Glad to see this thread discussing other movies than being their regular comic nerdy selves. I love the diversity although the comment above me had to derail from the flow

Guy don't let any crossover mislead you again..the whole CW click from Arrow to Legend of Tomorrow are trash and i don't see any headway..Arrow's case is the most annoying, they have jumped to Arrow's kids time line, tho this is the last season i practically don't give a hoot about how it ends at this point..so next time G even if the entire Justice league combined with MCU's or even Kratos is appearing in the CW crossover..stay clear for your data and time sake.

My 2020 Top 10 Fated/potential Blockbuster Movie FLOPS ................................what's yours??

Every year has it's Winners and Losers at the box office. Some blockbusters which look like surefire bets at times turn out FLOPS; some are Fated to flop, some just outright disappoint and turn flops. Without further ado, here's my "potential FLOP" list in no particular order.
NB: It's just predictions and necessarily doesn't mean it'll turn out exactly as predicted. Just for fun and general Box office outlook.

Sonic: The Hedgehog..... (Paramount)
Just seems Fated to flop, even moreso after it's extra expenses in redesign of Sonic after fans backlash on an estimated $90mn production budget.

Bloodshot....... (Sony)
This looks like an outright FLOP from the Valiant Comics adaptation. Nothing spectacular to draw general public in. Not even Vin Diesel can save it.

The New Mutants ......(Fox/Disney)
This one is a Bloody FLOP with it's numerous change in release dates (4 times)— something we could have seen since 2018! Disney seems Fated to continue losing on this Fox buyout for a while.

Artemis Fowl ....... (Disney)
Looking like a potential FLOP.

Fantasy Island ........ (Sony)
Potential FLOP.

Ghostbusters: Afterlife ...... (Paramount)
Outright FLOP in the making!

Monster Hunter ....... (Sony Screen Gems)
Gonna FLOP. Game adaptations for live action movie have a history of not doing too well at the box office. Even the Director of this movie have a not so glamorous game adaptation history. Although things might be different for Sony's December "Uncharted" movie starring Tom Holland.

Coming To America 2 ......... (Paramount)
Possesses some potential FLOP vibes, coming after 32 years for a sequel! And Eddie Murphy's lost his box office mojo/clout.

GI Joe: Ever Vigilant .......(Paramount)

Possesses outright FLOP vibes.

Dune .......... (Warner Bros.)
Potential FLOP especially since the first live action adaptation was a Flop. I'm hard pressed to include this in my LIST. I honestly don't see it as an outright flop but maybe a lesser disappointment cause of it's Killer CAST. That CAST alone is "Butt in Seats" guaranteed, also Denis Villeneuve has some critical pedigree. Even the release date pushed to December holidays makes it a likely HIT, with slight competition in a season with no Star Wars or clear Box office Juggernaut except The Croods 2.

PS: I just feel this is the most likely WB blockbuster movie to be a FLOP— even a better candidate Flop than Kong vs Godzilla. I just included it to make it more Transparent, objective and seemingly Unbiased.

** Seems Universal escaped...hmmm. it's looking like a super duper YEAR for Universal. IMHO. OOH I FORGOT DOLITTLE, it's out already and a FLOP TOO.

Homophobic third world countries like Nigeria don't give them most of their sales.

Dialogue & acting were convincingly delivered, special effects were quite good, even the fast paced scenes, the story was amazingly told, it had 3 historical events( attack on pearl harbor, doolittle Tokyo air raid and battle of midway) fused together, to bring about the greatest naval battle in history on moving pictures.
Now i have an inkling why the 10 actual US Carriers are impenetrable, destroy those carriers & you've won the war on the naval front. After the havoc the Japanese wreaked at Pear Harbor, irrespective of the US being neutral at that point in time, I'd have gladly said they deserved Hiroshima and Nagasaki. But menh, dropping atomic bombs & killing 90,000 to 146,000 people on Hiroshima and 39,000 to 80,000 on Nagasaki, was a step taken too far IMHO.

Just bare it in mind it wasn't 100% accurate in terms of how History wrote it. You're getting a 50-50 facts & fiction movie. Have that at the back of your mind, so you don't get disappointed.

abduleez1, Alexander Ludwig Aka Bjorn Ironside starred in Midway.

Lolz, well spoken boss. The crossover event was a waste of precious MB & time, am definitely going to pass next time.

