It seems the stress in Canada is comparable to that of Nigeria, though in a different way.

It looks like a case of one stress, relocated to another type of stress considering what I am reading here.

Does it worth it coming to Canada.

Someone should tell me the truth

Sorry for my question please.

I am processing my entry into Canada. But from my reading here, it seems like even in Canada one goes through stress.

Is it a case of one stress in naija (security, power, etc) to another stress in Canada (Cold, expenses, taxes etc)

I am beginning to wonder if the relocation to Canada worth it.

Someone should tell me the truth please

It's actually worth it.

Especially for your kids

They will have both passports and can settle anywhere

There is no truth to be told here, Canada is a place to work hard and hustle, else...you will SUFFER grin grin grin grin
on a serious note, you simply need a lot of research done, What do you and your partner wanna do when you get here ?
what qualifications do you have ?
what qualifications are accepted here for the job you intend to do ?
Are you willing to become a student again ?
Are there certifications you need to take..
On the short run, thing might be tough but you simply need to keep your eyes on the prize.
I advise friends to start writing their professional exams(CIA and CISA for Auditing) from naija ( a mistake i made), interestingly no one has listened to me so far, I am presently working part time and writing my exams also.
is it easy ?......HELL NO, but i have my eyes on the prize and will do whatever i need to to get the certifications.( 2 stages down....2 to go)

In summary, No 2 stories are the same, luck/destinies are different , the opportunities here are so much and they defy age, gender or religious barriers.
It all depends on you.

To answer your question in one sentence, Yes, it is worth it.

Is there stress in Canada? Yes, there is.

Is the stress in Canada comparable to Nigeria's? No

Why is there stress in Canada? Because there is no free money in Canada.

It is very very recognized.
you will see CPA on 10 out of 10 internal audit vacancies
you will see CIA and/or CISA on 8 out of 10 internal audit vacancies
you will CISA alone on 1 out of 10 internal audit vacancies.

you could also check glassdoor.ca , so you will see for your self and make and objective decision.

Hi, ladystone

Although I'm not a Calgary yet but let me try contribute to your enquiry based on guidance I have received from wonderful elders/seniors.

I would suggest you consider Calgary South West/Downtown first for ease of movement/getting public transport to place you may want to go as a newcomer. South East possibly your second best but it depends - some place there are far too.

Calgary North West is not really advisable for a newcomer as it's a new, though fast developing area and it might not be that easy getting public transport to places you need to be.

Calgary North East - nothing to say about this except that I once read that some neighbourhoods there are particularly notorious in a negative sense and newcomers moving around at night in those neighbourhoods?

NB: Experienced Calgarians, please correct me, if any wrong notion in this post

Thanks a million for your detailed response @Dr.Ekpekus!

I really appreciate.

Ekpekus:

Apologies for the late response..
In regards to the questions:
1. There is no bridging program for IMGs as seen with the Nurses
2. Pathways will be hugely dependent on your background..
Clinical pathway.. Residency, Practice Readiness, Physician/Surgical Assistant and these varies from Province to province
Non Clinical pathways can be further divided into two viz: regulated and unregulated..
For the regulated non clinical pathways: sonography, Emergency Responder, Nursing, Pathology Assistant, Physiotherapist, OT, Naturopathic etc
Unregulated non clinical: Research Assistant, Health educator, Transcriptionist, Health Care Aide, hospital clerk etc

Now the decision would be solely individualized as it fit one's long and short term plan, coupled with family and province of resident.

I hope this help

Hello Guys!

My name is etrange.

I'd want to know, is there anything like part-time schooling in Canada (weekend classes)?

I've always planned to start school once I land but with the way I'm getting unsolicited massages from both recruiters and HR teams requesting for job chats, it seems I'd go straight to work. But then again, I still got my mind on school. How do I combine these?

Note: the jobs are full time.

Please guys, I am married, have a daughter. I want to start the PR progress as a single applicant. Then if successful, will sponsor my family after two or three years to join. Hope it wouldn't cause any issue with PR

You'll apply as spouse unaccompanying...not single..

Applying as single means you have never been married which means you can't sponsor them in the future..

Why applying alone though ? You can apply together as long as your wife can write IELTS and get her credentials evaluated.. even if you don't want them to join you now, they'll do a soft landing, get their PR card and leave.. Then return may be in two years time or whenever while you stay and hustle...this will save you the stress of sponsorship.

all the best

Hi guys, please I have been driving here in Nigeria for about a year and a few months but i have not been able to get a license yet. I have seen from some posts that licenses below two years won't be accepted for use in Canada. So should I just not bother about getting one anymore or do I have anyother alternative or just to do their entire driving process from scratch when I get there?
there is no need getting it in Nigeria. you'll still start from the scratch in Canada.

Any family living in Mississauga with kids here? Just want to know if you’ve had good experiences so far with kids schooling, work and life generally. Would really appreciate your responses.

Hi, I lived in Mississauga for a year (an apartment building in Erindale, one of the neighborhoods there) with my family and it was very nice for us. My kids went to elementary (primary) school in the neighborhood, we had a shopping centre just a walking distance from us, had multiple banks opposite my building. Doctor's clinic also opposite us and barber shop next door. Erindale GO station down the road from my building so I was easily able to go to work by train in downtown Toronto. Wife worked opposite the Go Station with an American financial institution, the babe was bossing life very happily smiley

https://www.realestate-ontario.com/mississauga/erindale/

Moved to my house in Brampton and lived there for about 3 years in the Credit Valley neighborhood. Another great neighborhood and a fantastic investment for me. Nice, diverse neighborhood with lovely neighbors from all over the world. 2 green parks close by, elementary school in a walking distance, multiple shopping locations and health facilities in close proximity. Brampton GO station just 7 minutes drive away. Was quite fortunate in hitting the jackpot twice with the locations where I lived smiley

https://www.inbrampton.com/top-5-brampton-neighbourhoods-to-invest-in

My advise would be to research the particular neighborhood you're considering living in any city, look online to see what info is available, check the ranking of the elementary schools in the neighborhood, drive around there in the evenings to see things for yourself and hopefully, you'll find something great. All the best ahead.
