2023 resembles 1979 in so many ways. Like they say, history always repeat itself. Humans are animals of habit, study and follow a people history and you can pretty much predict their moves.

In 1979, following Return Of Democracy, the Yoruba (Awolowo) felt the North should reward them with the presidency for their role in siding the North during the war.
Of course the North don't share or relinquish power, so they quickly broke alliance with the Yorubas and started Courting Ndiigbo.
Yorubas were thinking Ndiigbo will not accept the North, not knowing we see Yorubas in same light as the North, if not worse because both were partners in the war.
Zik and our political leaders then were wise Igbo men. They chose the position of neutrality, while the Yoruba and North were hustling for our support as they both picked Igbo VP, Alex Ekwueme for Shagari and Phillip Umeadi for Awolowo, we ditched them both and floated Zik. Zik lost but his party formed a coalition with Ruling party and the Igbo got juicy positions.

Now same scenario is at play. The Yorubas feel the North should compensate them with presidency after their role in GEJ ouster in 2015, the North as expected has no plans or giving power to Yorubas. It just dawned on Yorubas that they are not getting the presidency after Buhari, so they started media war against Buhari government, it didn't work, then they are coming up with this Amotekun gambit.

The North as expected are looking to fill the Yoruba vacuum with Ndiigbo, and are already subtly courting the Igbo. The Yorubas are trying to act innocent using the herdsman issue to win over sentimental Igbos who are yet to understand the power game at play .

Now these are the real behind the scenes issues. It's a power tussle between two former bed fellows, with the 2023 presidency at stake.

Now before I go into what Ndiigbo should do and why we should do that. A little background check on both past bed fellows cum warring factions will be expedient.

THE YORUBA ISSUE.

Yorubas are not our friends, infact they are worst than the Arewa they are maligning. After 8 years of Obasanjo presidency and 8 years of Osibanjo Vice presidency, that Yorubas are still eyeing the presidential position while Ndiigbo have been waiting on the line is a testament to the callousness of this group and their lack of consideration of justice and equity, just like their Arewa competitors.
If they are our friends, then they would not be talking about Yoruba presidency in 2023, they would be rallying the non existent Southern Nigeria behind Igbo presidency in 2023 by insisting the North had over to an Igbo man.
This altruistic gesture would be fairness, justice and equity and would unite the Southern Nigeria, the Union would be solidified by even reaching out to ethnic Northern Minorities for the VP position.
A political coalition of SS, SE, SW and NC would be enough to keep the Hausa-Fulani in check just a while longer, while we plan on way forward.

But these people are politically ruthless and have no room for fairness, so they reason they are well within right to go after the presidency position. They owe the Igbos nothing they feel. Igbos can go to hell they reason.

While you can't fault them for looking out for their own selfish interests, as I would want Igbos to start doing same. You would have to be livid with tactless Igbos who are too slow to read the script and are already falling for their Amotekun Trojan horse. I'm highly disappointed in NK and IPOB on this, though I had over sometime now come to expect very little exbhition of strategic thinking, planning and actions from IPOB.

The Yorubas are well within rights to use whatever tactics at their disposal to go at the Arewa, but it's our duty as Igbos to recognize treachery when we see one and do well to not make ourselves easy pawns in their political games aimed at our own political demise.

THE AREWA

The Arewa are not our friends either. They have a long term goal of total domination of Nigeria, but as expected, they are long term planners and are not going to force this at ago. It's going to be a long term process, so if we get our house in order, we can also plan long term to counteract them.
To achieve their long term goals. They realize they have to keep Nigeria united, and this can only be achieved by carrying everyone along .
The Arewa realize the Igbos are stake holders in Nigeria Unity project just as Yorubas are. So they will seek to rotate the crumbs between the three political blocs in the south, just enough to keep all the elites there feeling they are influential, and enough to keep the animosities between the blocs strong enough to avoid them from ganging up against them.
I feel having picked VP from SS in 2007, VP from SW in 2015 and 2019, they have already decided the Next VP will be from SE. You get the feeling that the current happening in Imo state governorship is somehow tied to this. But I'm just yet to figure how it fits into the whole matrix.

Pazienza could you recall that I made this statement as far back as 2015, but the IPOB henchmen all called for my head. Some even went as far as threaten my life. Many people are realizing this very late. IPOB was formed to empower our neighbours and limit Ndigbo to a minority status.
A new charismatic pan-Igbo must be formed to give Ndigbo a clear headway, socially, politically and economically in pre and post Nigeria. IPOB's aim is to keep us wandering in the wilderness. The truth must be said.

