A brief of inteligence and paper work is what your goverment needs.... unless you are telling me your goverment is that dumb on another look, sending more than two officials might have a rotten effect on your dead debt broken nation . 1 Like 1 Share |

vaxx1: If that's the case he can email his technical paperwork or brief his intelligence on Skype. He doesn't need to come here. When you throw a bone to a dog, even a well fed dog, the least it can do is bury the bone for later instead of barking all night and keeping everyone up with noise. |

Ghana’s Cedi Is the Year’s Biggest Winner Against the U.S. Dollar By Moses Mozart Dzawu February 3, 2020, 7:33 AM EST Updated on February 3, 2020, 9:39 AM EST Ghana’s cedi, the world’s best-performing currency against the dollar this year, extended its advance on Monday as investors await a Eurobond sale that would bolster the government’s coffers. The currency of the world’s second-biggest cocoa producer has strengthened 3.9% in 2020, the most among more than 140 currencies tracked by Bloomberg, a turnaround from last year, when it weakened 13%. The coronavirus outbreak and the recent lunar new year holiday in China has cut back travel and trade, reducing demand for foreign currency from Ghanaian importers, according to Nana Yaa Faakye, Head of Treasury at Republic Bank Ghana Ltd. The West African country is concluding a series of meetings with international bond investors Monday for a sale of as much as $3 billion in Eurobonds. Ghana's cedi is the world's best-performing currency in 2020 “With the impending Eurobond issuance, which is likely to increase foreign reserves, some buyers are betting that the cedi will strengthen further,” Faakye said. The central bank’s tight monetary stance is also supporting the currency, said Steve Opata, head of financial markets at the Bank of Ghana. Market reforms including the introduction of forward-rate foreign exchange auctions since October, with a target of $715 million this year, are another factor in favor of cedi gains, he said. “The country’s high nominal interest rates matter to investors as it will give them some immunity when the currency depreciates,” Stephen Bailey-Smith, a investment strategist at Kolding, Denmark-based Global Evolution, said by phone. “We have obviously seen some guys come back into the market.” 1 Like 1 Share |

this is what I call banana republic broke country, broke judiciary, broke fools Kenyans should not expect justice from broke Judiciary Friday January 24 2020 In Summary As an institution mandated by the Constitution to independently deliver justice, it ought to be taken care of better. Inasmuch as the President encouraged institutions to work with the resources they have, more funds need to be allocated to the Judiciary. By BRIAN MUTORO Revelations from the State of the “Judiciary and Administration of Justice in Kenya” report released on January 23, 2020 brought to light critical issues in our Judiciary that ought not to be taken lightly. As an institution mandated by the Constitution to independently deliver justice, it ought to be taken care of better. The Judiciary is among the lead institutions in the fight against the cancer of corruption that Kenya is struggling to liberate itself from. This comes in the wake of Transparency International’s ranking of Kenya at 28th out of 100 in the 2019 Corruption Perception Index report. Chief Justice David Maraga revealed that last year, the Judiciary was hit by abrupt and unexplained budget cuts. This, he explained, brought some functions of the Judiciary to a halt. His efforts to reach the relevant officials over the issue were futile. BUDGET CUTS Finance came out as the biggest problem facing our Judiciary. The finance problems have led to a huge backlog of cases in the courts, against CJ Maraga’s promise sometimes last year. The report also indicated that the government was only funding 20 per cent of the Judiciary budget. The World Bank-funded Judicial Performance Improvement Programme funds about 80 per cent of the Judiciary’s infrastructure projects. It is therefore, in my opinion, absurd that the state cut down the Judiciary’s budget while it funds such a small percentage of it anyway. Kenya stands to benefit significantly from a well-funded Judiciary system. Such a system would be independent, as it should, infallible and incorruptible. Shortage of manpower was also cited as a problem facing the Judiciary, which undoubtedly circles back to lack of proper finance that could facilitate the hiring of required personnel. CONVICTION RATE According to the report, the Judiciary was able to release Sh7.2 billion that was stuck in litigation through mediation to the Kenyan economy. The Judiciary also managed to settle several cases informally through adjudicators and arbitration. These they managed despite the challenges they faced. The President told Maraga that Kenyans expect swift convictions of the corrupt individuals this year. Inasmuch as the President encouraged institutions to work with the resources they have, more funds need to be allocated to the Judiciary. As a country, we should not have high expectations of the Judiciary while at the same time underfunding it. This, in my opinion, would not be any better than expecting a lot of milk from a sick, underfed and malnourished cow. [s] gallivant:[/s] 1 Like 1 Share |

this is what I call banana republic broke fools everywhere in kenya Broke KPL relocates to smaller offices as financial crunch persists By Kymani Kiarie January 9th, 2020 1 min read KPL Chairman Ambrose Rachier, who is also the chairman of Gor Mahia Football Club, during a past press conference in Nairobi. PHOTO | CHRIS OMOLLO The Kenyan Premier League (KPL) Limited has moved its office from Brookside Drive in Westlands to a smaller one along Lenana road in Hurlingham as the financial crunch continues to bite the body mandated with managing the top-tier. According to a reliable source, KPL owes the owner of their previous office in Westlands rent accumulating to over six months and they mutually agreed to terminate the lease to allow a new tenant occupy the space from this month. This forced KPL to search for a new office and they did, financed by a loan from their partners La Liga. KPL Chairman Ambrose Rachier, in a separate interview with Nation Sport has confirmed the company continues to face financial uncertainty 1 Like 1 Share |

Kenya is nearing 100% of primary-to-secondary transition. The are few counties in desert like Marsabit - where transition is at 60%. Their population is of course very disperse. Those are the counties that Ghana - VERY LESS THAN IDEAL - 2 Track model will be applied. Otherwise most of kenya counties already enjoy 100% primary to secondary transition. Last year we were at 98%!!! The president has given ministry of education upto march to ensure 100% transition - be it in Chalbi desert or Nairobi. That is where Ghana and their idiotic 2 track system come into place. https://www.the-star.co.ke/news/2020-01-28-uhuru-extends-deadline-for-100-transition-to-secondary-school/ Kenya policy wonks are very good. They will look for solutions everywhere. Only the Ghanians will be excited. As of last month - out of 1.05M kids who sat for primary education - nearly 1M had reported to secondary schools - we are racing to find schools for 0.05m kids in the deserts & a few who repeated Class/grade 8 - and the Ghana experts will be send there to design his 2-track system in Chalbi desert (Marsabit the worse has 60% transition rate). Don't imagine kenya will ever adopt a laughable system like double track in mainstream of kenya schools...where kids go for 3 months to schools..and 3 months at home. It can only work from moving kenya from 98% to 100% primary to secondary transitions. vaxx1: 3 Likes |
