semi-final against Aston Villa, Iheanacho's influence is growing rapidly. Goals against Luton Town and Burton Albion got him going, and further Premier League strikes against the Villans, Everton and West Ham means the Nigerian has been directly involved in eight goals in as many games.

But there is more to come from Iheanacho. While it is futile to try and displace Jamie Vardy from the Leicester side, there is certainly still a place for the forward in Rodgers' team.

Either as a 'super sub' or a partner to Vardy operating more toward the left flank, Iheanacho can help Leicester continue their fine season. His hold-up play and decision making are improving, and his ability in front of goal is unquestionable. More than anything, Rodgers has got him running again and, while he will never be as ferocious and industrious as Vardy, he can certainly support the ageing 32-year-old.

Iheanacho's place in the squad is now assured, but the new five at the back system Rodgers has implemented in recent games may impact the striker's minutes on the pitch. At only 23 years of age, Iheanacho could be the heir to Vardy's throne - despite being a very different player indeed - and, as a result, needs to hone his craft now and not simply when Vardy retires.

With an electric pair of shooting boots and a presence in the box, one thing is for sure: Iheanacho has all that is needed to succeed at Leicester. It all now hinges on how much Rodgers trusts him to help guide the Foxes in to a new and exciting era.

But seriously though, why would Liverpool be looking at Chukwueze as backup to Mane and Salah in attack when they got Xherdan Shaqiri and Origi? Add Minamino too who can play in Firmino's role and take either of Salah's or Mane's.

Chuks to Liverpool is not happening no matter how Klopp may admire him unless one of Salah or Mane leaves. Period.

Even if one of them leaves, a showboater isn't the perfect solution.

Am very happy for this Lad. I remember a match he played when he was in Man City, The commentators were ecstatic not about the goal scored by Sergio Aguero, but by the vision of Iheanacho in laying the pass across goal. Good times ahead for us.

If OptaJoe didnt surface, im sure many would still be underrating our own footballers, promising, active, young or prime. Its bad. Very bad.

Dunno if its familiarity or whatever.... But you see a fellow nigerian doing well and just drag him down when he should deserve praise for his performance.

If opta no dey, im sure the Ndidi arguments wouldave been so bad as to even tag it tribalism for those in support of him.

Hmmm

We go dey alright.

Nobody is dragging any fellow Nigerian down. The one's we praise like Ndidi, Osimhen, Ekong are worth it because they're doing well and actually improving. If Villarreal had a better option, Chuks won't be starting

LOL. That line stood out for me as well

Man boldly said "...he will NEVER be as ferocious or industrious as Vardy..." As if Vardy is prime Ronaldo. What was Vardy doing with himself at 23? These Brits will always find a way to drag others and glorify their own, even when the article should be straightforward.

Very smug. "He will never be as good as vardy". Is he a prophet? These white guys forget how many times the same lukewarm player had to safe their asses this season while their optimus prime (Vardy) was on the pitch for 90mins

I don't know what anyone else thinks but I don't think Chukwueze's move to Liverpool will be good for him. We don't want another Mancity-Iheanacho-like episode.

Chukwueze has a better chance in clubs like Manu and Arsenal. Cos to me he is better than all those our Saka and Nelson.
You are very correct. Manu or Arsenal need Chukwueze more than other top PL clubs. But will sentiment allow them broaden their search for players like him? I doubt.

To be frank, I wouldn't want him to come to Chelsea as at the moment.

Yes Lampard gives young lads opportunity but he is a typical British. He would rather play CHO or Mount week in week out.

Lampard has such a huge squad but he narrowed it down to few individuals.

true true going to a club like Arsenal or Chelsea would give Samuel a good platform to showcase himself and improve as well.

I also agree with you the managers of these clubs would provide Samuel with the necessary guidance and at times required tough love that should help him straighten out his game and begin to fulfill his potential.

Infact we never even shout Chuks reach we just dey start

Foden is not overrated bro ,he is just a normal player

We all know the British as the king of overrating a player ,maybe if foden is playing regular I would have agree with you

The bolded is nonsensical and wrongly overused plus very funny. Chuks displaced top senior Villarreal Players like Nicola Sansone to get his spot on that team. Villarreal have seen the likes of Javi Ontiveros, Moi Gomez tried out in Chuks' role and these are talented players but Chuks still edges them all. Chuks is there and making impact because he is simply one of the best players at Villarreal and the best youngster to have come through their youth ranks in recent years.

If we go by your funny logic... Then it also means Gnabry starts for Bayern because they have found no one better. Tammy does it for Chelsea because they have found no one better... Even Messi (Thanks BascoVanVeli) does it for Barca too because they have found no one better! Period.

There is no quality young player you get get for that amount that is even half as good as Arturo Vidal