The most annoying thing is that CW are now gunning for feminist orientated shows nowadays. First it was Supergirl(I couldn't even finish episode 1 of the very first season), followed by LOT, they chased Rip Hunter & made Sarah Lance the lead, they tried same in the Flash by making Iris West the flash, that particular episode became the worst throughout the series, next was Batgirl (I never & will never see this one), the last straw that broke the Carmels' back was the latest episode on Arrow.

At this point, i give up on every superhero series CW has to offer.

I said i should ask, cause am quite confused. In Vikings (series) is kingship by inheritance or conquest/duel, taking Kattegat as a case study.

** Seems Universal escaped...hmmm. it's looking like a super duper YEAR for Universal. IMHO. OOH I FORGOT DOLITTLE, it's out already and a FLOP TOO.

Nice write up, however, I disagree on some movies in your list;

1. Coming to America: Though, the sequel is coming out yearsss after the main movie, people will still come out to watch it for these reasons;
a) People loved the first movie
b) Eddie Murphy was amazing in "Dolemite is my name" and i believe this has rejuvenated his BO clout.

With a good story that still finds a way to attach itself to the first film, good marketing campaign and quality acting, this movie will be successful

2. Dune: This movie will not flop, and here is why.
a)Dune is seen as the star wars for matured audience and have attracted a lot of interest from people, especially SW fans. Of late, star wars fans haven't been too impressed with the childish stuff disney is dishing out and are highly intrigued.
b) It has a good script and i believe the studio has learnt from its mistakes made in the 80s dune...The first dune that came out in the 80s was a flop because of the bad script and the studio trying to squeeze the whole story into one film back then..This time around, it will have a good script and be broken down into a trilogy for better assimilation from its viewers.
c) The Xmas season will definitely boost its BO legs..Just like TROS benefited from the season break, dune will also benefit from the same season break which will lead to more money at the BO.
d) The director is a renowned director and people are actually interested to see how he will portray this epic novel movie.

3. New Mutants: Though the movie has taken too long to be released (3 yrs+), it has a 30% chance of still succeeding and not be an outright flop. With the release of a new trailer for mutants, it has attracted a lot of interest from viewers who were not interested in watching it at first. Although, the xmen franchise has suffered some sort of hate from the domestic fans in the US, i see it doing well overseas (esp in UK, china and Japan). If Disney pushes and markets this film well, it will make profits.

4. Godzilla vs Kong: This is another highly anticipated movie as people want to see who will be the real king of monsters is...Will it be kong or godzilla? The last movie flopped due to bad script and no connection from the audience to the KOM film...however, with kongs presence, i believe that there will be more connections from the audience to the movie which will boost its BO performance.

***These are my thoughts...we just have to see how these movie turn out at the BO.

Internet has turned everyone into a movie pundit, esp those that don't have the slightest idea of what they're talking about.

Trauma Center ...3/10
Genre: Action, Thriller

How the mighty has fallen. This flick was clear evidence that Oga Bruce has finally lost his way. What in God's name really happened to this talented actor. In recent times, i used to rate Nicholas Cage at the top of the list of remarkable actors who went from Grace to Sh.it, but with this performance from Will's, he has definitely topped the list.
Horrible & cliché story, bad acting, the only good thing about the flick was the cinematography.
If you fancy shi.tty movies and you've got enough MB to waste, then you'll definitely love this one.

Terminator- Dark Fate.

The storyline is rather cliche despite the story being rewritten, but the movie is Very very entertaining and the fight scenes are off da shizzle.

8/10 for the superlative VXFs.

If you fancy shi.tty movies and you've got enough MB to waste, then you'll definitely love this one.

nicholas cage never stopped being remarkable.

he has always been a good actor.

falling into financial difficulties is the reason why he's accepting b and c movie roles.

but even so, his mere presence in them elevates those shitty movies.

Step Up China (2019)..1/2/10
Genre: Musical

IMDb warned me, so did Rotten Tomatoes & the rest of the lot, yet the title & my love for musicals made me turn a deaf ear.
Everything about the flick was horrible. 100mins of my time all wasted. Pls guys do steer clear from this one...

Have you seen the following: Honeymoon In Vegas, Con Air, The Rock,... etc. How i wish you were nearby, i would have borrowed you my 24 in 1 collection, all Nicholas Cage movies. After seeing it, compare his acting performance then with what he frequently dishes out now, then you'd have a better understanding why i said what i said.