@ the bolded; I"m surprised that you've not realized that Nnamdi Kanu and his IPOB goons are thoughtless and anti-Igbo interest? He, Kanu has even stated on numerous occasion in his useless broadcasts, that he's not Igbo, but a Biafran who happens to speak the Igbo language. He says this just to curry favours from those "Igbophobic" minorities of the SS, which he intends to co-opt into his Biafra. Thesame person that will lambaste Igbo leaders, ask for financial support from Igbos in diaspora and at home, will never seek for financial support from the so called minorities of SS.
Kanu is even offering Igbo youths to join Amotekun, without thinking it through. Unfortunately, many Igbos of today have become thoughtless and lack wisdom in terms of how they navigate the socio-political landscape of Nigeria. Many are doing this just to appease their non-Igbo friends/audience. These days, I just adopt the look and wait approach. The coming of these IPOB clowns and their tactless leader, whom they regard as "supreme leader" is starting to look like a thorn on the "Igbo flesh"

I have news for you because it seems you cannot reason well, the Igbo are wiser than you think, and your brainwashing tactics stop at this page. Nobody reads your very long nonsense post filled with hate politics anymore, you tell and respond to yourself while the rest of the igbo laugh at your northern jargon.

Kanu and IPOB will go to Igbo cultural organizations and town hall meetings asking for Igbo diaspora emotional support and financial commitment for Biafra. They will not go to town hall meetings of Ibibio, Ijaw, Igala, Urhobo, and all the other minorities they intend to co-opt into their misguided heterogeneous Biafra to ask for support because they know what the scores over there are.
But they are quick to denounce Igbo interests in other to accommodate the minorities.
They hope to create a new Biafran identity where we would have to give up our Igbo identity and interests to accommodate minorities, but they want to create this Biafra only through Igbo sacrifices and denigration even from the minorities.

IPOB and NK are dead weights to the Igbo unless they reconsider their current modus operandi. More and more Igbos will come to realize this.

You don't get allies by weakening your own camp, no one wants to be allied with weaklings.
You get allies by making yourselves so strong that powerless groups would come seeking for your protection.
Licking the faeces off Yoruba and minorities and sacrificing Igbo interests in the process while pandering to their's (Minorities interests) will never earn us allies. It will weaken us, while strengthening those minorities. And when they are strong, they will have no need for alliance with a weak Igbo. Alliances are built for group benefits. A weak Igbo has nothing to offer themselves, let alone minorities. This should be common sense.

We will gain allies when we put Igbo interests first and foremost, even if it means the demise of other groups. When we put Igbo interests first, we would pursue those interests at all cost, and when this is done, the Igbo will become strong again, and in time, the needed allies will come to Enugu and bend the knee! It's that simple.

And yet our leaders and Igbo intelligentsia's are keeping quiet about these events? While Radio Biafra still supercharges and proselyte more radical zombies. Is it until an army of unintelligent and brainwashed goons destroy us that we'll begin to challenge Kanu's narratives. It's obvious some Igbo politicians connive with outsiders to secretly sponsor the activities of this group just to shut out their political rivals, but non is thinking about the lasting damage it will inflict on us.
One thing is sure, Nnamdi Kanu has succeeded in tainting the original Biafra ideals into something monstrous and sinister, that many Igbo's are beginning to cast doubts about the intentions of Biafra.
The worst thing, however is that the movement began in the diaspora, and is evident that a lot of our disaporan brothers who form an illiterate migrant population finances IPOB activities and completely get their news sources from the supreme leader.
If nothing is done to counter the zionist narratives of Nnamdi Kanu, the Igbo nation will be lost forever. A man whose house is on fire, does not go about chasing rats.

For Nnamdi kanu to rush and declare support for Amotekun shows he has clearly lost his senses and to add I million volunteers shows he is a fool at 40

I don't like to agree with people but I don't want any unnecessary opinion to Influence me because I am not easily influenced. The person must try hard to really convince me.

That said. In Nigeria project Igbos should learn how to tactically deal with issues and not always carrying every single issues on their head.

Many of you will rush to cybersace/social media tell who cares to listen that Fulani is the enemy and Yorubas our friend *nd yorubas must know that we are not their enemies.....what a tragedy of gigantic propose.

What you think is logical is not practical and can never be ethical let alone desired.

Tactlessness won't achieve anything for you. On what ground will someone support amotekun and someone will even say go to court.

But I clearly listened to Olasupo on channesl TV who was debating alongside Miyetti spokesman person saying that we need to revisit our constitution and do a total overhaul to clearly accomodate all these issues.

Trying to tell miyetti that amotekun can function why legislation follows is like pouring water on stone.

In essence nobody is your enemy or friend and stop chasing shadows.

Carrying another's man pro-security on your head simply shows how tactless you are.

I am fully aware that if this program was in SE, yorubas will be the one quoting the whole constitution for you both on TVC and Channels TV and why it shouldn't stand.

Instead of tagging one person your enemy while not hold all of them same way you regard each of them.

As someone who have always supported IPOB, I have finally come to this conclusion.

IPOB is anti-igbo interest. I have to eat the humble pie and admit that I was very wrong about the consequences of IPOB.

I have finally come to the point in my adulthood where nothing matters to me more than igbo interest and most importantly the Development of Igboland.

I started out years ago a pro-multi ethnic Biafra because I misjudged that igbos and the surrounding minorities share common interests.

But my journey with my IPOB support has made me go through various phases to reassess what matters the most to me.

But I will always thank IPOB for unknowingly leadIng me to realize that we IGBOS have no allies in Nigeria and that we IGBO have to focus on ourselves and our interest.
