Believers on Nairaland come forward. I need a divine understanding to this Bible passages especially the one in bolded which day we should marry if we want to enter the kingdom of God.

According to Matthew 19 vs 12
" For there are different reasons why men cannot marry: some, because they were born that way; others, because men made them that way; and others do not marry for the sake of the Kingdom of heaven. Let him who can accept this teaching do so.
"

Beside, this is God's words and must not be neglected. We must always abide in his words for us to run this heavenly race according this passage marriage is not for everyone especially for those looking forward to we welcomed by Him (Jesus) in heaven and be awarded their glorious crown for their rewards while on earth.

Does that means that anyone that doesn't accept this teaching will not enter the kingdom except for those that didn't get married

Matthew 19 GNW
When Jesus finished saying these things, he left Galilee and went to the territory of Judea on the other side of the Jordan River.
Large crowds followed him, and he healed them there.
Some Pharisees came to him and tried to trap him by asking, “Does our Law allow a man to divorce his wife for whatever reason he wishes?”
Jesus answered, “Haven't you read the scripture that says that in the beginning the Creator made people male and female? And God said, ‘For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and unite with his wife, and the two will become one.’
So they are no longer two, but one. No human being must separate, then, what God has joined together.”
The Pharisees asked him, “Why, then, did Moses give the law for a man to hand his wife a divorce notice and send her away?”
Jesus answered, “Moses gave you permission to divorce your wives because you are so hard to teach. But it was not like that at the time of creation. I tell you, then, that any man who divorces his wife for any cause other than her unfaithfulness, commits adultery if he marries some other woman.”
His disciples said to him, “If this is how it is between a man and his wife, it is better not to marry.”
Jesus answered, “This teaching does not apply to everyone, but only to those to whom God has given it.
For there are different reasons why men cannot marry: some, because they were born that way; others, because men made them that way; and others do not marry for the sake of the Kingdom of heaven. Let him who can accept this teaching do so.”

Pastor Ibiyieomi said dont read the Bible like a motivational book but read with understanding and wisdom ;. "and others do not marry for the sake of kingdom "....have you considered that it might be like the Catholic priest and nuns he's talking about? those who devote their life to do God's work?

No translation says CAN NOT marry. It is DO NOT MARRY

It is about choices... Don't read your evil mind into the word of God.

God is not against marriage, it's a simple statement that gives room for people's choices

He said some doesn't get married for the sake of the kingdom of God e.g Catholic priest, monks and Rev sisters. you are misquoting what Christ said.

Okay but the last sentence says "Let him who can accept this teaching do so" What does Jesus meant by that statement

Marriage is a distraction on its own,if you can accept to stay without getting married so you can be focus entirely on God's work then so be it as in the case of priests and nuns I repeat ....

This is an eye opening. I just realised Jesus didn't get married. But if a priest avoid marriage just to focus entirely on God's work how good it will be if pastors can also adapt this since pastors are more passionate about God's work smiley

My dear, I clearly told you that you are twisting. Yet you want me to explain your twisted verse. Did you not understand what I earlier said.

Show me the exact translation where you are quoting from o, because this twist does not make sense.

The bible cannot contradict itself.
God is not against men getting Married but the Bible also makes it clear that some people have been given the grace to not marry but to devote their lives to the service of God.
E.g Apostle Paul.

How are you so sure about this. Go back to the previous posts and read the chapter again. The last statement Jesus said was "Let him who can accept this teaching do so."

So call believers are so good at quoting one verse that suites them and ignore the others like cow dung. Well their problem not mine. My point is if truly Jesus said this and you are bound to do his will as believers, then I don't expect any pastor to ever get married because doing so means they didn't accept his teaching which means none of them is qualified to enter his kingdom according to the passage. grin

Maximus69, 1Sharon still waiting for your response thanks.

If you call for my attention on what you don't understand in the Bible it's good. That's means you must have noticed clarity in my posts.

Please i'm just a student of the Bible, TAUGHT at the feet of a group of 8 old men in America known as the Governing Body of the Jehovah's Witnesses organization!

So if you wish to know more than Maximus, enroll yourself in their free home Bible study, to be conducted by trained volunteers from Jehovah's Witnesses organization!

Jesus was talking about how we can get the visa into God's kingdom. Note that he wanted to help us prevent all obstacles that could serve as stumbling blocks to God's kingdom, therefore marriage is part of it!

First of all we need this nine qualities to become a citizen of God's kingdom, LOVE, JOY, PEACE, PATIENCE, GOODNESS, KINDNESS, FAITH, MILDNESS and SELF-CONTROL! Galatians 5:22-23

Whoever is going into marriage life must be fully prepared to pay more than what is normal to be able to stand firm in these qualities!
While a single person (unmarried) will find it easy to focus on the duty of Christian life which is full participation in preaching and teaching people in his neighbourhood about God's Kingdom, a man or woman MARRIED will find it much more stressful to carry out this work which God's son said is the most important task!
With the added responsibility of taking good care of a WIFE/HUSBAND, CHILD/CHILDREN, IN-LAWS will become a distraction dragging your heart to other things apart from God's kingdom.

So Jesus' followers after grasping the intent behind his speech fearfully said "if that's how it is between a man and his wife, then it's advisable NOT TO MARRY AT ALL" Matthew 19:10

Then Jesus replied with the bolded in your post!

But if you're married already before Jehovah's Witnesses (TRUE Christians) approach you with the message of the Kingdom, you can make it by begging God to give you the power beyond what is normal (holy spirit) to do his will despite those additional responsibilities.

At another occasion Jesus' followers were lost in thought after hearing him delivered a speech, so they fearfully asked him "who therefore can make it into God's kingdom?" Matthew 19:25

Then Jesus replied "if you think you can make it with your own power, you're going to fail woefully, but trust in the power from above because WITH GOD ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE" Matthew 19:26

So my friend it's not about marriage alone, for you to enter God's kingdom, you must be fully prepared to disown yourself {Matthew 16:24} this means you must take everything lightly {Matthew 6:22-23} as if you're entitled to NOTHING, not even what you possess presently { Luke 18:18-23}

By so doing you'll be able to focus on the narrow path leading to everlasting life, note that the other way is broad, meaning you can continue acquiring everything with the little time we have now, whereas it all belongs to the world that you'll die and leave everything behind {1John 2:15-17}. But on the narrow path, you're 100% focused no turning left or right! Matthew 7:13-14

God bless you my friend! smiley

You're welcome Sir!

But note that that's never my IDEOLOGY, i was a Muslim and a military intelligence officer for years, and i love material possessions like die! wink

It's the Jehovah's Witnesses (TRUE Christians) that taught me how to put on the NEW PERSONALITY you're chatting with now, otherwise i'll be in one of our offices planning how to delete(exterminate) anybody as a mission given to us from our superiors!

Jesus will is that it should be left to ones decision to marry or not.

The teaching there clearly informs you that where marriage is concerned, the choice is up to you. No choice is forced on you by Jesus Christ given that the same Jesus Christ also taught you that your marriages mean nothing in the Kingdom of God I.e. they are of this world instead. undecided
