Hilarious kinda still mean funny.

Well, they are mostly same old recycled sh!t. Just hook up with them every once in a while just for the local Comedy or jokes. It's not Everytime I oversoak myself in American or British comedy.

Midway(2019)..7.5/10
Genre: Action, Drama, History

Dialogue & acting were convincingly delivered, special effects were quite good, even the fast paced scenes, the story was amazingly told, it had 3 historical events( attack on pearl harbor, doolittle Tokyo air raid and battle of midway) fused together, to bring about the greatest naval battle in history on moving pictures.
Now i have an inkling why the 10 actual US Carriers are impenetrable, destroy those carriers & you've won the war on the naval front. After the havoc the Japanese wreaked at Pear Harbor, irrespective of the US being neutral at that point in time, I'd have gladly said they deserved Hiroshima and Nagasaki. But menh, dropping atomic bombs & killing 90,000 to 146,000 people on Hiroshima and 39,000 to 80,000 on Nagasaki, was a step taken too far IMHO.

bros this your review get k leg o.

the only commendable thing about that film were cinematography and action vfx, nothing more.

the script was fallacious. it made US navy looked impenetrable when in actual history japanese navy came very close to invading california.

nuking japan was necessary because at that time, the dreaded japanese kamikaze had sunk US warships, and damaged more. the US navy was hemorrhaging and it was either nuke japan or lose the pacific.

Lolz, about the Carriers being impenetrable, i wasn't referring to the events in the movie, i meant as in presently. The Carriers they have presently are almost impenetrable, cause they know any direct hit to any of those Carriers will cause an unimaginable cataclysmic event.

And again, i don't think the script was fallacious, from what I've read online, i think that's approximately 90% of what actually happened. The Us for the first time, knew they stood little or no fighting chance against the Japanese. Go back & rewatch the movie, after the attack at Perl Harbor the US Navy was demobilized, they had just one carrier as against the Japs 3 carriers. They won the war on the naval front as a result of the surprise strategy they employed, while the Japs lost cause of their over confidence.

nuking japan was necessary because at that time, the dreaded japanese kamikaze had sunk US warships, and damaged more. the US navy was hemorrhaging and it was either nuke japan or lose the pacific.
Yup, that was one of the main reasons. I also think the events at Perl Harbor also spured the dropping of those nukes.

I'm gonna check this one soon when I'm through with the remainder top Trending Blockbusters released late last year. The DVDSCR quality scared me away when I first saw it and it was only on one website, so I just press brake. grin
Well, dunno but the US kinda got served after Pearl Harbor. They were consistently implored to join the war by their closest Ally Britain to save them but they refused. And at the time America was having a bloody economic boom and reluctant for war.

Mehn, that Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombing ehn no be here oo. The nightmare sef no be here.
And well, the US were kinda in their right after Pearl Harbor to bomb Japan cause at that time that was the biggest disaster/defeat the US military/Navy ever experienced. It's just the number of civilian deaths were absurd.

Which Carriers are you referring to? The ones US possessed that time in the film or presently?
Well the US heavily depends on it's Carriers way more than any military in the world. You crush them and they run scared of war.

Am telling you, the events at Pearl Harbor really dealt a close to knockout punch to the US, and Hiroshima and Nagasaki was a sort of retaliatory strike.

It's tough but anyone amongst Russia or China who has Hypersonic glide missiles will take those Carriers out without much trouble. That's if the will to use it is there or provoked.

China even has DF-21 "Carrier Killer" missile specially made with US carriers in mind. Same as Russia with it's hypersonic Oniks missiles and the other one I've forgotten it's name.

A carrier doesn't wander off alone by its self, they are often in a group, and the group consists of two guided-missile cruisers, two destroyers, one frigate, two submarines & a supply ship. Any of these vessels would gladly take the bullet for the Carrier. Considering the cost of a carrier & its being a nuclear powered vessel, i don't think it's going to be an easy or any kill at all.

Plz don't insult my precious Spiderman.
Every Spiderman film has a new villain with a different motivation.
You cannot compare Mysyerio to Dr Octopus or Vulture to Green Goblin.

Yes Spiderman films follow the typical save the world storyline typical of superhero films but every new movie is different from the other story-wise.

2 movies already and none of Tom Holland films mirrored Tobey's films storyline the way Dark fate is recycling stories.

You don't even understand my question about Avengers.

Imagine Marvel doing Infinity saga again but this time replacing Thanos with Dr Doom and bringing in New characters to replace old ones.
Recycling and re-branding a infinity war and endgame story.
How would you expect Marvel fans to feel about that?

Answer it and stop dodging

Yea yea, I know what a "Carrier Battle Group" is, that's why i said it will be tough. But recent advanced hypersonic missiles are far advanced and possess capabilities we thought were alien to it. Latest advanced missiles from Russia and China can tell the difference from a Large Destroyer, Frigate from an Aircraft Carrier and Corvette/ OPV. It's their hypersonic speeds which makes it difficult for ships Air defences to take them out, possessing speeds of Mach 6 and above.

The Russian versions are Super fast— the fastest and very agile, manuevreable and flexible it can Dodge interception missiles itself. That's why they use low-high-low operability— in the sense that they travel very low (sea level) to avoid detection of Air defense Radars. Follow and use terrain as a low detection maneuvre.

And who says you need to send just one or two missiles. Just send them in barrages(mostly for the Chinese). A dozen or two should be able to do the damage— I bet the Russian missiles will do that with less missiles involved(Russian Brahmos missiles can even work in pairs and designate which platforms or assets to attack first! If the Destroyers and Frigates are taken out, the carrier is a sitting duck). Their missile systems far outclasses the US anywhere in the world.

The fear of the Yakhont or Brahmos missile is the beginning of Naval Wisdom. grin

From the Trailers I've seen I'm definitely going to enjoy this one. Thunder fire critics say. They can go to hell.

I love flicks about WW II air battles most especially if it's laced with some level of actual events. grin

It's the land based WW I/II movies with Tanks and infantry soldiers I hate or dislike cos they mostly boring to me— especially if there's no Tank Battles, that's a let down.

Oga no dey whine me. In terms of military systems/weapons and some level of military tactics I'm very conversant with that.

I've been following Military Systems or related stuff since my teen years— that's the primary reason I even have a nairaland account, just to see conversations on the military threads. I was obsessed with military systems back then, even my friends find my love for weaponry and military stuffs weird. I was also a member of the defunct BEEGEAGLES-BLOG, just cos of my obsession.
That's where I learnt most things about military and became very savvy with military relations or related stuff.

Lol, most of those Based on a True Life Story shit they paste on movies are full of fiction and alternative facts/ writing.

The most those movies can get in actual facts is not up to 50%.

From American Sniper, Captain Phillips to Conjuring to Platoon to Black Hawk Down and all the most they've got in facts is a poor over 40%.

It just has a tinge of suspense, excitement and enjoyment laced to it just cause of the True Life Story shtick.

Your grammar and your incoherent use of technical words are the reason i know you do not know what you are talking about.

You wrote a technically wrong grammatically correct post.

Just yesterday, i had to research the WW1 (not even WW2) for like the hundredth time simply because I was mediating on it and muddled up the military alliance sequences that blew everything out of proportion.

I am also a weapons and military enthusiastic, when I see someone who is writing about what he knows, I know!
